The equalities act enshrines in law different levels of access to rights for certain protected groups over and above non protected groups. It is a major part of the problem and obliterates the founding principle of common law, that of equality. Any party advocating its continuation will not get my vote I'm afraid.

Nope, first it's called the Equality Act 2010 and there is no hierarchy of protected characteristics in it. Unfortunately lobby groups have captured institutions and service providers to think there is a hierarchy of rights. That and the interaction with the Gender Recognition Act 2004 is what has caused the de facto self ID in many spaces/services that should be single sex.
