I think not, Tagging devices is something that I think Apple focuses more on theft than ease of use so giving them a tag means they are so obvious that if your bag is stollen, the thief just removes the tag and your property is gone forever.
So that they’re more versatile. I have 1 in a 3d-printed credit card sized holder in my wallet, another in a pouch on my Dog’s collar, and another in a silicone holder on my keys. Much more versatile than a “finder” that’s fixed in a key ring.

You can’t just say the Samsung tags last so and so amount of time in “power saving mode” and not explain what “power saving mode is and how long they’d last not in it.
He said 500 days in regular and 700 days in power saving mode. You can turn it on by looking up Samsung Smart Things Find and then sign into your samsung account then you should see as one of the options to extend your battery life.
I got a Samsung Tag2 from their site when i purchased a S23+. I am 72 and my memory isn't what it once was. I set it up. Shortly thereafter i went on a 12 day trip and upon returning, i couldn't find it. My phone says that it "isn't connected", but the location mode says that it is somewhere in my house/garage. After a few days going from room to room, phone in hand, and not finding it, i called Samsung. Upon proof of purchase they agreed to "replace" it. All I had to do was "send in the original". That wasn't possible as the original was missing and couldn't be found! It took 2 conversations. The followed up and called me back. A replacement was sent. I am a long time Tile user and i am comparing the two.
Smarttag2's seem to have either a battery problem or a connection problem. All of my brand new tags drain new batteries within 2 weeks. That didn't happen until a recent One UI update.
So the reason why they are better is the built-in ring? What if I want a smaller tag to hide it (eg in my car or for my pet??} I’d say Apple did it better for giving you the choice. And a case with ring is added protection. Besides I’m using my AirTag now for almost 2,5 years in my car without battery change… this short seems bullshit for me.
I like how Apples doesn’t come with a ring because I use the AirTag on the side of my dogs collar. The Samsung one would have to fling around like a keychain on his collar which would be annoying for him since he is a very small dog.
Exactly I was thinking about the same thing. Is good for keys but for anything else looks too big. I wanna see the Samsung AirTag in a wallet or a remote control
@Flakitonica You can still purchase the 1st gen smarttag that is smaller. But you've got me curious. Why on a remote control? I don't have any that isn't on my phone. The Smarttag is customizable. I've had one inside my ebike for a year and have no issues with it.
I'm a hardcore Samsung Galaxy guy, but I'm not stupid enough to believe that this Samsung SmartTag will ever come close to the crowdsourced location tracking of the AirTag... Basically, every iPhone released since the iPhone 6S in 2015 is reporting back to Apple every time it sees an AirTag. Ain't no fucking way there are enough compatible Samsung Galaxy devices out in the wild for this to work with any level of reliability.
I mean we've seen how Samsung is willing to work closely with Google during the recent AI announcements. So I see no reason to assume that smart tags won't one day be able to be seen by all androids, which would make them way better than smart tags.
@@theNimboo You see no reason? Lmao the 2000+ OEMs under the android umbrella cant even agree on hw and software features. The reason is *fragmentation*. iPhone-like crowd tracking is not happening any time soon because there are tons of androids that lack the necessary hardware for it to work.
@@OblivionZXlol every android device supports find my device, google maps (sending location data for traffic monitoring) and nearby share which are basically everything you'd need to make a universal airtag-like system
@@theairaccumulator7144 you're replying to someone with over a decade in Wireless, namely device repair. Every android does NOT support nearby share and, more importantly, UWB which is how you get in-room to the centimeter accuracy for realistically locating something so small.
@@purq5513 I didn’t ask why it’s better, I asked what the point is of having a power saving mode on a tracker, a device that surely you would want running at full power
However, designing a wireless charger for these tags would not be worthwhile. For the fact that you only need it once every two years, the production of these cables and coils probably wastes more resources than simply putting a small button cell in it every two years. In addition, the whole thing would unnecessarily drive up the price.
If you use a rechargeable battery it would probably die in a few days compared to a normal non rechargeable button cell that could last many months or even years
Functionally they’re better. The only issue is if they’re like AirTags, there are a lot more iPhones (at least where I live) compared to Samsung or even other manufacturers. So it may not be as precise.
@@ariafandana Outside US it's about the same, varies a bit from country to country, but yeah the view that OP is painting ain't the case in most places outside the US. However not making them work on other Android devices via an app or something is a huge mistake from Samsung, not only is Android's marketshare way larger but other brands such as Tile do and that's the real competition.
Side note the smarttags2 actually work on all devices that have the Samsung smart things app installed on it. If you have an iPhone you can get it because if you buy Samsung tv/fridge/washingmachine you can controller it from your phone. So if smart things is installed your Bluetooth will still ping the smarttag2.
It will use uwb via the smart things app but only when the owner is near by the tag (same with apple) but bounce of Bluetooth with the smart things added to the phone or tablet.
Hot tip, don’t buy Samsung appliances. It’s anecdotal data but everyone I know that has samsung appliances has issues with them within 3-5 years. Spend your money elsewhere. I’ve never seen such a bad failure rate especially with the washers and dryers. Those things seems to fail so often and it’s usually the computer that needs replacing.
„Samsung“ is a brand not a (closed) ecosystem like Apple. These tags work with anything that runs Android, in a pinch your camera (with Android on it). It’s not that difficult 🤦♂️
Fun fact. The Apple Air Tag is the exact same size as the hole in the Smart Tag 2 meaning you can plug your AirTag into the Smart Tag 2 for cross platform location finding of people and items without requiring separate or a larger item
The ring is dumb. Should be optional. Airtag fit on my dogs collar and in a small crevice in my onewheel. Now on Android, and that stupid ring is just in the way and makes things not fit while not being useful.
Finding your phone is a nice feature, and while it would be nice if AirTags came with some kind of ring out of the box , the Samsung ones are significantly bigger, making them less convenient in the situations when you don’t need a ring.
They're seriously not that big at all, only slightly taller than a normal airtag. Also an airtag with a keyring attachment is much bigger than the smarttag
@@LeThayMannTiles hardly track though. They only ping off of people that have the Tile app running in the background. I lost one item with a Tile tracker 3 years ago and it never ended up getting a ping to this day. Brand new tracker too with a fresh battery. AirTags and Samsung’s trackers are much better than Tile.

But its never been about the size, the likelihood of an iphone coming near an airtag and pinging is much higher than a samsung doing the same….if samsung tags could work with android as a whole then it would be an even comparison….apple easily wins here

if you're in the us, yeah. if you're anywhere else, samsung pings more frequently + you can do a manual location check which you can't do with the airtags, and this has already been proven.

I don't see how it being bigger with a hook is better. That's a dumb assessment you made. I rather have the option of it being smaller than have a hook built in, making it bigger.
Okay what sucks about these though is that the built in ring hinders some of its applications. AirTags were built without a ring so that you could buy or 3D print your own special holder for whatever job you want it to do. And personally I think AirTags just look cleaner but I love that Matte Black Samsung has. Both have their pros and cons.
@@purq5513 Because of the size of it, that thing is almost double the size of an AirTag and adding a 3D printed attachment would take up even more space.

Tile predates both the AirTag and Samsung's tracker. A tracker is not an original or innovative idea in the slightest. I still will never buy an Apple product.
@empiur. What did it for me was when Apple finally admitted to purposely slowing down its older smartphones performance to "extend" battery life. Bye! Bye! 🍎. Never regretted my decision.
In America, where Apple holds majority market share, Air Tags are better, because Air Tags communicate their location by connecting to other iPhones in the area and sending its location. Even if Samsung had the same functionality, the probability that your lost item connects to a Samsung and pings its location is lower than IPhone.
Yup . This . This dude just says it's better . When it is way worse at his main use . That is being found if lost. It's better at useless things. Way worse at its main reason of existence . A channel to not recommend at all.
They are pretty much similar. Nevertheless many videos show the Samsung SmartTag getting tracked better. I guess that's one point. And if you really need that built in opening. But that's a very small point.
The Galaxy Tags 2 are...not that great actually. I use one to track my bike in cas it ever gets stolen, and it constantly complains if the temperature is even slightly low. It essentially started claiming the batter was empty after a few days and kept claiming the same thing for most of the year. The batter did last about a year though, just with constant warnings...🤦♂️ Also,.I don't get why Samsung limits these to Galaxy Phones. They could make them useable with any Android Phone as long as you have the Smarthings app...🤷♂️
I have both. I gotta say AirTag is so much better. The Smart Tag doesn't move while a person is moving while the AirTag tracks the person while they are moving.
The ring may be good in the case of keys, but the airtags are smaller, so you can fit them in more tight places. Also you can choose the key rings for your liking. And the most important thing is the find my network, android have a larger marketshare, but since the tags work only on samsung phones, probably the airtag with find my network is better.
Many people have done tests even in murica aka sheepland with an iphone monopoly and every single time the Samsung tag swept the floor with it in everything from range, accuracy, ping frequency, etc

Smaller footprint is actually a good thing for my use cases. I hide AirTags in my backpack, laptop sleeve, pencil bag (fountain pens, iykyk). I’d also say it’s not necessarily a bad thing I need a case/holder for the AirTag on my keychain. The one on my keychain still looks new & Nomad makes some great Apple accessories that look better than the Samsung tag does without a case.
AirTags literally work without your phone being around utilizing every iDevice as part of the FindMy network. I’m sorry but being able to latch the Samsung onto a keychain without a separate accessory is not nearly as important or valuable as being able to see where your device is in the world without being connected to it through Bluetooth, even if it moves around. When Google officially rolls out a similar network with the same features then maybe a video like this wouldn’t be basically objectively lying - but until that point it is

I like the idea of rings, but sometimes different use cases require different shapes. I’m using airtags to locate my cats and ring would actually make it more uncomfortable for them to wear.
I have both iPhone and Samsung. The original SmartTag is way better. Not sure how better SmartTag2 is. Apple's AirTag isn't precise. I don't understand why as there's more iPhone users than Samsung users nowadays. AirTags should have been better but its the other way round
If you're using Android, use third party options, these are a lot better than Samsung's and support a wider range of devices, not just Samsung phones. If you're using IOS, just stick to Airtag
AirTag > Samsung You have anywhere been 500,000,000 and 750,000,000 more people “looking” for your tag globally. That’s about 40% more than active Samsung users.
Say it's better but does not address the fact that airtags can be found almost anywhere in the world because a lot of people have iPhones and they are the ones reporting it's location. Samsungs are a lot less and don't know how the system will work . Bet that videos comparing both will say that Samsung are harder to update it's location . "Better" . I'm an android dude btw . Pixel user . But I don't sell myself for promos. I keep it real.
Samsung is to look rich amongst poor Android users. Airtag is what apple created. Samsung tag is just a copy of apple. Airtag version 2 is yet to come.
wow almost everything in this video is false. First, the battery on the airtag lasts a couple years, second the apple airtag is better because it can be tracked by ANY device when you log into "find my" on an android, apple device or even a PC. But what sets it apart the most is the apple ecosystem, most of the smartphones in america are apple so there are WAY WAY more apple devices to ping the airtag location.
The simple fact that the Samsung tags only work with Samsung phones is a loss for that device. With the AirTags only working on iPhones already being a winner. There are way more iPhones in the market then there are Samsung phones.

Pewnego razu zmęczony polowaniem i spragniony, gdyż słońce paliło żarem, pochylił się nad źródłem leśnym i ujrzał w wodzie swoje odbicie. W końcu umarł z tęsknoty i miłości do swego odbicia. Ona jedna widziała rumaki i wóz władcy Tartaru. Demeter Matka, pani urodzajnych łanów i kwitnących sadów, płacze. Łzy gorzkie padają z jej oczu bolesnych na ziemię. Polami wśród zbóż kłosistych idzie dniem i nocą, nie znając snu ni wytchnienia, bezradosna bogini w zgrzebnej szacie, z kłosem poczerniałym w dłoni i szuka swej utraconej córki. Dwukrotnie wysyłał do niej Zeus swego posłańca Hermesa z prośbą, by wrócić zechciała do swej boskiej siedziby i nie trapiła dłużej ziemi spiekotą i głodem. Demeter, uszczęśliwiona postanowieniem Zeusowym, zdjęła klątwę z ziemi i wnet odżyła ona tysiącem strumieni, zakwitła bielą sadów i zielenią drzew, zapachniała miętą i macierzanką, rozszumiała się lasem złocistych zbóż.

No he said they can last “500 if not 700 days in power saving mode”. Which means 500- 700 days in power saving mode.

@seaserpent079 his point is that understanding how it performs when it's *not* in power saving mode is a pretty important detail
And also, what does it NOT do in power saving mode compared to normal mode?

Smarttag2's seem to have either a battery problem or a connection problem. All of my brand new tags drain new batteries within 2 weeks. That didn't happen until a recent One UI update.
So the reason why they are better is the built-in ring? What if I want a smaller tag to hide it (eg in my car or for my pet??}
I’d say Apple did it better for giving you the choice.
A ring accessory is cheap enough to buy and the form factor makes it easier to buy in things like wallets.
A ring for the airtag adds extra unnecessary cost and adds extra bulk to the tracker. Just shave it built in
Exactly I was thinking about the same thing. Is good for keys but for anything else looks too big. I wanna see the Samsung AirTag in a wallet or a remote control
@@purq5513other dude is right lol. Literally found a key ring one for like $1.50 the other day at the store lmao.
@Flakitonica You can still purchase the 1st gen smarttag that is smaller. But you've got me curious. Why on a remote control? I don't have any that isn't on my phone. The Smarttag is customizable. I've had one inside my ebike for a year and have no issues with it.
@Temp-md7pn if you're spending 2k on your smartphone, you definitely don't want to Pay extra to use the accessories you bought for it

Ain't no fucking way there are enough compatible Samsung Galaxy devices out in the wild for this to work with any level of reliability.
Well, apparently, you are stupid because they actually work better than Airtags. 😂

These tags need to be rechargeable wireless would be a great bonus 👌
Your battery shouldn't run out that fast
However, designing a wireless charger for these tags would not be worthwhile. For the fact that you only need it once every two years, the production of these cables and coils probably wastes more resources than simply putting a small button cell in it every two years. In addition, the whole thing would unnecessarily drive up the price.
No, rechargeable batteries would last way shorter than ones you have to replace.
If you use a rechargeable battery it would probably die in a few days compared to a normal non rechargeable button cell that could last many months or even years
Thr battery life would be maybe 3-5 days because the type of batteries needed.

The thing about AirTags is that they’re so small
Fun fact. The Apple Air Tag is the exact same size as the hole in the Smart Tag 2 meaning you can plug your AirTag into the Smart Tag 2 for cross platform location finding of people and items without requiring separate or a larger item
we need that AR feature to track our buds ngl
The ring is dumb. Should be optional. Airtag fit on my dogs collar and in a small crevice in my onewheel. Now on Android, and that stupid ring is just in the way and makes things not fit while not being useful.
Finding your phone is a nice feature, and while it would be nice if AirTags came with some kind of ring out of the box , the Samsung ones are significantly bigger, making them less convenient in the situations when you don’t need a ring.
Tile has had the same product for years. Smaller than the AirTag but has a button to press to find your phone

AirTags literally work without your phone being around utilizing every iDevice as part of the FindMy network. wow almost everything in this video is false.

Demeter i Kora
Pewnego razu zmęczony polowaniem i spragniony, gdyż słońce paliło żarem, pochylił się nad źródłem leśnym i ujrzał w wodzie swoje odbicie.
W końcu umarł z tęsknoty i miłości do swego odbicia.
Ona jedna widziała rumaki i wóz władcy Tartaru.
Demeter Matka, pani urodzajnych łanów i kwitnących sadów, płacze. Łzy gorzkie padają z jej oczu bolesnych na ziemię.
Polami wśród zbóż kłosistych idzie dniem i nocą, nie znając snu ni wytchnienia, bezradosna bogini w zgrzebnej szacie, z kłosem poczerniałym w dłoni i szuka swej utraconej córki.
Dwukrotnie wysyłał do niej Zeus swego posłańca Hermesa z prośbą, by wrócić zechciała do swej boskiej siedziby i nie trapiła dłużej ziemi spiekotą i głodem.
Demeter, uszczęśliwiona postanowieniem Zeusowym, zdjęła klątwę z ziemi i wnet odżyła ona tysiącem strumieni, zakwitła bielą sadów i zielenią drzew, zapachniała miętą i macierzanką, rozszumiała się lasem złocistych zbóż.
