It's an absolute testament to Dom's skill I feel. Call of Cthulhu should be creepy but no-one (except NRB Tom) likes playing creepy characters over funny characters. For Dom to allow four players each to have fun with their character quirks and still maintain an atmosphere of spookiness is demonstrative of his ability as Keeper.
I tuned in to enjoy seeing Tom in something. But the entire cast were incredible, I found Dom's style as keeper to be utterly captivating. Now I shall have to dive in to the back catalogue of Chaotic Neutral shenanigans and watch the lot. I could not be more pleased to have stumbled upon this channel. Amazing work, thank you for the entertainment.
3:16:40 is such an incredible example of good roleplay. Tom essentially set himself up to be shot and lose a huge amount of his hitpoints, and went ahead with it because it's what his character would do.
There is a scenaro that you follow along as it is with most pen and paper RPGs, you usually push your players into right direction with clues that are in the scenario like a NPC or a book. There are different endings depending on what players know and were able to prevent.
I had to come back and compliment this because youtube app crashed at the end of the episode. :) #1 - Dom is fast becoming one of my favorite storytellers for online RPGs, his range of character and ability to manage player chaos is great. #2 - This is quite possibly the best use I have ever seen of the King in Yellow, most gms fall into a booga-booga monster pattern without understanding the gothic horror background of the character, its actually pre-Lovecraft and dates to 1895 by an author called Robert W Chambers for those of you who want to check it out. #3 - the final twist of the knife is the perfect Carcossa ending, and is beautifully executed by Dom. Every gag, every out of control player moment changes from comedy to horror, and the players don't realize it till its too late. The King in yellow isn't a tentacle monster our to eat you, or an uncaring cosmic entity. He's personal. He wants you to be your most magnificent self. Its just that sometimes the the most magnificent version of you, is the most magnificent disaster.
Yeah, post-Lovecraft inclusion of KiY in the Mythos just turns him into another boring wobbly space monster. I much prefer the ideas of what he could have been before he got lumped in with Lovecraft.

The fact that there was so much hilarity just made the ending hit so much harder. It's like if you were watching Dumb and Dumber but it suddenly switches over to Pulp Fiction.

@@shynarcissist Ah, that's cool. But the emphasis is definitely on the 'seem to be' - they all immerse themselves so well in their characters I can't tell. But I guess they are professional actors/presenters.
I'm pretty sure Tom has DM'd a game on TH-cam that featured Hastur, though I may be thinking of one of his CoC video game LPs.
Big smile on my face when I realized who Mr. Wilde was
I desperately want to double-like this video, this was quite possibly one of the best TTRPG one-shots I've ever seen. I'll definitely be watching more Call of C'Thulhu videos, as well as taking inspiration from this for my halloween one-shot for my friends
Wow, what a fucking episode. Never disappoints but this one hit so damn good.
I love my Angory Tom, thanks for having him and glory to the Algorithm for leading me to this great channel in search of aforementioned Tom.

It's very rare for me to get so unsettled, or even straight scared from a dnd bit, let alone some fun storytelling. This has to be the most frightening Visage I've heard. Dom, kudos to you as the madman you are!
Big mystery quest fan who’s subscribed here thanks to this
Really great podcast super funny and spooky great acting all round - excited to see if and who might be coming in to mystery quest in the future from here…
I am absolutely delighted to see Tom C on here. A roleplaying crossover I've always dreamed of!
Brilliant. Genuinely creepy in parts. I put it on to watch as I played Dorfromantik and it turned 30min game into a 4 hour one.
Will be interesting to see how much Laurie’s Mr Strickland creeps me out when I rewatch it.
OH MY GOD IT HAPPENED
I so wanted some collab between NRB/CN and yogs and here we are, I couldn’t be more hyped! My two favourite slices of TH-cam in one place!
Please get this group together again perfect synergy
Really great oneshot! First intro into this group (thanks to my recommended vids catching Tom in the title), and I'm definitely loving how it scratches that same itch as Mystery Quest. Also, the subtleties in the sound design were superb! So much attention to detail, it really felt immersive.
Oh my, the end was *_phenomenal_*
I was absolutely enraptured from beginning to end. By far my favorite of the CoC episodes y'all have done.
Sublime content as ever! Dom has fantastic presence as the game master, and the players really bring their characters to life 10/10
I love it that your release these as a 4h video, i hate waiting for the end!
So glad to see the RPG stuff, especially Call of Cthulu! What introduced me to your channel was the first Cthulu 3 episode campaign you guys did. Absolutely loved that and go back to it sometimes. Keep it coming please:]
For people just discovering Dom and/or Call of Cthulhu via this video, make sure you go and listen to The Apocalypse Players, the podcast he is part of. Absolutely the highest quality Call of Cthulhu podcast around and the rest of the cast are all excellent as well. They take turns running so Dom isn't always Keeper, but if you think his NPCs are good just wait until you see what he can do when he gets to focus on a single character.
This group is flawless Naked Gun energy. Also nice to see the Coke fiend crawled out of the bin and back solving ahhhh things?😅
Woop woop. The Great Old Ones are spoiling me. I've got this to watch now, and later on tonight, there's Time For Chaos from the Glass Cannon crew.
Another great CoC show. Would love to see a crossover there but Zoom only because the Atlantic’s in the way.
Omg, every scene in the pub just getting more and more intense was soooo good. Fantastic performances by everyone! The looks of appreciation and acknowledgement from Tom to Dom were also soo good. You could tell there was a real nerdy passion for the story 🦑💛
That ending was so smooth and perfect, it all came together so well
Again? NO WAY! Just what I needed this weekend. ALL HAIL DOM!
I do miss Ivan Brett from the Traitors. But, at least bald Ivan Brett from the Traitors is here.
Fantastic episode! Tillys character was an absolute gem, she played it so well! Cant wait to see more
K, so Laurie and Sullivan are such reliable entertainment - super work. Tilly's characterisation is always A1, and some of the looks to camera are class. Never seen Tom before, but I warmed to him massively throughout this.
But Dom... Just a total fancreature for him!
Loving the fact that Tilly's character ties this all back to the first NRB Call of Cthulu game.
There's been a bad murder, thank god we've got the best^1 detectives on the case!
^1 best available
I don’t know for sure if the ‘did a bad murder’ line was supposed to be a reference to Psychoville but it is in my head
@@AngoraWinch "done a bad murder" is a very Angory Tom phrase. He did a series of "Shadows of Doubt" featuring a lot of bad murders and also hard drinking detectives.
@@DavidRickmann He's been saying it a lot longer than that, but he strikes me as someone who's enjoyed Psychoville, too.
YESSS I can't believe it finally happened! Thank you for playing with Tom!!
THIS IS THE BEST ONE YET! Omg that was just amazing! I loved every second of it!
This was easily my favourite COC ep so far from you guys, the twist at the end was just, chef's kiss.
Dom, you terrible man, you gotta stop making up these beautiful scenarios that i want to try with my play group!
Hands down on of the best Call of Cthulhu GM around!!
And wow, Tilly here was perfect! The character she made is terrific and the acting spot on, so was everybody! So happy to have such great people play one of the best TTRPGS (and my absolute favourite!) Thank you guys! 🥲
2:32:07 that whas a VERY good squeeky noise from dom
ITS TODDY!!!!!!!! The crossover we all wanted!
this might be pretty niche, but I'm LOVING the repairer of reputations callback with mr. Wilde! The King in Yellow is my fav mythos
Can you elaborate that for me? I’ve been loving Dom’s COC hosting and wanna know more.
@@Fragger_PhrstMr Wilde is one of the main characters in The Repairer of Reputations, the first of many stories in The King in Yellow by Robert Chambers (which is essentially a weird fiction book written before HPL’s time but which inspired him and his friends quite a lot)- I haven’t finished viewing this ep yet, but other elements like “the yellow sign” and “Carcosa” are clearly inspired by TKIY, so if you’re interested in mythos-adjacent literature I’d definitely recommend you give it a read!
Appreciate all the nods to the source material.
Absolutely incredible video. Hands down one of the best one shots I have seen. And with Tom aswell! Cannot wait for more!
I'm so happy to see more of the Peeps family. Still got my fingers crossed for a followup with River and monsieur Peeps.
So good to see Tom in more stuff
Though NRB is also a treat as always, would love to see Tom in the other NRB content as well❤
