Thanks for watching the video If This 1968 Buick GS400 Could Talk
Great story with a happy ending.
Very true...thanks Brian!
Al is one of the greatest men I have come across in my life. I just absolutely love hearing him tell this story. One of the greatest influences in my life.
Wow - that is one of the best comments we've read! Thanks for watching and sharing! We think Al is great!
Great story, happy you got reunited with your great buick. Hope to see it in Arizona in person.
Hi Gord! Great to hear from you! Knew you would love this Buick and you'll definitely be seeing it though probably after the restoration!
Nothing beats the sound of those old big block engines, just hearing this exhaust gets me stirred up.
We understand! Thanks!!
Nice story and cool car. Sounds real cool rolling down the road.
Yes she does! Thanks for watching Mick and leaving a nice comment! I'm sure Al will also appreciate it. The car is now beginning the restoration journey!
Thanks for sharing this heartwarming story! Makes me miss my red ‘70 Mustang fastback! I dream about getting that car back from time to time!
I hear you! I have had that dream about my 1979 Fox Body 5.0 Mustang that was my first car. Thanks Wayne!
Glad Al got his Buick back. Perhaps do another video once done, or several during the restoration. It'd be interesting to see that process.
Thanks John! Al and I just talked about that and yes, we'll definitely be doing a part 2 down the road!
Good for you !
Beautiful car!
We agree! Thanks for watching Dan and for such a nice comment!
Always enjoy a good backstory..... There are a few cars I wish I had back. Thanks to "If This Car Could Talk" for posting.
Thanks, Mike, for all your support!
My dad bought a 68 GS new in Pittsburgh. It’s his “ one that got away”. It had a 4 speed too. Pretty rare. Only made around 1300 of them.
Thanks for watching Josh and leaving your memory in a comment! Funny how they both came from Pittsburgh!
When I was a young GI, I spent my re-enlistment bonus on my first car, a 1968 Buick GS 350, the likes of which I have never seen again. The car had a functional ram air intake, over a Rochester, 4bbl carburetor, and an interior trim which many have flat told me I am lying about. The interior had vinyl bucket seats with a center console, and a gated, horseshoe shifter to shift the Turbo 350 trans. Unfortunately, I cracked a piston, and in the middle of rebuilding the engine, I got transfer orders, and had to leave my beautiful Buick behind. The Car was Bamboo Yellow with a black vinyl top.Tell me I am not dreaming this car up
We hear stories like that all the time - "they never did that or never came with those". We believe you and bet it was a beauty with that color combo. We had a 1966 Ford Fairlane GTA that, technically, never came with rocker mouldings but the original owner has photos of it coming off the truck from the factory WITH rocker mouldings. Thanks for watching one of our favorite features. BTW - this car is in the process of a restoration so stay tuned for an update when she's finished! Keep watching!
Nice. My first car was a '74 Pontiac Lemans. I sold it back around 1990 or so in Fayetteville, NC. Traded it in at a used car lot actually. My guess is the car is long gone but just in case... It was originally yellow but while I had it, I had it repainted a burgandy color and then later put a really bad black paint job on it in the driveway. It came with a 350 2bbl, turbo 350 transmission. I blew that motor up and had a 400 put in it. Just adding details just in case someone reads this and realizes they know where that car is.
Ok all you ITCCT family out there - be on the lookout! That would be so sweet if you could be reunited with the old girl! Hope to hear fun news one day! Thanks Travis!
Around 25 years ago I had a 68 Camaro with a Corvette 327 in it and a friend had an all black GS that looked the same with a modified 455. I remember we had a little race and I was able to get the jump on him and remember looking over and seeing him shift and he was gone. Fast forward I own a 72 Buick Skylark and I have a 455 in parts to go in it at some point. Thanks for the story
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
I remember a stunning 1972 Opel Manta A Coupe. It was picked up brand new and driven 10 miles to the dealership. It got hit hard on the rear by an idiot who followed it much to close. My Dad bought it and customized it a bit: Double taillights, some black pinstriping, a vinyl roof and a golden paintjob. It was actually a Porsche color. My Dad was the head of the GM dealer body shop. So he could fix the car there. My Ma drove it for a few years. And a Friend of my Dad was crazy to get his hand on that Beauty. Every Saturday he visited us and brought my mother delicious cookies from the bakery. That went on for nearly two years. At the end we sold him the car. He showed up once more with cookies on the next Saturday morning and then he vever did that again. Five years later he sold it back to my Dad. We sold it on to a friend of mine. Two years later my friend needed money and sold it back to me. So the car was in family posession for the third time. I traded it in for a Fiat Sports car. From then on we never saw it again. Once I thought I did see it in the City. It turned out it was a similar car. Those vehicles have quite a collector value and it is one of two cars I sold that I miss.
looky there i was convinced they were all 350,,,or 455,s i admit i forgot about that early model how sweet lovin it
Thanks Timothy!!
67 you could even get a W1 GS package in a V6 to the 340 V8.
Yes, boy what a great car... I had a 1969 Buick GS 400, hardtop, 4-speed, 3:42:1 posi rear... like an idiot, I sold it for a 1969 Plymouth GTX 440, 4-spd, Dana sure-grip 8-3/4 4:10:1 rear cogs. Loved both of those cars... now look, wish I had either, who knew!
We all have the one or more that got away and regret it. Thanks for watching and loving this GS feature!
Interesting I didn’t know Buick made their own 400 engine. Cool story to , hope he enjoys it for a long time.
Thanks for watching and leaving a nice comment! Al is in the process of the restoration so one day we will bring you a part two!
67 was the first year for the new 400.
Once we restored and painted a black 69 GS for a guy who gave it to his son as he had bought a mint survivor Black 71 Chevy Caprice.
That time that car was still "a bit new" for my taste and I am actually a hardcore fullsize guy.
I learned to drive in a … you guessed it, a 1968 Buick!
Cool!!
I wouldn't touch a thing except to clean up the engine bay. I'd drive it just the way it is.
you said it bullseye it is a very fun story for al well GREAT CAR GREAT WIFE cause no way my wife would even look at it umm just to say were in europe she drives a dodge haa haa
Happy wife - happy life!
