We don’t use the words ‘tribe’ to use identify ourselves. Culture is the word you will hear in South Africa and mostly so in Southern Africa.

Ndebele people loves their culture, if you can go to Kwandebele in Mpumalanga , most of the houses are painted like that, everything is culture.
Ndebele, Swazi, Zulu, Xhosa are all Nguni clan(the languages are similar too)

Quite similar... just different dialects. It's akin to Sotho, Pedi, and Tswana. They can understand each other despite the dialect differences

Consumption of mopani worms is not common in SA. Its popular among Venda and Tsonga people from Northern areas of SA. Most of us never tasted it

@TshifhiwaMashamba no offense intended. I just stated facts. North West, all cape provinces, Natal, free state, G.P (except for migrants from LP and parts of MP), and no one eats masonja from these provinces. It's not like pap, which is common throughout SA.

A lot of the coloured communities too. We always bought them at school functions & fundraisings other homemade sweet options are ‘tamaleitjie’ & other flavored fudges. We also do different koeksusters, more like a vetkoek, dipped in a cinnamon syrup & rolled in coconut. A favorite after school was big flat vetkoek with atchaar - those with more spending money could get polony too! 😅
Family you have more cultures to explore, remember they're not tribes but culture

It’s something new to us and we don’t know everything that’s in it. Normal ingredients is true however we didn’t know what all was in it. It was good though
The koeksuster’s are different in ‘coloured & Malay communities, more denser & dipped in cinnamon syrup & rolled in coconut. Most families buy a dozen every Sunday morning & you can take your own container.

My culture!! The art on the walls looks so familiar to my granny's yard who passed away last month and this reminds me so much of her😢The lady is wrong when she says the reason for boys initiation school is for circumcision . There are many reasons for it and it part of the culture that they cannot be disclosed to anyone and also boys as young as 13 year olds do undergo the process as long as they're physically fit and healthy. I have friends who have went through the process and I am also 18 year old who will be undergoing the initiation process next year April-June and the reason why I didn't go in 2021 was because I was still in matric and not because of my age.😊

Those African Americans and Africans in diaspora who want to come visit South Africa we got a huge population of Europeans in fact the number of whites in our country makes up 80% of the whole population of them in Africa, the 5 million white in South Africa own 80% of the wealth the majority of the economy is in the hands of the few super wealthy whites while the 20% is in the hands of the government and few rich black elites who have shares in Europeans businesses.

A classic example of the appropriation of black people's culture by white people. Again, a white person - an owner of the land (just like colonization right?) and a black person - a remunerated entertainer (just like slavery, right?). It saddens me how very little has changed for blacks, post-colonization. This is just my reflection, not to take away your beautiful experience. Great content as always

African culture are quite vibrant and beautiful and some of our practices and values are also beautiful, however I will request that as people who are Christian, be very prayerful and discerning as some aspects of our culture or tradition doesn't align with the core values of being a Christian.
