Have you seen Sadako vs Kayako? They made a movie where two girls watch the tape and then go to the JuOn house and both get double cursed. It is something to experience.
I grew up with these horror characters ( Sadako from The Ring, Toshio and Kayako from Ju-on: The Grudge) starring in my dreams and imagination, it was really scary for me especially when we were just kids under 10 years old when we first watched it and it always come to mind when someone asked me what films I could recommend. Like I really I avoided watching TV alone for years, I will unplug it then ran to hide in the room and I can't handle the static of the TV because of the well. The originals are really memorable, and no offense but compared to the American films based on these stories, it never reaches the expectations I have when you have these original films haunting your sleep. It's like these films became the standard for me, even though American based was scary but it didn't reach the top scales. I already forgot the premise of the film, I mostly remember the horrifying characters. I was ok with that so it will not fuel my imagination more than it does, but I clicked this video small part because of nostalgia but more to see the appreciation you will have for them. I remember aside from these we watched Shutter from Thailand, some creepy stuffs from one missed call, The Eye and other films I can't remember the titles anymore. Thank you for being scared 😁 and appreciating these old films.
Ju-on The Grudge 1and 2 both are terrifying, it got this atmospheric and the tension, and my favorite would be the soundtracks, because those adds up to the horror of the films....
The asian horror scene is so full of great movies. If you really want to shock yourself with unique horror I just say "Takashi Mike". I enjoyed watching your reactions to this amazing and atmospheric movie. Thanks for this one.
There's something about american horror remakes that just don't quite hit the spot.....so glad you guys react to the original films! I'll watch this tomorrow, when the sun is bright and shining lol.
I watched this movie when i was around 10/11 and i had nightmares like for two weeks after, never had the same fear again for any movie after that, love the asian horror's films since then.
I remember as a teen I watched all the grudges trying to get scared and I got bored. Then I was like “hey, I should watch the Japanese version I heard it’s scarier.” I was shook! The bed scene, that tv part messed me up for weeks I couldn’t stop watching that scene and kept getting goosebumps. I had to show it to all my friends like I loved this movie. As an American, I can say a lot of our horror movies over the past couple decades have been more for entertainment, not to scare the audience. Japan and Korea really know how chill an audience. You guys should check out this South Korean movie called “I saw the Devil” a sort of slasher, psychological revenge movie.
wich i don't fully get, the first american was a nearly shot for shot remake, with a more coherant story, but none of the scenes that are spooky in original work in remake, especially the coming down the stairs.
When I was a lad. My cousins and I were watching it but I wasn't really watching it. I was just laying down looking away from the screen but listening to the sounds while its blasting through the speakers. That door creaking sound is so iconic.
Shutter the Thai movie scared the crap out of me, and it is probably one you havent seen even though there is an american remake and i would say its almost as good
I was in my early twenties when this came out and I"m a horror JUNKIE. I've fallen asleep watching the Exorcist back in the day, I'm a bit desensitized. The TRAILER for this movie creeped me out! I can't watch this movie alone for some reason. After seeing it everyone knew I was a huge baby about it and a coworker of mine would call me from random phones all over the office and make the croaking gargling sound. It gives me chicken skin just typing this! lol

def this period was japans reign. they haven’t really been able to emulated this type of horror .. korea then had their era but the kings now are thai.. thai horror is next level
now you done both ring and grudge, you 100% need to see the masterpiece that is Sadako vs. Kayako which is the ring vs the grudge and no i am not joking
The american remake was incredible and made me jump out of my seat in the theatre, but the original Ju-On is still way more creepier..I think it's about the more simple way that movie was made ( with probably a much lower budget) The strongest aspect of the original is its musical score...I recently got a copy of the Japanese score and it feels so more raw and scary than the big budget score of Christopher Young. It profes to me that budget isn't everything and the basic sound and feel of a movie can be done with the most basic technology. Thank you for reviewing this classic and still haunting Japanese movie; it belongs to my all time favorite movies
the japanese have nailed pure horror. ill never forget when i was 20, i got this film for xmas and i was hallucinating from alcohol poisoning. it was terrifying. subbed ^_^
i just bought the grudge, the american version, and this is just about a shot-by-shot template for that movie. i've downloaded about 6 versions, prequels and sequels to the original japanese ju-on. i thought i had them all. where the hell did this one come from? the first ones i saw i think were made for tv original versions before a movie was produced. and then i have all the sequels, "white ghost," "black ghost," "the beginning of the end" and so forth. i even have "sadako vs kayko." why on earth haven't i seen this one? can anyone tell me where this version fits into the chronology of all the movies. what's the ACTUAL FULL TITLE, year of release and the three major stars. with that info maybe i can track it down. i can't even figure out with wikipedia what's going on with this thing.
Japenese and Korean horrors are the best. I used to watch a Korean program, with every episode 3 horror stories. I remember one, where a huge spider, with a woman's head, was chasing cars.
Would you guys consider reacting to the movies The Others starring Nicole Kidman and The Skeleton Key starring Kate Hudson, both really great horror/thriller movies
You both know that the director of The Grudge (2004) and Ju-On have the same director? He’s done a lot of Ju-On movies (most were direct to video) with Ju-On: The Grudge being the first theatrical movie in the series.
My friend and I decided to watch this back when Netflix was a service that delivered DVDs-- it had more Asian content in that format. We turned it on in my family's "computer room" (remember, old days). The DVD menu-- the MENU -- scared us so much we turned it off and watched South Park for an hour or so . Then we gathered ourselves to watch it 😱
Great review guys .. came across your channel from your Raid reviews ...#subscribed .. great debrief analysis of the film .. this was the first Asian horror film I saw years ago and it does a great job in creating an overall unsettling atmosphere all the way through with some inventive scary scenes ... the director of this film actually directed the american remake which is quite rare hence why for me out of all the asian horror remakes (The Ring, Dark Water, The Eye, Pulse, Shutter, One Missed Call etc) I'd probably say The Grudge (2004) is the best American remake done ..... I would defo recommend 'A Tale Of Two Sisters' (also had an american remake made called 'The Uninvited') and 'Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum' .... 2 top Asian horror fims 👍also the 2 highest grossing horror films in South Korea 👍

Idk why I'm watching this video when this franchise is the cause of 90% of my childhood trauma. But I gotta see someone else suffer too :')
I love your dialect guys❤
Have you seen Sadako vs Kayako? They made a movie where two girls watch the tape and then go to the JuOn house and both get double cursed. It is something to experience.
There's Ringu Zero which is a prequel to Ringu which details the backstory of Sadako more
I grew up with these horror characters ( Sadako from The Ring, Toshio and Kayako from Ju-on: The Grudge) starring in my dreams and imagination, it was really scary for me especially when we were just kids under 10 years old when we first watched it and it always come to mind when someone asked me what films I could recommend.
Ringu and The Grudge are masterpieces
The asian horror scene is so full of great movies. If you really want to shock yourself with unique horror I just say "Takashi Mike". I enjoyed watching your reactions to this amazing and atmospheric movie. Thanks for this one.
There's something about american horror remakes that just don't quite hit the spot.....so glad you guys react to the original films! I'll watch this tomorrow, when the sun is bright and shining lol.
I watched this movie when i was around 10/11 and i had nightmares like for two weeks after, never had the same fear again for any movie after that, love the asian horror's films since then.
Check out Noroi: The Curse. One of the best found footage films.
Shutter the Thai movie scared the crap out of me, and it is probably one you havent seen even though there is an american remake and i would say its almost as good
Thai Shutter was awesome!
I forgot about that movie. I bought the DVD of that as a kid and watched it a thousand times
Ladda Land is another good Thai horror film. Still love the twist and scary moment in that film.
"Almost"? Shutter is *the* best Asian horror with Onryo's, ghost pictures etc..
It gives me chicken skin just typing this! lol
This and final destination are my childhood traumas
Final Destination scare me so much because you can't cheat death
"Where's the cat in that picture? He's part of the family too" I NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD HAHHAHAHHA
LOL, that awful noise Kayako makes is a death rattle. :) You're welcome.
Yeah, cause her husband broke her neck.
have any of you watched Ju-On: The Curse (2000) or Ju-On: The Curse 2 (2000)??? technically Ju-On: The Grudge (2002) and Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (2003) are movies 3 and 4
@@MASAHIRO-X- Yes, I’ve seen all the movies. Both the original Japanese and American remakes/sequels.
Lol, for a moment I thought your name was Sada like in "sadako" from ringu
Such a good horror movie...added bonus in this reaction: good drinking game, swig whenever Jack says "horrendous"...nice buzz, that (lofl)!
you know its a great film with it makes you think its real the sound is there next to you, pulls you into it more
def this period was japans reign. they haven’t really been able to emulated this type of horror .. korea then had their era but the kings now are thai.. thai horror is next level
there’s a lot of the storyline you missed from Ju-On: The Curse (2000) and Ju-On: The Curse 2 (2000) since they are the very first films
Audition would be a next great Japanese horror film to watch! 😁 It’s.. well I can’t ruin it for y’all but you have to experience it yourself!
Audition is just freaking sick.
@@tuesdae666 It's a fucked up revenge story lol
tale a shot everytime he says Horrendous
now you done both ring and grudge, you 100% need to see the masterpiece that is Sadako vs. Kayako which is the ring vs the grudge and no i am not joking
that sounds awful 😂 which means we'll definitely do it 😂😂
Lol "masterpiece".. 🤣 It's a straight up horror comedy
I recommend:
PULSE (KAIRO, 2001) by Kiyoshi Kurosawa
Noroi: THE CURSE (2005) by Kôji Shiraishi
Look up the yūrei, a classic Japanese folklore tale. Kayako and Sadako are both yūrei, specifically onryō, or vengeful spirits.
The american remake was incredible and made me jump out of my seat in the theatre, but the original Ju-On is still way more creepier..I think it's about the more simple way that movie was made ( with probably a much lower budget)
The strongest aspect of the original is its musical score...I recently got a copy of the Japanese score and it feels so more raw and scary than the big budget score of Christopher Young. It profes to me that budget isn't everything and the basic sound and feel of a movie can be done with the most basic technology. Thank you for reviewing this classic and still haunting Japanese movie; it belongs to my all time favorite movies
You should watch 着信アリ(Chakushin Ari) aka. One Missed Call. It’s another great Japanese horror movie.
the japanese have nailed pure horror. ill never forget when i was 20, i got this film for xmas and i was hallucinating from alcohol poisoning. it was terrifying. subbed ^_^
"biggest crossover ever", well.... Actually... There is.....
This movie is classic and this is the movie that scared me the most when I was a kid. This is also the reason why I dont want stairs in our house 🤣🤣🤣
The best Asian movie series and best horror
the horror doesn't stop. ju-on 2 too. i've got nightmare for days
Oh that shot of her crawling down the stairs... Yeah still remember that scene after 10+ years since watching
i just bought the grudge, the american version, and this is just about a shot-by-shot template for that movie. i've downloaded about 6 versions, prequels and sequels to the original japanese ju-on. i thought i had them all. where the hell did this one come from?
the first ones i saw i think were made for tv original versions before a movie was produced. and then i have all the sequels, "white ghost," "black ghost," "the beginning of the end" and so forth. i even have "sadako vs kayko." why on earth haven't i seen this one?
can anyone tell me where this version fits into the chronology of all the movies. what's the ACTUAL FULL TITLE, year of release and the three major stars. with that info maybe i can track it down. i can't even figure out with wikipedia what's going on with this thing.
This is the 3rd movie in the original series and probably the most well known one after the American remake
Japenese and Korean horrors are the best. I used to watch a Korean program, with every episode 3 horror stories. I remember one, where a huge spider, with a woman's head, was chasing cars.
That is horrendous!
Ju-On 2 is scary, but I've never found 1 scary
The sequel Ju-On: The Grudge 2 is my favorite horror movie. Absolutely terrifying.
I think the sound effects scared me more than anything with this one (I read they made the noise with a comb!)
Would you guys consider reacting to the movies The Others starring Nicole Kidman and The Skeleton Key starring Kate Hudson, both really great horror/thriller movies
We'll be sure to check them out!
@@_willandjack thank you 🙂
Always love these grudge movies and especially reactions to them lol. I'm more familiar with the American ones lol.
"She's not in the house, it can't get her"
The Grudge: *THINK AGAIN*
You both know that the director of The Grudge (2004) and Ju-On have the same director? He’s done a lot of Ju-On movies (most were direct to video) with Ju-On: The Grudge being the first theatrical movie in the series.
It's been years since I saw this version and I completely forgot English version split it into two movies.
You'll never hear vocal fries the same ever again. LOL!
This is the most scared film with ghosts than i saw in my fucking life 😱😱🤘. One masterpiece of terror. 95/100
The original ones were honestly not very scary to me, the American remake really unnerved me. Maybe it’s because I watched that one first.
Take a shot every time Jack says "Horrendous"
This was the one I saw on mtv asian night waaaaay back. Shit felt like a fever dream. Surreal to my childmind.
Lovely reaction! Lol. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
thank you!
This is one of my favourite Jhorror movies. I also love chakushin ari 着信アリ (one missed call). Please, rect to this one too!
YOU GUYS SHOULD WATCH SHUTTER! :) LET US SEE THE REACTION
the ring was eerier and more tragic, the grudge is definitely scarier
初見の呪怨は本当で怖い。
リアルな雰囲気に呑まれる。
You should watch I saw the devil from Korean it’s about revenge and won’t let you down because that it’s a great film
9:10 nope she already walked inside the house so hitomi is already cursed. Same for those she came in contact with like the security guard
You should see Ju-on The Curse 2000 too, I'm not sure if you have seen it. It's the first Ju-On.
Juon 2 maybe ???
There are many movies in the JU ON series. If you watch them in order, you will know what the whole movie is about. And your commentary is great😃
i knew this movie like 15yrs for me Even i can see real life ghost still never try to watch JU-ON by myself I watch holywood jump scare horror movie never get scare I very like classic mind horror You won't get jump scare but you will feel that simple creepy . When I close eyes wash my head or sleep always think if someone just stand by myside These in your life very normal thing just bring to the so fking creepy . Thx reaction xD
I've watched for years and been without sleep. impossible to review lol
Try Dark Water the Japanese original. Its what you would get if you made the ring into a drama
I remember the last part of The Ring movie in japan, it turns out the love story of sadako and not a horror one.
Check out Ju-On The Curse 1 - 2 and Ju-On The Grudge 2
I Love Ju-On series... Plz 🙏🏼 watch Sadako vs Kayako.
Guys if you liked these two films I highly recommend a Japanese horror film called "Noroi: The Curse" (2005). It is a classic, but unlike The Ring it remained a cult film within Japan. I think it is even better than these two others!
noroi is scary asf. next to lake mungo . * shivers.. i refuse to watch those ever again
You look so much like Errol Flynn to me Will, you know he was Captain Blood and Robin Hood. Espeically wit the mustache.
got trauma on this movie when I was a kid, n still cant watch this movie alone :(
