I’ve recently come across this party and they represent my values
And, hopefully, they'll be the Reform Party of next election; causing an up-set that results in the Labour Party taking a back seat or doing some significant re-aligning.
Well, he's the most sensible voice I've heard in decades. Plus, he also looks a bit like Peter Graves from Mission Impossible!!! 😅😅😅😅😅
Me too, and they're getting my vote. I want the Tories out but can't bring myself to vote Labour.
Well done William. Short, snappy - got the main messages across.
Left on economics, Right on social issues. People will understand why they need the party eventually. Nice one!
Yeah, he made more sense than any Politician I've seen in decades. It was refreshing to hear his voice in the era of self - entitled politicians. Plus, he also looks a bit like Peter Graves from Mission Impossible, surely not a bad thing. 😊😊😊😊😊
William makes an excellent presentation of the policies and aims of the SDP, within a very tight BBC format.
Strong from Clouston.
Too sensible to be prime minister he is steady no nonsense leader..vote SDP
Vote *REFORM*
@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne Reform this time, SDP next time.
Yeah, I actually liked this guy. Calm, sensible. Not a Gobby little Chav like Rayner our soon to be Deputy PM!!! It's the type of political thinking I haven't seen for many years, very refreshing to see.
You did us proud there, William! Great work as always.
That was a quality plug for the party...Well done :)
Excellent from Mr Clouston.
Honest and succinct , just needs to be heard wider.
vote SDP put respect back into society not westminster division
not sitting in my area so i can't
I'm a member of the SDP. I vote for them when they are on the ballot paper, or I lend my vote to Reform.
William handled that very well - the question asked on the gap in the political market was pretty gob smacking you would have to be asleep not to see it (whatever you think of it).
Agreed 👍 she is clearly a labour girl and thinks that they cover the important things in our society. 😂😂
Yup heard that and practically snorted out loud on the train... which parties would these be please!?
Well done William, a confident and concise pitch. It worked. I think many that saw that will have the curiosity to look us up ! Heres to more broadcssts!
Reform or SDP gets my vote
There needs to be more awareness of this party.
The SDP have now won my support for the long-haul. As a voter with a few years under my belt, I'm growing ever tired of those who dismiss the idea of voting on principle, in favour of "electability" or tactical voting with the larger parties. And then, those same voters act surprised when they don't get the politics they want.......
The SDP are meeting that public need for principled, serious, society-oriented politics, which we've been lacking for too long, and I am hoping to see them grow in the months and years to come.
This sounds far more preferable to Reform and Nigel Farage who wants to privatise the NHS.
No he doesn't.
@@alexandermcewen3440 Farage is a con-man who wants to privatise the NHS.
The positioning of the party is genuine and welcome and backed by the candidates. It is very cohesive because it's easy to back solutions to issues that make sense.
Good to see us getting time on MSM.
Great interview!
Great stuff, got the main points across pretty well
Excellent
A shame you're not running in my constituency.
I’m an SDP member, Definitely the best party and only political party speaking any sense. Sadly due to my work I’m not able to stand and there’s no SDP candidate in Exeter where I live, So I’ll probably end up voting Reform uk. There are a couple of independents standing but I’m not sure of their political beliefs, Policies or background.
Same, member also, but no candidate where I am. It'll have to be reform for now.
Reform speaks sense!
Shame I don’t have a candidate to vote for, therefore I won’t be voting.
This feels like Channel 4
I'd so vote for you if you stood in my constituency, of which you are not doing so!
The Interviewer is daft, no gap for someone like SDP? Its YAWNING open for someone like the SDP.
❤
There's an SDP candidate in my constituency and a Reform one but it will be the SDP who will be getting my vote. Their position on the economy is much more in tune with my own and too many Thatcherites in Reform.
BBC presenter's facial expressions around 2:36 just scream impartiality, not. Gone the days when british media asked questions with a straight face. There is a gap in the political spectrum for SDP. A party that wants to focus on industry isn't such a bad idea when there is a war on the European continent. No-one wants war, of course. But the corrupted souls will strike when they sense weakness. Some political parties risk making this country defenceless.
Having read the SDP manifesto there is nothing I fundamentally disagree with. It's a shame the candidate in my area made way for Reform. I don't particurlary agree with all of Reform's policies, but they are probably the only party to give Labour an staunch opposition. If tories finished 2nd in this election, then Labour will simply spend the next four years blaming the tory government for everything that's wrong and nothing in society will truly change. To retort Sunak's claim that Labour have no plan... Labour's plan is simply to not say anything that will offend anyone and by virtue of not being tories, will walk the election. They don't need to make outlandish pledges because this is probably the most one-sided election ever in Britain for a long time.
We wait expectantly for the question , "and Mr Clouston, what is your policy on immigration?"....and we wait.....and wait......."crickets".
It’s there in their election manifesto.
If the BBC will give this party airtime, why are they so shy of doing the same for the Workers Party of Great Britain? These are two very similar parties, apart from one obvious difference. Why no mention of Gaza? The workers party is even feilding more candidates. This is the establishment showing itself as biased against threats to established power.
What has Gaza got to do with Britain?.
She says on the full programme they will be doing the same for the workers party on another episode
Gaza already has a political party, it's in Gaza, don't need one here, its a very long way away.
Gaza is none of our business
Oh dear - just when I thought a party I could agree with (socially right, economically left), I discover they are pro-abortion 😢.
Abortion ought to be outlawed, it only affects one section of society.
You can't have it all mate. If you want your values repeated back to you exactly then just write them in a journal and read them out loud to yourself.
Jo Coburn was v dismissive and patronising but she is BBC
She also asked the questions that allowed him to get the message over perfectly
Britain is broken Britain needs Reform
Conservative and Labour just aren’t fit for purpose really. Too disconnected from what the public. Lib Dem’s aren’t offering an alternative. Come on SDP and Reform,
Who is funding this party?
It's members
Sadly no SDP candidate for me so I'm voting ReformUK
Vote *REFORM*
I joined the SDP in 1983. Like the majority of the membership, I voted to merge with the Liberals to form the (Social &) Liberal Democrats.
I left them in 2009 over religious freedom as they supported Ecumenism and the continued oppression and discrimination and murder of True Orthodox Christians such as myself, and refused to oppose Vladimir Putin's Russia under all circumstances, refusing to recognise that his regime is a continuation of the Soviet Union and soviet expansionism.
I subsequently joined the Christian People's Alliance, but it also refused to condemn ecumenism.
I am now Iberia co-ordinator for RejoinEU Party.
This SDP's opposition to European integration is totally opposed to the overwhelming majority of the original membership, as its pact and joint candidatures with Reform UK show.
Labour used to say British jobs for British people in the 80s....They would throw-up if they said that now. Comparing the SDP or any party to what they were 40 years ago in nuts. The new SDP is fit for purpose and fit for 2024 :) x
@@davidbettney785 Spot on. If the SDP were the same as the 80s I would not be a member due to the European view back then. There are only 3 Brexit parties, SDP, Reform and UKIP.
Patriotic Socialist ?
Clueless questions.
Total wasted vote. The SDP will have a better shot at government if they stand down for Reform this time.
They already have a pact 3:27 they talk about it here
Not the party for me. I'll be voting for the Reform Party.
Reform all the way. They are the only party that can save the UK from its decline into a 7th century caliphate.
How ridiculous to give this man only 30 seconds given they are not mainstream and people might need to hear a bit more . This is the BBC trying to be impartial in a blanket way
"BBC" and "impartial" don't belong in the same sentence.
