Way to go Richard. I’ve replaced many Headliners in my 32 years here in Taylor. Even one like this one. I did a Hummer three weeks ago. The sun visors were the hardest to remove and install. Took me 12 hours. The fabric is wider than 54 inches. Luckily Capital City Upholstery Supply had a wider one. I enjoy watching all your videos. On this video you didn’t show how to remove the a/c vents. They just twist off. Keep Showing more of your great skills! Your Friend Eddie Perez

Great job as always my friend! Being a smaller guy (5'6", 150), I was always on headliner duty, especially in the late 70's and early 80's when the big switch from bow-style headliners to foam-backed headliners became popular among manufacturers. Your technique of using a steel wire brush is spot on! I also used a pneumatic die grinder with a rol-loc pad and light duty Scoth-Brite pads which worked pretty well too. But, as always trying to dig too hard could result in some "pits" in the foam shell. Keep up the good work, my friend!

A lot of people do not know that all the cross head screws are not Phillis. Phillips were designed such that the screwdriver blade would slip out of the cross to prevent damage from too much torque. It doesn't mean you can't strip out the hole in sheet metal. I believed it may mean so that the head of the screw is not twisted off. Regardless. GM used Posidriv and the screwdriver for his if used in Phillips will not seat properly and either wear out the screwdriver from repeated use or the screws themselves. Cars from Asia use JIS screws. They look almost identical to Phillips but the flat on the screwdriver cross that engages with the screw has a wider angle. So, if using a Phillips, the screwdriver at the working slot does not engage fully and it can strip out the screw cross. Early Ford's used Reed and Prince. I personally like Torx. They grip without having to apply lots of pressure as with the other style and grip in both directions. Definitely easier to install and remove. I am not familiar with modern GM vehicles so I am unknowing what type of cross head screws they employ in new vehicles. Thanks for posting this. It is so easy to break plastic in new cars and this is a very instructional video and worth the price of admission plus.

…And don’t forget technique #101… Fill out the invoice while the aggravation and hassle created by the auto engineers and customer is fresh in your mind.👍

Hard work and sticking with it always pays off. As a skilled tradesmen my self. I already know you make it look sooooo much easier than it is. I sucked at welding at first too. So I'm ready to suck at sewing. But I won't be beat. I'm very anal. So I love when you say. Check your work!!! Always always always
Hello Ponce, well this is an incredible life story. I can see you don't let much get in your way. Really any new or used industrial sewing machine with reverse, a walking foot and a welt foot will do. Check out this video. th-cam.com/video/esFs9VRfQ5g/w-d-xo.html Please keep liking and watching!

Hello JJ, Yep, the passenger door opening is our friend. Please keep liking and watching!
The most difficult headliner I ever installed was in a 57 Chevy post that all the tack strip was gone

Using the combination of the two.The wire wheel is worn out. it would be faster if you had a newer wire wheel.
Hello Michael, Some headliners cannot take the wire wheel. Some are glue with the consistency of syrup, and would easily clog the wire brush. Others are too fragile and the headliner would be damaged. Please keep liking and watching!
