Quotes directly from the source material is always a good thing. I also love hearing what the reader gets out of it himself. Many people can read something and enterperate it a totally different way. In the case of your videos... your opinion is greatly appreciated.
"I see you!" I am quite fond of the quotes; they give greater insight into the lore and the topics being covered. There's a reason your channel has grown so quickly and continues to grow. Of course, keep your ear to the ground in regards to what your viewers would like to see but there's no need to second guess your style, given the success it has brought your channel.
I like your videos that are heavy with direct readings from the books. It makes it easy to follow and you can’t really misquote or change anything or forget exactly what was written if it’s a direct quote. I love you videos. Keep doing what you do.
“I see you!” I never knew that quotes were a problem. I still don’t. More power to you. The fact that you ask for support at the end is rare and virtuous. I’ve been a subscriber for a while now. You are awesome.
I see you! 👀 Also, I like the quotes from the lore, because it reinforces the information that you present. Actually, it is for this reason that I subscribed to your channel and watched many of your videos. You aren't as much into hypotheses and speculations and when you present them, it is always done within the context of actual passages, notes, and other writings of the man himself (or his son).
I see you. I like the quotes because when I read them later, I have reference on how to pronounce some things. Plus, it gives us samples of the writing from Tolkien. Those words are scripture.
Regardless of the method you use to convey the information, it is the content that is most important, and that I enjoy the most. If, however, I absolutely had to choose, I do enjoy the long quotes -- I think they add a lot of depth and polish to the stories. Hope that helps!
I see you! Also, I quite like the quotes. I don't see how they could lessen the quality of the video's y'all make and they provide a legitimacy, as if citing sources. I'm good with them!
I've seen a bunch of your videos, but still fairly new to the channel. I very much enjoy the template of your videos, along with your voice. It feels like you're a natural storyteller!
regarding your question about quotes. I think the quotes are fine, but since I am not a native in English it can be sometimes quite challenging to listen to the quotes, but I can manage it at the end
It's well known that Saruman was into 'ring-making' and more than dabbled in 'Orc-husbandry'. So presumably he had some kind of workshop/lab. I find myself disappointed there's never any mention of what he had on the bench and the drawing board. Doubtless it would be unsavoury, to say the least, but who wouldn't want to know what else he had up his voluminous polychromatic sleeves
I built a city in Minecraft inspired by isengard. By design it ended up kinda resembling the imperial city in elder scrolls. Instead of a white tower its a black tower.
If I may suggest my friend, in response to your query to us as to whether we wish more quotes or narrative, why not both? By that I mean, I think you providing direct quotes from Tolkien himself within the structure of your vids, provides them just that more weight and dare i say, moral authority regarding each subject. That said, I think we also greatly benefit from you providing your own interpretive thoughts on each matter as well, since you have quite obviously through your research and studies of the great man's works, gained a fair amount of perspective, that we enjoy you sharing with us. So if your vids grow in length by a few minutes to accommodate both, I doubt you will hear any complaints. :)
I see you! I like the quotes because they give context to the information you give. Some of the quotes may offer tidbits that may lead to a viewer suggesting a new video topic for you to work on.
If there were more secrets within Orthanc they would be both terrible and great ancient lore from the years of the lamps to advanced crafts and designs of greater value in the coming years
I like to think that some relics of the Blue Wizards were locked in Orthanc, maybe because of Sarumans quote of giving Gandalf the rods of the Five Wizards.
this video got me thinking, how would the istari introduce themselves when first arriving to middle earth? considering why they seemed like old weary men. like how did the steward know saruman was the head of the white council. this would be cool to witness, maybe i dunno great content man!!!
I have a wild thought every time I hear that “build me an army…” quote at the start of each of your videos: 169k subscribers is quite an army, but is it worthy of Mordor yet?
Personally, I don't mind the passages. I do imagine that the ROP show will spark some degree of interest in the legendarium and Canon lore; passages can bring clearer context for both new fans/viewers as well as fans who are beginning to or casually exploring the other Middle Earth stories aside from the books and/or movies. Edit add: I also notice through the comments that your videos spark some incredible questions and theories. Love your content!!
@@railerswim I feel you. I was introduced to ME by the '78 animated The Hobbit when I was 4 or 5. Watching my nephew one afternoon, I put it on and he watched it 3x's in one afternoon. He's 8 now, read The Hobbit and can't wait until I give the 👍 he's at a comprehension level to be set free into LOTR. That's a seed planted. He watches lore videos because he's fascinated and it keeps him engaged. I have questions at least 6x/wk from him. Definitely not a family of Shills. Middle Earth has been my lifelong passion and "geek". I hold hope for all, even shills, that real, genuine love and want for the OG's works as they've been written can come. Woke & shillsters are getting called to a point where hopefully someone will decide to research their 💩
They may have found relics of the Blue Wizards. It is possible they perished, not given a second chance as they lost their way and Saruman came across their artifacts. If Saruman can track a body long lost down a river, its not far fetched he also had relics of the blue duo and Aragorn would have info of their existence given his long time with Gandalf.
I quite like the quotes, but if you feel it gets a bit to much you could also put the quotes into the description. So that we can stop the video and read the quote if we want to do so.
If anything remained unfound after Saruman’s death it would be his RING. Saruman actually made his own Sauron-like ring, and I’d bet dollars to donuts he put his own power into it just like Sauron did. They were both Maia of Aulë, of course. Maybe the ring stayed on Saruman’s body, but more likely he threw it into another stream before escaping, knowing that he too would remain alive after death like Sauron and could in time return to wreak havoc. Saruman always had an ace up his sleeve, thinking ahead of everybody else. He’ll be a new dark lord one day.
Stop asking if we want this or that or like some forms of delivery. It screams of someone not confident in their own work and not justifiably. You do a great job. By asking this criticisms to your audience, that I’m sure you ask yourself, you invite them to subconsciously come at your work from a place of criticism. Do it Bc you want to do it. Do it well, but do it how you want to do it.
I enjoy the direct quotes, it adds a deeper level of immersion than is possible with just paraphrasing or opinionated analysis alone. Also, the level of research to find those quotes that fit your videos shows sooooo much attention to detail. I feel equipped with enough background knowledge to enjoy the series that comes out soon. Many thanks!
At first there was peace; then Sauron invited Sarumon and sone chosen for their weakness of mind and flew them out to Oxford and ever after they spewed lies about Amazon's abomination.

Fantastic work! Thank you for using my music from Battle for Middle Earth Reforged!
I enjoyed the ratio of direct quotes to storytelling in this particular video, found it a pleasant balance.
I appreciate how you portrayed the information with quotes in this episode.
I’ll be interested in hearing more about the palantir.
Check this video th-cam.com/video/Z9TRcHkUL1w/w-d-xo.html
The tragic thing is like orthanc and other numenorian constructions, these things would never be built again.
They in a way were like memorials..
I like direct quotes. Gives context and sources. I appreciate that a lot.
I SEE YOU!! The Palantiri has always fascinated me. Thanks for your awesome content Broken Sword
“I see you!”
I never knew that quotes were a problem. I still don’t. More power to you. The fact that you ask for support at the end is rare and virtuous. I’ve been a subscriber for a while now. You are awesome.
I love the quotes, with the echo! Keep them up. Great back story on Isengard.
I see you! 👀

The video was well done. Long or short you guys always do an amazing job. Keep it up!👍
I see you...then again i see all of your videos. So keep them coming. Thanks for all effort and trouble guys.

I really like all the quotes just increases the validity but also shows the professors work
Would love a video on the palantir, also the flow of the video was good, quotes were good and provided good context
I love all the detail and quotes you included in the videos! Please continue making more videos like this one!
Great review of the history and significance of Isengard. More direct quotes from the books are appreciated by me.
I see you!
Also, I quite like the quotes. I don't see how they could lessen the quality of the video's y'all make and they provide a legitimacy, as if citing sources. I'm good with them!
The quotes highlight the depth of the validity of your entertaining and informative presentations.
"I see you." I like the quotes, they add authenticity.
I like it when you quote things so keep it up buddy ✌
It seems that TH-cam cut the “Build me an army worthy of Mordor.” line from the intro sequence…
I see you!
Thank you for the videos, I like the quotes from the books, makes it feel more in depth.
I've seen a bunch of your videos, but still fairly new to the channel. I very much enjoy the template of your videos, along with your voice. It feels like you're a natural storyteller!
Thanks so much! 😊
I see you! I also, like many other commenters love the quotes in your videos. I would love more videos like this. Cheers! 🍻
I see you!
I love the direct quotes!
I love the quotes!!! Regardless of how you do it I'll be listening :)

Yup would be interesting for sure, as well as his “To do list” stapled to the wall
Aragorn would probably echo Saruman and be like "Burn it" as he set it aside to burn, never to divulge their dark secrets again.
I built a city in Minecraft inspired by isengard. By design it ended up kinda resembling the imperial city in elder scrolls. Instead of a white tower its a black tower.
Yes! Not only a hearty ' I see you ', but please continue referring frequently back to the source material

Also yes keep the quotes

Saruman: so you have chosen death?
Love this video, in all the quotes.
If there were more secrets within Orthanc they would be both terrible and great ancient lore from the years of the lamps to advanced crafts and designs of greater value in the coming years
I see you, and so do hundreds of thousands of your fans!
I like the quotes and details! Thank you!
I like this way of talking about Tolkien’s stories but nothing wrong with the older way.
I like to think that some relics of the Blue Wizards were locked in Orthanc, maybe because of Sarumans quote of giving Gandalf the rods of the Five Wizards.
Now you gotta do a video on the elendilmir!
In a dark grumbling voice from beyond a thick fog that muffles all else you hear, " I....SEE...YOU"
Did your "Build me an army worthy of Mordor." get copyright-struck?
this video got me thinking, how would the istari introduce themselves when first arriving to middle earth? considering why they seemed like old weary men. like how did the steward know saruman was the head of the white council. this would be cool to witness, maybe i dunno great content man!!!
Many thx for yet another great video 👍 love quote "heavy " videos
I see you!
Also, I vote yay on the quotes.
I really enjoyed this video
Could y'all do a video on What If, Mordor/ Isenguard invaded Westeros? Game of Thrones
I have a wild thought every time I hear that “build me an army…” quote at the start of each of your videos: 169k subscribers is quite an army, but is it worthy of Mordor yet?

I like the volume of quotes in this post.
Here's an idea for a video. Would love to hear your pitch of what a LOTR sequel would be.
I see you. I love the quotes, please keep them.
"I See You" (Ominous voice) "Build me a video worthy of Mordor" Hahahahahaha
Nice work dude
I'm hearing music from the films, has he always done this and I didn't realize until now or is that more recent?
More quotes are better I think, as one tends to get more context. Plus, Tolkien just has a way with words.

What are people's favourite Kingdoms of the first, second and third ages?
I like the scrolling text as you read it. You certainly can't go wrong quoting Tolkien,
I see you
And yes, bring on the quotes!! The more the better.
I see you. Also, I like the way you speak the Quotes.
Personally I enjoy being read to by you, as I haven't all of Tolkien's published work...
I see you!! also I love the quotes.
Love the direct quotes!
Keep the quotes!! They are not long, and they substantiate what you are telling us about Tolkien's writings.
Another great video.

If Gimli actually "searched" Isengard there is little hope that HE would have missed ANYTHING!
Definitely enjoy the quotes! i've the books but it's nice to sit back and listen!
By the way............ "I See You"
Love the quotes!
I love the quotes!!
Saruman's undies were not recovered. Giving rise to the belief that Saruman had been going commando the hole time.
“I see you”
I like the quotes.
I'm not trying to split hairs, but Orthanc/Isengard was built by the Numenoreans long before the relatively small group called the Dunedain existed.
I think Saruman would have had somewhere a record of what the blue wizards were doing
I like the comments/quotes. And "I See You".
I See Thou I think he had an old Numenorian Airship hidden in there.
I see you
Saruman hid it well but his large collection of robes rivaled all others 😆
Intro audio cuts
you see me?

I love you using Tolkien’s beautiful quotes. (I see you)
direct quotes are good and preferred
Damn did they really make you get rid of that sound bit?!
Love this
I like all the quotes!
Do you guys still have any of those reading?
I enjoy the direct quotes, it adds a deeper level of immersion than is possible with just paraphrasing or opinionated analysis alone.
