"How do you know it was a baboon man, and not a regular baboon?"
"... Oh you're right, how sexist of me,"
That's gold right there
That was amazing 😂
Its very brittish of them to completely forget that as FBI agents they should all have atleast one firearm.
I love how Lucy was so in depth playing her character. Please have her back and also invite her on NRB! She’s a great addition.
Dom is a damn good GM. The descriptions are so vivid I can see the scenes in my head like I was watching an X-files-y tv show. The previous one was amazing too.
His "apocalypse players" podcast is amazing also, if you havent heard it, where he is both GM and player in different campaigns.
I absolutely love the range of Laurie's characters
Laurie theory: when Laurie plays a character, he thinks about how Ivan Brett from The Traitors would play that character
@@pasimysiini7665 LAURIE: How do you know my secret?
@@ChaoticNRB That's classified.
I knew Laurie’s character wasn’t trustworthy!
Would love to (at some point) just have a spinoff / behind the scenes of Dom explaining his scenarios, showing us his writing and explaining some of the questions left unanswered. I know it takes away from the mythos a little bit, but it would be facinating from a DM perspective! Loved the video, can't wait for the next one!
Same. Him and Becca Scott are my favourite call of Cthulhu GMs and I would love to pick their brains.
"you put the earpiece back in" is one of the best keepering moments ever, very well done, subtle and creepy, just perfect!
Rewinded a few times just to listen again, it was so good
"The Englishman has admitted to being an idiom". Not idiot, idiom. Nicely done Laurie
Who you gonna call? DOM ALLEN
Or perhaps “To whom should you place a call?”
Dom Alien this time
Dom is complete with with facial hair. Every time he shaves a piglet cries.
Its true
so he cries? /j
And that piglet is me 😢
true :(
I love the aesthetics of homeless people on the left and agents in blue on the right
"You might go temporarily insane"
Johnny: "Ah great!"
Johnny: I go temporarily insane everytime I play for the Oxventurers.
1:57:37 what an amazing sequence. The idea of having the voice from the earpiece talking to Laurie when the earpiece is no longer in his ear is chilling. And for a character that always has earpieces in the character might not have even noticed it aswell. I love how seamlessly dom states that the message occurs before the earpiece is put back in lol.
Yes! I didnt think that one line could be so chilling but it was!
I know! It was brilliantly timed...
"You were sharing information. Sharing is communist." 😂😂 2:48:32
Where is Agent Ivan Brett from The Traitors?
LAURIE: He is too loud for covert ops
I thought the guy with the earpeace was Ivan Brett from the Traitors?
@@ChaoticNRB *Ivan on an undercover mission* - "HELLO DARLINGS, IT'S ME!"
Laurie and Sully escaping from dino island on a mystery quest and chaotic neutral CoC in one day? I'm being spoiled 😍
Screw what I was doing before. I see Chaotic Neutral and Johnny and I guess this is where all my attention is going for the next 3 hours
I was thinking the same thing
Who you gonna call? C' thulhu!
*ominous chanting
God the two in the suit got the look narrowed down. They could easily star in a series that is legally distinct yet recognizable to the X-files fans
I would be addicted to a channel that is just Dom running CoC Games
You've checked out my CoC podcast Apocalypse Players, right? 😉
@@dominicallen541 oooh I have not!
@@dominicallen541 Oh I'll need to do that because you're *excellent* with CoC.
YES, MY MEDICINE. Chaotic Neutral + CoC . Thank you
LAURIE: Don't drink it all at once... or do... and then drink it again... we need the views
YES! I need more of this. hoping it's just a regular series on this channel.
LAURIE: We have a good few more planned
@@ChaoticNRB Glad to hear it! Keep up the great content! :)
@@ChaoticNRB Nice! :D
"Another Classic Railroad Ending", bloody love the Call of Cthulhu series, Dom's got such a way with describing scenes and the cast always engages with it brilliantly!
I'm only to the first scene so far but just had to stop for a moment to comment on how good Dom's American accent is! There's a subtlety to it that you don't often hear when non-Americans try to sound American, putting Dom in that rare echelon of Brits whose American accent doesn't sound like an old-timey cowboy or a 1940s New York gangster. Nice job, D!
Dom Allen AND Johnny Chiodini, it must be Christmas.
A nice reference at the end, “I have no mouth but I must scream.”
"You... you think I'm crazy don't you!"
Lucy - "No no.. we don't!"
Laurie - *Slowly nodding in the background.*
Man i am loving this oxventures x no rolls barred/chaotic neutral cross overs! Also Johnny is playing!
Johnny playing Call of Cthulhu? This is so huge for them and more importantly huge for all us Chiodini-heads!!
Chiodinians? Chiodinites?
LSP’s, Lovely Skeleton Pals 😊
"Oh Beans"
"them"? johnny, or the others-
@@failurenotsorry6600 Johnny goes by they/them pronouns
Speaking as a lifelong West Coaster, Dom Allen's American accent is spot on!
It just reminds me so much of Tom Ellis playing Michael on the show Lucifer.
He's an....dramatic pause.... ACTOR 😂😂😂😂
I watched many many roleplaying TH-camrs over the years, and this ist hands down the best acting of characters i have ever seen. Great play.
For those who care.
Im pretty sure this story drew on the HP Lovecraft lore of the ancient galactic war between the great race of yith (the colonel) and the flying polyps (the insect things).
Actually, I think that the "crab-people" (colonel, Ypsilon's bosses) are the Mi-Go. Their descriptions (crab-like, but with long faces) and their practices (wearing human skins, removing human brains and placing them in jars) fit perfectly. The insects are probably the Shan.
@@virusd900 It's definitely The Shan, they're all about pyramids and phasing through people's skin.
Appreciate the comment
Lucy Farrett was a blast! I hope she comes back, I loved her humour and her reaction to other people's humour.
I'm kinda insulted on her behalf that she wasn't listed in the episode's title (unless she's meant to become a regular, in which case, woohoo!).
She's got a great midwestern American accent. too.
I both love and loathe that you never get full closure on these
Took me several sessions to get through this because linear time sucks. However, this was lovely. One of my favourite things in Call of Cthulhu is how it's always "Everything's fine, fine fine... we're all dead and the world is ending." and that pivot happens in just seconds. 🤣 Thanks all.
Johnny needs to put "Old Nate" in more role-playing games like this. Watch Oxventure if you don't know what im talking about. "Oh Beans" 😂😂
Having the mystery that starts at Poe's grave end at a lighthouse is a top notch easter egg. These are always a treat.
Watching this after seeing Laurie and Sullivan on Dino Island really makes me appreciate the range of their characters. Another amazing Call of Cthulhu adventure as always and great fun with Johnny's paranormal investigator from across the pond.
Shout out to whoever decided on the (slightly) new camera angles! I was so confused in previous episodes. If there is not any new angles I guess you managed to reprogram my brain.. so well done either way😅
LAURIE: Hate to break it to you, but these are the exact same camera angles we have had in every single video on this channel. You've unfortunately been infested by our mind parasites so now you accept them
Lucy was a delight! I hope she‘ll be back soon.
Love Dom as a GM as usual, not only does he draw the players and the audience in with great RP and narration but he never overuses the same material. Great to see some of the extra terrestrial horrors from the mythos get Dom's treatment.
Spoiler
Mi-go, you go, we all go.
Man, the dating joke at 1:01:13 is incredible. I can't believe it was improvised!
I noticed that the curtains had green lights early on (kept drawing my eye) but I only realized at the end of the video that it was shot specifically to highlight the guests. Nice touch to the choreographer! (And, y'know, another awesome game by CN! lol)
Sidetracked by a clown car, this… this is what it’s all about!
Hilarious listening to Dom's nasally American accent I love it. It's well done and portrays the character its just bizarre when he switches so drastically.
What, more Call of Cthulhu?!?! 🐙 This makes me so happy! 😍 I adore Dom as the Keeper of Arcane Lore. This will be entertaining for sure! I love love love Call of Cthulhu. ❤️
3 hours into a 3 and a half hour episode is one *hell* of a time to drop the reveal that your character has been a girl the whole time, Sully.
Shout out to Johnny for no one picking up on the 'smoking man' comment
LOVE the connection to the earlier CoC sessions, make everything so immersive!!
I love this series. Dom’s amazing DMing, the regulars Sully and Laurie’s diverse characters, the guests’ fresh takes in CoC, the building lore in each session (callbacks are great)… fabulous work! 👏👏👏👏👏
I absolutely love all of these Call of Cthulhu games! Here's hoping for many more.
Dom is a goddamn craftsman. Where is the piglet application form?
You just need to find a large horse fly, and let it sit on your forehead to apply.
can we get the guys from the apocalypse players to guest star?? thatd be so cool
First time I’ve noticed a colour difference between Dom’s hair and beard.. he’s still super sexy though.
(In a David Attenborough voice) And here we see a piglet in the wild, guzzling down slop provided by its master: Mr Dominic Allen
@@diamondbandit8385 and? Lol
Lucy’s character work here is really good.
1) So glad Jonny got the nicest ending of the bunch
2) an ending just like normal X-files. Where some things make senses but lots of things are still totally confusing.
Absolutely the best episode in the Call of Cthulhu series so far! Such a creepy and well thought out mystery, every member plays their role so thoroughly and succinctly it genuinely feels like a TV thriller, but with absolutely hysterical banter on top
Please never stop doing this series we need so many of these!
I pressed play to watch this and then immediately had to stop because that Johnny fella is wearing an Amigo the Devil shirt, and I saw him live 2 nights ago and bought the exact same shirt and that’s exciting to me!
Sorry I don’t have anything substantial to contribute to the comment section yet. I’m sure I’ll be back lol
This is very, very, very good even if i hate not getting all the information to understand what was happening
Hearing Dom do an American accent was wild!! It’s so damn good!!
I might as well ask in case anybody else figured it out, or had theories:
[SPOILERS]
- Who killed Carl Fisher? Was it actually murder? A sign of respect? Why do that to his body?
- What was up with Mrs Fisher's 'dream'? Was the kid important?
- Why were the people at the base (presumedly) doing that stuff with animals and humans?
- What was the importance of the stone Carl's dad wore as a necklace?
- I think we know the significance of the pyramids, but why was the first one found where it was?
- Do we think that Agent Sully's prior circus undercover gig was related to any of the above?
Next episode is just about the circus escapades of Agent Sully
I really hope this is picked up in a future episode, felt like they set up an interesting mystery and then ran out of time to solve it
I am very pleasantly surprised to see Sullivan playing a . . . er, _non-silly_ character.
Had to come back to share!!! This channel (particularly the Call of Cthulu sessions) has finally inspired me to DM, or Keep... as per Cthulu...
I am in the works of hosting my first Call this weekend, with my own crafted story - per my creative experience!
Thank you No Rolls, and Dom - for - doing what you do to inspire the creative,, connective will of others!
I love this collab!!! Two of my favorite creating spaces! Thank you!
Dominic Allen best Keeper!
Johnny Chiodini eeeeeeeee this is amazing!
uh oh, that ending is going to make me crack out a lore document to start plotting out hints to connect the scenarios. as far as this episode goes, i really don’t know what to make of the connection since it was mi-go and not deep ones like in the first episode. and in the yellow sign episode nyarlathotep was heavily involved so i had a sneaking suspicion that the russian man was nyarlathotep as well but the way upsilon took him out so easily makes me question that. idk, much to think about, many hours to rewatch
Spoilers!
Edgar said
"You stole something from us"
And that
"We are working for the same people"
WHO ARE THEY
also, he said that they should run to the lighthouse...
I donno
Well so far we have also had a connection between the NRB COC, and the Yellow Sign of the Four, with the Peeps. So I expect we might see these seemingly unconnected groups come together, maybe with family ties
I'm also left with so many unanswered questions. Why was the corpse that started the whole thing "mummified" (I forget his name)? Why was one of the pyramids buried in a baboon's grave? If the Colonel and the Russian were both Mi-Go, why did they kill each other? I assume the Mi-Go stole technology from the Shan, but why all the clones? Hopefully we'll find out!
@@FrostedCreations It's implied the Russian spy was being mind controlled by a Shan, that's why he attacked the Mi-Go colonel. The mummification could just be the Mi-Go doing experiments on people or better yet it could be a discarded "skin suit" like the colonel, in The Whisperer in Darkness the Mi-Go are able to disguise themselves as humans using their corpses and remember that the mummy's body was empty on the inside. As for the clones, the Mi-Go have taken over the government (or at least the FBI) and the clones are their MIBs (Epsilon included).
The Edgar Allan Poe baboon holding the pyramid is the weird one. The pyramids are obviously used by the Shan to somehow allow them to escape Earth, but I think it was just a red herring if I had to guess, or maybe it'll make a comeback in a future video. There's also the possibility that since Laurie interrupted what Dom was building up to by killing the Russian spy, Dom had to abandon that plot point last minute and adapt around, so maybe we'll never know. 🤷
@@IAmCaligvla On a rewatch I think you're right that's all likely what was intended, it's just strange that the Shan came out of the open Mi-Go base. I guess he could have been a Shan inhabiting a Mi-Go inhabiting a human. Probably just an oversight though, or the players unknowingly forced things to change.
Lucy Farrett was such a treat. What a fun setting for this installment.
This episode was absolutely amazing!
It feels like Dom’s getting more comfortable pacing all the beats into the time constraints of a Chaotic Neutral shoot.
Not sure if it’s just me or a coincidence of theming but this scenario felt somewhat inspired by Disco Elysium.
Every single one of these is better than the previous one, the stories get more fleshed out and more interesting every time!
Monopoly but... Cthulhu?
2:17:00 😂😂😂
2:48:25 😆😂😆
2:55:50 Aaaaand we have continuity!! 🎉
If Johnny's involved, I'll watch whatever it is they do, and especially when it's a Chaotic Neutral video with Johnny in it!
As a native Baltimorean this is fantastic.
Omw the suits look so good on them really added something esp made me look at Laurie differently.
Dom! Brilliant American accent... every bit worthy of Alan Comming, Hugh Laurie or my next door neighbor here in Illinois... Ummm... no, better than my neighbor come to think on it...
Well, it's Illinois, there's not a lot of good here. And I work in Springfield.
Love me my horseshoes
As a big fan of X Files and the Cthulhu Mythos (and Johnnys P&P style), i'd like to thank you for making this!
I'll be feasting on this :D
Omg this is so great , I can't get enough of Dom's dm'ing he so good at putting atmosphere and figure out outcomes. And the players, just perfect balance between goofyness and serious Call of Cthulhu roleplay! Love you guys !
I cannot express how much I love Dom DM'ing Call of Cuthulhu!!
Nice Twin Peaks references at the beginning, with the music and the corpse wrapped in plastic.
I am sure Dom knows of Delta Green and I would love to see him run a session of it.
Also, you have A Thousand Years Old Vampire peeking behind the Keeper. When are you going to play it?!? 😊
I'm supposed to not be playing Fallout 4, now I've got Cthulu in my procrastination path too.
They came to the show? Johnny is one of the reasons I keep watching Oxventure.
"Like a disheveled gazelle" may be my favorite line of character description ever.
2:34:02
So much craft! I'm dumbfounded at this storytelling capacity.
I really like the Scully ( X-Files) vibes from Special Agent Sharon Russo😅. Plus... Laurry looks like Agent 47😂... Plus plus. Dom please never shave your beard. Because I expecting you to be as Ché or Carstro with a barrett at the next Commopoly session.
Ooh! The good time gal is in this
"Fox and Mule-deer Guesthouse" oh hecking heck 😆
Johnny and Dom in the same room! It’s two of my favourite DM’s together. We’re just missing Daddy Ben!!!!
ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn... I'm pretty sure that translates too: I'll watch anything with Johnny in it😃
Yaay Johnny
Edit: aaaand they're going to have nightmares for months now...
I wish Dom would dominate my Call of Cthulhu games
This is the best one yet, i was glued to my seat watching and listening to this!! Riveting storytelling from Dom, and great work by the cast
That was incredible, excellent puns, hunts, and story fun from you all, you made it worth it!
angory tom and then mr chiodini!! what a hell of a treat, glad i subbed
Please keep doing Call of Cthulhu content! Just amazing!!
Dom is an amazing storyteller!!!
Just needed to express it...
Poor Sully always has the worst fates in these campaigns, but also some of the best characters
Johnny AND Dom, a good day for Gnome Trolls Bard today!
Losing my sleep over this… but I’m so invested! Laurie is such a good actor, literary every game I see him in, he excels at character development! Thanks you for many laughs and cheers to all the crew! Hope to see more ❤
I have no idea who these two guests are but this is great! Love the X-Files/Delta Green type of games, they are also my favourites to run with my group!
That went quite dark. Very dark. Darker than the heart of a dead Black Hole dark.
