One reason that helped you win that track event is at 6-speed transmission. As much as people recommend downgrading to a 5-speed (because its stronger) there are some companies out there producing heavy duty gear sets and options for the 6-spd. The 6-spd maintains that close ratio gear set for the advantage over a 5-spd to keep the engine in that sweet spot power band. Being a Evo 8 MR owner would like to see what you push the 6-speed with new tech and maintain the track advantage ⚙️ 🏁
I feel like he won because he’s completely in-tune with driving that car. His driving as progressed like crazy. And his suspension and alignment are extremely dialed-in. You can tell he’s completely understanding of the car. And he doesn’t have a 6-speed anymore if I recall right

Yup I know in NASA, you're not supposed to take to the track if you're leaking anything. Leaks don't pass inspection and its super disrespectful and unsafe for the other drivers.
Sitting in the workshop taking a break from my civic time attack build aero phase, and viola perfect timing for some extra motivation to finish the racecar. 💪
Looking at footage it might be worth trying to get more droop on the rear shocks of the ek so under full load you have both rear tyres in contact with the tarmac. Although can't remember how thick the rear sway bar is so could just be that.
I doubt there’s “oil soak” in your tires. That would have dried out in a couple laps on that dry track coupled with those friction slides around corners.

100% you should do a collab with The BoostedBoiz and show them the ropes of how to build a track civic for fast lap times so you can properly experience why the car exists in the first place.. It's the only thing (which is hard to believe when they're doing a full blown Honda channel) which those guys haven't properly done with a civic / K-swap :( The true appreciation of designers Kohichi Hirata, Masakazu Udagawa; Yoshi Kigoyoshi , etc..

I think the Civic's rear suspension was just too hard. Lifting the inside wheel in a corner looks cool, but not the fastest way around a track. Nice video guys!!

I love seeing these videos and I can tell by the view count that others do too. One complaint..being a fellow track enthusiast in a GT3 that is nowhere near as highly prepared or as fast as you are, I wear a HANS device, gloves, track suit and boots. You could say that I’m being “bougie” all you want, but I’m just not interested in burning to death in a bad shunt. With the times you are running and amount of money you are spending to prepare your cars, and the amount of people watching you, how can you justify not wearing suits and gloves even if it’s not “required”?

Looks like the civic is having a severe weight transfer issue. Around 20:12 you can see the rear right completely lift off the tarmac.. Use a high speed cam and slow down the footage of your cornering and see for yourself..
Both cars have evolved very much and both drivers too!But the competition has evolved too and has upped the game!It will be tough to stay up front!What's with the open windows?Is it a rule?There could be aerodynamic benefit with the windows closed i think.

Just an idea. You could have tried to square up the civic. Like put the old 10" wide wheels on the back. New 10" wide in the front. With the right tire pressure, probably would have worked
I see you guys are using an AIM SOLO; do you spend time heavily analyzing the data collected from those and how come you don't show that in your videos? Seems to be a big part of racing for a lot of people.
I just love the personalities of the two bens. Short Ben is definitely more technical while Tall Ben is just go with the flow, "we will see what happens" type of attitude and I think its great. I can definitely relate to the both of you. Great Job gentlemen
Have zero interest in track videos but I watch your videos just because of the camera quality. So thanks Subaru Ben I know you're the camera gadget geek and thanks to the editor too good job.
Oil seeped into the tyre, use paint thinner and soak a rag with it, wipe soaked rag onto the tyre.. scrub them hard... Another method is by buying big loads of RC car tyre rubber prep liqud... Use it the same way as the paint thinner... (Just more expensive but more effective)... That way u help cleans up and recondition the rubber to its prime grip level... Also helps for the tyre to grip better while waiting for tyre temp getting into optimum level...
ben was not aware that the Yokohama A052 which he said was "relatively quick" is just an absolute bonkers tire. proves yet again the best mod to get you up and going is the stuff that sticks you to the road
I'm shocked you were even allowed on the track with that fluid leak on the civic, if you'd been forced to fix it it would have saved your new tires as well. Congrats to Ben Lin on the Evo win though!
The Honda's handling issues have little to do with tires. It's lifting the inside rear wheel... a lot! Adding more grip with new tires makes handling worse in that situation. That's why it was more settled with the old tires. Either add more spring to the front or if the rear is independent add more spring while softening the swaybar to maintain front/rear balance. After doing so that car could benefit greatly from a suspension tuning day.
Why do you guys drive with the windows down? 1. It's dangerous in case of a roll or in fact any kind of accident (and forbiden in any form of racing by the FIA) 2. It creates tons of drag

Likely a lot of factors at play but agreed. Tripoding looks cool but you're losing grip in doing so.
Over driving the car will kill lap times too.
