Not a Joburger, but I love our country. I really appreciate these honest videos that don't just focus on crime and economic issues.
Because, in reality, I think most of us take a lot of things in South Africa for granted. Our people, culture, morals and freedom of expression for example. Proud to be South African. 🇿🇦
I appreciate what White people have done for the country. As White South Africans you have the capacity to be more connected than ever. Ensuring your own collective prosperity first is morally right and will posthaste ensure overflow of abundance for nonWhite others. Love from America.
🇮🇪 brilliant video sharing excellent
very well put together, excellent video
Hello Sir. It's me, the Filipino lad you've met together with my friends at the Pangas falls in Bohol, Philippines🇵🇭
Awesome TH-cam channel you have.🤘
I wasn't born in Jozi but have been living here for over 20 years and I love it.
hello. How danger is it? Im considering a job there that pays 600K rand a year but i dont know if that is enough for a good and confortable life and im worried with security. Im from europe. What is your opinion?
@@THEMRblackboy7thst Not sure what your monthly take home pay (after tax) would be since you're not S.African. But there are many middle class suburbs that are relatively safe, or you could live in a secure complex or estate. Johannesburg is a much bigger city than many people realise and there are many residential options. And a comfortable lifestyle and many things to do. There is crime, but if you stay away from the dodgy areas, you should be fine.
@THEMRblackboy7thst As long as you don't live in Central Joburg, you should be fine. If you plan on buying/ renting a car, go for low risk vehicles. I worked in Joburg CBD & Parktown for over 15 years , never had any incident. Also, R600k is a good salary as to afford a pretty comfortable life here.
@haseenah2923 I lived there from 1999-2008...still have so many memories and I learnt a lot about life while there...I guess I was growing up that time and still learning a lot about life and things. Where are u originally from?
Jo,burg is hypnotic My family was there in the 70,s and 80,s living in Hillbrow they said it was the best place on earth that time. grtz from Holland,....baije dankie.
Great vlog today 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿

Crazy city 🎉
Beautiful, I was there last month, Maboneng, Maropeng , Mapetla , Orlando , Hillbrow and a few other places, absolutely Amazing experience!
Why was it amazing?
Joburg is full of surprises!
It really is!
Exactly very diverse, every corner have a shopping centre in Joburg, and better public transportation (Gautrain)
Well said man
Soweto, maboneng, newtown, Melrose arch etc...i love my Joburg!!!
I live in Durban but traveled to every major City in South Africa and without a doubt Joburg represents the true reflection of South Africa.
My friend, you are so young that to us a pile of shit that is central JHB was 1000% better on its worst days when it resembled New York during the 70's and 80's than you think is its best. That place, I lived in Hillbrow was at the pinnacle of high society living, if you wanted to live anywhere near the JBD, you will have to be very rich, I remember night cleaners washing pavements, mowing lawns, doing road works, AT NIGH so when day comes, 04:30 in the morning when delivery trucks offloaded, fresh fruit an vegetables off loaded, you could smell the freshly baked bread in the crispness of the very cold winter mornings. When flower markets were setting up, Montana in Hillbrow sold Rotisserie Chickens all night, News Paper sellers taking up positions, men dressed in Armani Suits disappearing into skyscrapers, when the JSE was still in the Glass building at 17 Diagonal Street, when JHB was the Financial Capital of Africa and arguably the whole Southern Hemisphere. When you could could smell money everywhere. The place was awash with the rich, there where expensive cars everywhere, I was a 19 year old Policeman in JHB, it was routine to find a 15/16 year old teenager driving around in his fathers Ferrari or Porche. When Andre Stander was the most wanted person in South Africa. When Boobs, San Lorenzo and these Night Clubs charged R50 a head on a Saturday night in the early 80's, can you imagine that today, it will be R5000 (help somebody with exact figures) When there was a Police Unit called "Murder & Robbery" stationed at Brixton that was the elite in capturing the few stupid people who had the balls to point a gun at anybody. When I did a Night Shift in Newlands Police Station 90% of all our complains was Noise disturbance, domestic arguments and we only had 10% of other crimes happening, petty theft, house breaking, car accidents, shop lifting, drunk/drinking in public, and you could still get a good 2 hours Kip behind the America Roadhouse.
No my friend, what you are seeing today, or you think is good, is NOTHING what it it once was, all the money has left with the white people it is in Sandton, Midrand, and off to Cape Town, etc. and now they are setting their sites on those places, soon to be turned into another Shithole of embarrassment of uneducated criminals who let their own people starve to death, at NO point in History before the ANC took over, were these people so poor so hungry than they are now!, I weep for them, only if we gave them a share in Politics back then we could have saved everybody this pathetic government. You can see the ache in the eyes of the old people, they still remember when it was still safe even in townships, it was safe and clean, and 90% of people had a job, the trains from Soweto to JHB was jampacked with commuters, everybody nicely dressed with their hand bags on their way to WORK! And it now all GONE!, forever. All you can do now is pack your little bag and move to the Western Cape, which is probably to late in any case, Whitey has bought up every single inch of the WC, and the prices are rising by the millisecond.
Ek stem heeltemal saam!
Thanks for the insight...I grew up in Africa but lived in SA from 1999-2008 and have many memories of it upto today....SA was a dream destination and there were a lot of talks about it before I went there but SA had taught me a lot about life in many ways...
straat van goud sy my oma altyd in johannesburg haha sy is begraaf in holland.
Jozi was my first experience of a truly Pan Afrikan city. I am looking forward to going to Nairobi next… l thrive for diversity
Lovely video and take on this wonderful city and l agree with your sentiments 🫶🏾🇿🇼
It's the built environment of White people. Go to Timbuktu or possibly Accra?
@@smplfi9859 a section of a race… that can only find happiness in othering.
Looks like I’m one of the only ones that doesnt live here or been here haha. Was just curious as an American I didn’t know much at all about your country. Looks like an awesome place!
Thank you so much for informations and for sharing your video. I watch your video from Canada. I will go visit this beautiful city. Thank you again 😁👍🏽
As a European, coming to a left hand drive country with most traffic lights not working, I am finding it limits my option of getting around. Opted out of hiring a car. Would love to be able to use public transport other than Gautrain. It gets you closer to local people too.
South Africa used to have many trams and desirable, safe, public transport and such before. Car centrism was really a proletariat revolt against Baron Railroad Monopolies. The degradation of White infrastructure and White built environments, stems from the otherflow of nonWhite use and their lack of appreciation, maintenance, and order. I wouldn't expect an bird to build a beehive. Or Indians to build what Chinese built. When the ignorant city liberals voted to end Apartheid, 80% believed they were genuinely the majority population of the land... because they never saw black outside their nice houseworkers and field laborers... they refused to acknowledge their nature and visit the bantustans firsthand and instead hide in palatial homes and stay in the safety and order in a gorgeous built environment they constructed for themselves. I can understand how people who have never had this standard of living would be jealous... but many Whites sent to college failed to acknowledge race and its role in nation and to honor what their ancestors had constructed for them and Africa. Our duty is to lift up the world. Not everyone can be the leader... but we must lift ourselves up first...
Lekka place to jol in the 80's.
My class and me are going to lory park zoo friday in two days
I lived in Yeoville and Hillbrow in the early 60’s. I went to Yeoville Boys Primary. What are these areas like now?
I lived in joburh from 1999-2008 and they were considered very dangerous then....I don't know about now though
Johannesburg, birthplace of District 9.
Just be honest, with a Gini coefficient of 63.00, South Africa is the most unequal country in the world and Johannesburg is the best example of that
first of all: unequality of income is NO problem - only for anticapitalist/left wing who are RESPONSIBLE FOR MOST poverty due to permanently using such ideological measure. what is better: having 5 poor people (= very equal) or 3 rich and just 2 poor people? which society is better for real humans? yep, the second one. and the second one is also better for the people who have less. believing into such ideological measures is already ONE problem why some countries dont prosper. you are guilty as well by spreading such ideological measuring (which measures just 'envy ness')! people like YOU are part of the (real) problem! one has to make life for everyone better, raise the general standard, NOT to take away from the ones who have more = main reason why 100% of all socialist countries failed (and they are also together with islam most antisemitic/antizionist racist nazis). south africa has indeed a problem, BECAUSE they vote permanently for such parties (which are also the most corrupt ones). and this is a failure of everyone without any exception who did that.
Please, always watch your back.
Thank you, sir.
Joburg is the best city in the world.
😅
Jy moet rerig jong wees om dit te kon se…..
Have you ever been to another city? 😂
You have been to every city in the world၇
I don't even go to the cbd anymore. It's a rotten dump
I can only imagine how Johannesburg was before colonization, which brought in crime and violence. I think you call it apartheid. Just keeping it 💯
Its a free country fool. Native Africans havent done anything marvelous for centuries.
Joburg did not exist before colonialism. Literally created around gold mines
Apartheid was the legal system implemented to suppress the non whites and segregate society. Read a history book…
I would not live in any city where I couldn’t send my 10-year-old daughter down the street to run an errand.
Not sure how honest this is. I know you’ve caveated and warned about safety but it’s not responsible to portray it as anything but dangerous
Tourists from Europe / US will be very naive to the threats 😢
Breaks my heart, I grew up in jnb and will always love SA but would never recommend JNB to anyone.
No different than a big city in the USA
When I look at videos of South African cities I always think the same thing.
Name a city in the USA with 50% unemployment. Guess what, you can't because it doesn't exist
Borne in sa joburg always been a crap city
Whites feel same in southern Africa as we feel in USA that is unsafe
Your descriptions of "diverse culture" and "colorful tapestries" are so vague and meaningless. Joburg does not look prosperous. Id rather be in Japan.
South Africa is an amazing country yet it is not yours. :)
Damn wdym lol
@@Pebb5 proof?
