The 20 yd pattern looked ok but the 30 yd pattern looked gappy . BCO did a penetration test at 30 yds and had 1.5 inch average. In my opinion you should have at least 32 -7.5 pellets in a 10 inch circle at 30 yd or less to kill a big bird. I'm going to pattern some of those Win. XX loads out of a stock full vs TSS out of a stock modified . May have to buy a full tube rated for TSS. Otherwise, I'll laser some markers and keep shots at 25yds or less. Lot of turkeys are shot at well under 40 yds. Thanks for a down-to-earth review.

I upgraded the choke and tried it. Deff a 20 yard or less round in my opinion. Tried some tss and it’s the way to go for a more ethical shot. Ended up taking 2 birds with the tss 9.5 shot. Deff know the limits on a 410. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. 👊🏻🔥🔥

I haven't pattern my Rossi tuffy turkey 410 with factory choke tube yet. I did pattern the Carlson tss choke tube using Winchester loads.

I like the Winchester loads for squirrels lol. 30 yards and it’ll kill a turkey but I decided to spend the money on tss and it’s Deff a better option as far as better patterns. Been runnin the code black turkey .381 choke and it’s been doin pretty good so far. May start loading my own 410 ammo. Fun lil gun to shoot for sure

I’ll try. Just did some shorts today testing stock chokes with salt creek ammo #10s

I did the same thing you’re doing with the 20 ga. at 25 yards. No problem.

I would have to see this 7.5 lead (led) in ballistic gel or some kind of penetration test. You would basically be shooting a heavy dove load at a 20lb birds head not to mention the pattern is spotty. I don’t mind paying 6-7$ a shell for superior performance out of tss, especially with a .410. Chances are few and we owe it to the turkey to put him out quick. The #9 tss hits harder than #5 lead but you get double the pellet count. Easy decision for me.

I actually did order some tss just for that reason. It is pricy but u think what’s an ethical kill worth to u. I still think the double x would drop a turkey ethically at 30 yards without a doubt. But that tss is where it’s at just from watching videos on it.

I have that gun and same ammo with a red dot, as you stated ,a 30 yd gun all day long. Thanks for the video and good luck this season 🦃⚰️

Apex is more affordable than herters. You get 10 shells for 60$, with herters and federal you get 5 shells for 40-50$. Apex is far better than store bought so it’s a much better deal all the way around.

@@-B_G-this season on apex website it’s close to $75 for 410 shells. My stevens 410 doesn’t do well with apex. I ended up shooting Vioer last year. They are still around $60/10 shells. Apex works great in my 20ga

Just got my wife the same gun for turkey hunting, did you find that longer choke for it. I definitely think it needs a better choke then the one that came with it. Great review 👍
