    Great video.I have an 87 in pretty good shape. It had a blown engine when I bought it from a guy for $200.00 Canadian. I rebuilt the motor with all oem parts. I made molds of the original body work, and made replacements out of fiberglass. Everything from the chainguard to the front and back fenders too. I've had it for about 20 years now, and it still runs great, although I never wring its neck much.

    Greetings from the USA. Great restoration. I still have my '85 LC II YPVS, sold as the RZ350 in the US. Recently refreshed, I am still riding her. She is a "bad girl":
    'spannies
    Milled head
    port matched
    properly jetted carbs
    racing intake
    77hp on the dyno
    Your video sums up riding the YPVS very well. There is nothing like it on a twisty back road, blasting through the gears. Miles of smiles.😊

    Hey, my friend, 7 years ago I had a 1988 Yamaha RZ 350 F2, a quick little Bike! Also had a 1976 Yamaha RD 400, modified, making 63HP at the rear wheel, DG expansion chambers, carbon reeds, and carbs jetted up 2 sizes. electronic ING.bored 0.40 over, would bury the speedo at 200KPH! Hello from Nova Scotia, Canada! Great Video, brings back memories!

    Please don't put castor in with ordinary or synthetic lubes. It will separate, froth-up if its humid/wet and gum up the power valve. Smells great, works as a lubricant but not for modern engines. Scott squirrel or equally vintage two strokes only.

    Oh so much love for this video, took me right back, I had the exact same bike same colour on a D plate, D73 HUL, was a lovely bike that was, so smooth with the standard pipes on it, handling I found a little twitchy it was always better with the missus on the back although tyre compounds are much better these days, that was was back in 1990 if I remember, the power valves actually take the power band out and smooth it right out, its your microns that have put that back in, the standard RD350 unfaired version had a fierce power band it was nothing then everything, the RD350 YPVS smoothed that out, on standard pipes its a very different ride.
    I understand why you masked your clocks but if you can take it out for a slower ride id love to get the full FPV experience of riding on that thing again with the clocks and all, my mates all had RG500s when I had this, they handled even worse! never seen a motorbike that needed 2 x steering dampers on either side! thats why the yammagamma was so awesome.
    Ahh memories.

    This video brings back some wonderful memories. I bought an RZ350FN brand new in 1985 in Australia, would have been near identical to yours except slightly different red/white paint scheme. This was my second bike after graduating from my Suzuki GSX250EX. It was a great bike to ride, light weight and plenty of mid range for a two stroke. The bike has enough power to have fun without being intimidating like a bigger bike.

    Remember the same type of race but in Australia, 2stroke does its best on the corners and gets past makes a bit of a lead and then on the straight gets past by the 4stroke again lap after lap.
    Do you remember the late 80-mid 90s i4 250s 4 strokes from Japan? great power and no engine braking.

    • @Aspire198
      @Aspire198 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I spoke to a guy recently about this, spends a lot of time in collie WA. He said the 4 strokes have an advantage leaving the corner for example because they can get on the power sooner without the bike suddenly hitting a power band and getting a wobble on etc. I need to head down and watch one day but the tldr Iam tols is the 4 strokes are far more rideable.

    • @wobblysauce
      @wobblysauce 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Aspire198 Oh for sure, Like some calling them widow makers... the band was more than just Vtec kicking in.
      But you could tame the band with different springs/lobes combos but still, the key was the right hand, inbuilt traction control.

    My motorcycling pedigree is two strokes.
    Passed me test on an air cooled RD250, lots of years ago followed by every LC & YPVS thereafter.
    I now have a restored F2, the best of them all, in my opinion. It’s my only bike. We only go out in the best of weather and early in the morning for quieter roads and cooler air. Luckily, I live on the edge of the Lake District with perfect F2 roads.
    I was also lucky to get the perfect plate for it as well, F2 YPV.

    Great video, , loved your other one as well just after you got it. I have had 3 LCs and powervalves in total and still have my 250LC. One word of caution. Its best not to roll off the throttle at such high revs and leave it on a closed throttle. When you do that the engine is turning at say 6-7K but because the throttle is closed you only have oil being fed to the carbs by the pump at the rate it should at tick over. If you keep doing it your big and little ends wont last long. Its the reason that in the old days they used to advise that on a long down hill stretch with a closed throttle you pull the clutch in now and again and give it a rev. Or if you can, accelerate at a high throttle opening for a second or two in a higher gear that reduces the acceleration but lubricates the engine.

    • @RoadcraftNottingham
      @RoadcraftNottingham  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No probs. Good to have another one back to the two stroke fold. I tend to let the bike wind down in the higher gear and only change down when I have to. As you say there is no engine braking worth talking about anyway. Just the most fun on two wheels though.

  • @davestatham812

    lovely need me one of these to join my 350lc, please though dont put castrol r40 in your tank even just for the smell, it doesnt mix with synthetic oils it will gunge up eventually and i think will lean out your fuel so ive been told, but all is not lost, you can run silkolene pro kr2 synthetic castor oil through your oil pump, smells the same as castrol r40 as its a caster blend but a lot thinner, ive been running it for nearly 2years now, proper smell, just make sure you completely clean your oil tank out before changing to it though and empty the autolube pump too, by undoing the bleed screw and gently blow through the inlet the spray some wd40 through then blow again, then bleed the kr2 through, job done you wont regret it, doest matter about the feed pipes the castor will just follow the old oil to your carbs as you ride😉 ps great vid want more😉

      @@SeanieVoiceOver Why didnt he just pop some tape over the clock ...so leave the facia uncovered from 0-50mph then a small piece of electrical tape over the rest...This would not show any speeds above 50mph. Just a bit of thought not rocket science.

    Hey Russ... what did you have done to it? It sounds like you did the cylinders and pistons and hence had to run them in again.

      Aakash Pandey Im not sure that was the point really. More pointing out there’s next to none compared to what a lot of modern day bikes feel like. If you haven’t ever had a go on one of these, or similar and you get offered a chance to try one ...... you should. The thing about these is that in their time they had no right to go from A to B as quick as they did and the right pilot could show a much faster bike the way. Heaps of fun.
