Great video, Marcus. Yesterday, I gave a Mini4K lesson to a nice guy. I recommended your channel to him to watch. His name is Joe. We are flying together again on Tuesday.
Return to home saved my drone few months back… it got lost for few minutes in mountains in Nepal and I never thought I am gonna get back but eventually Return to home.. Every useful feature
All your mini 4k tutorials are great! The best on TH-cam! Received my mini 4k today! I feel much more confident thanks to your videos! Thank you Marcus!!
Marcus, great job on the RTH. Great minds think alike and I actually have a short clip covering the exact same topic posting in the morning. I've had a ton of questions about RTH on the Mini 4K and wanted to show how it worked. I hope you're having a great summer and getting a lot of air-time in!
Hi Marcus, Thanks a ton for your detailed drone RTH video tutorial for DJI Mini 4k. I wish I had watched your video before my first drone flight. It would have given me a lot confidence. In my case, when I engaged the RTH, I found the drone pick up more altitude from where it was at that time (i guess it was below RTH min altitude). fly over my home roof. I guess I had marked my home point within confines of home. So, I had to land it back manually each time and also during the low battery warning. It was not responding to my joystick, I guess again since it was already engaged in return to home process. You have a brilliant production, your work is treasure for many budding drone pilots.
Hi Marcus, I recently bought a Mini 4K and happen to find your channel. I've really been enjoying your videos and have learned a lot as a beginner pilot. Thanks!
Last night, i was flying my drone, and my phone went dead.i was so scared that i wasn't going to get it back. eventially, my drone returned home home. This was my first time flying my new DJI I mini 4k. The video feed is awesome
very interesting and detailed guide, I knew RTH landing wasn't 100% accurate but it's good to learn all the other details before buying my first serious drone and not while flying it
Just got a mini 4k today. First mini quad. Sure is a far cry from my old Phantom 3 pro that I sold about 6 years ago. Decided to get back into flying again. Looking forward to getting it in the air in a few days.
I just got this drone a week ago and have not had the guts to fly it more that a couple blocks away from my house. Thank you so much for the video I will be more confident on my next flight. Do you have any videos on warning zones? I have a few areas near me with warning and enhanced warning zones but it says I can still fly it there.
😊I learn so much from your vidoes. If I had NOT watched your intro video to this drone before flying it, I would have been totally lost. 👉Question why doesn’t DJI offer a Feet / Meters switch to option... Like most modern cars do (you can toggle back and forth between MPH and KM) ❓❓ I'm a retired FF/PARAMEDIC and I know exactly what 100 ft is because I operated a 100 ft ladder truck. But meters?? I have no clue. Strange DJI wouldn't offer this for us Americans
Hi and thanks for the informative video😊 I have a technical question for whoever knows the answer. I have just bought my first entry level DJI mini2 se. What would happen, as an example, if I was to fly my drone from the top of a mountain, down into the valley below around 500m (around 1600ft), and pressed return to home? I have my rth set at 50m. If the drone returns to home, will it only go 50m up from the bottom of the valley before heading back to home or would it go 50m above my original take off point on the top of the mountain? In other words, does it know the altitude it took of from? Cheers for any help.
I've done that many times. Say your RTH height is set at 50 meters, and you fly 100 meters negative altitude from your take off point. The drone would then rise 150 meters to RTH. 👍
Hi Marcus, thanks for the video. I primarily fly the Mini 4 Pro and recently got the Mini 4K with the RC-N1C. I have a few questions about how this seems to work different with RTH. First I'm not seeing the H home marking shown on the screen nor does it show the green overlay when the Mini 4K is coming home. I see that you weren't seeing those overIays either. Is there any way to enable the showing of these overlays or is this just reserved for their more sophisticated drones? I find it really helpful to have the YELLOW HOME overly shown when trying to find your home position from a distance. Seems like the Fly App already knows how to show this so a bit confused about why it doesn't show it. Any comments? If you were to loose power on your controller and the drone got back home and then refused to land due to detected unsafe landing area (like it did originally for you), what can you do? Do you believe that it's less suspecting of it's landing spot if the controller is OFF or it has low battery? Appreciate any info, thanks.
The Mini 4K as as entry level drone does not have the augmented reality RTH feature of the more expensive DJI drones. Most drones like to see decernable features to know if it's safe to land. In this case it couldn't tell if the concrete was safe or not. Thank you!
Marcus my question with the new Mini 4K, does it allow you to yaw the drone during return to home like the original Mini 2? Of all the drones "I've flown" this feature was only available on the Mini 2.
OK What is you are having the drone follow your car or boat. Do you wait until you are ready to retrive the drone and then change it to the controller?
A couple of points Bill. 1. This one does not have the follow-me feature. 2. It does not have dynamic home point for the controller. You would need to reset it each time you move. 👍
The screen with height and distance bottom right and attitude top right? My screen is doesn’t have it. Do you have a video that explains the control settings? I bought my first drone this week. I subscribed to your channel.
Take Off permitted? Where does that info come from? I live approx 7 miles from an airport with flights darn near over my house. FAA won't signal drone to run away as I've had 1 drone to disappear never to be seen again.
@IdahoQuadcopter thank you for your response. How do I find FAA controlled airspace. Your drone stated Take Off Permitted, Is it due to drone registered & you've a license or?
@@nobleeagle7661 Check out the FAA Drone Zone website. You can use one of the B4UFly apps that they recommend. If in doubt I also consult the sectional charts. You can find them on SkyVector.

Excellent video, literally answered all my fears with return to home feature. Can't wait to buy one in a black friday sale
Thank you! No doubt DJI will put it on sale.

Great RTH guide for the Mini 4k, even I learned a few things that I had forgot about. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Del. RTH is an interesting feature with a lot of safeguards built in!
Thank you for some needed information. As usual, you did a masterful job.

Thank you! 😊
I have been manually returning to home but today I experimented a bit with the auto mode.
RTH can be a fun feature.
Great video on the RTH function. What is the grey graph on the middle left side of the screen on the phone?
Thank you! That’s the histogram. It tells you when your exposure values are right. 👍

Yes, you can. 👍
Marcus my question with the new Mini 4K, does it allow you to yaw the drone during return to home like the original Mini 2?
Of all the drones "I've flown" this feature was only available on the Mini 2.
You know Warren, I need to try that Yaw on RTH. I'm not sure.
Interesting question, Warren. I'd like to know the answer as well.
Can altitude be changing in air? if you want lower altitude rth?
Yes, you sure can. 👍
👍👍✌️ funny how it didn’t like the parking lot to land
I think the plain grey concrete fooled it.

If you're talking about the RTH altitude it is in the settings menu > safety tab > Auto RTH Altitude.
