I have that exact bike in the 22" frame and the same Dolomite paint scheme. It's the 1991 model. I bought it new in Washington, rode it hard for 30,000 plus miles over the next 30 years, and it's still as good as new. They are truly one of the best bikes ever built.

Did this every week for 6 years,Its still the best ride ive ever had .so smooth and the head bearings never needed looking at .I wish i kept it

One of the best retro MTB of all time!
Let's not forget the Bridgestone MB-1; fun little retro-rocket(!). Doing a 1 x 10 conversion (Advent X groupset), running 2.3s, and a wider riser bar adds some modern spice to the trusty steed. Borrowed a friend's; it was a blast. The Brooks saddle was super-nice too; took the sting out of washboard sections and crappy roads. Bike handled telepathically.

I remember riding through the woods back in the 90s on my cheap mountain bike and seeing a guy who was riding a Klein. I’d see him every so often and boy did I drool over that bike. It was bright neon green.
Can't beat how smooth these bikes operate..its night and day. Nice clean rebuild🤌
Remember these when I was racing at the time, a dream bike. Just restored my 1992 Diamond Back axis with the same XT group set

Sadly I couldn't afford an early original KLEIN ATTITUDE however I do have 2 later 2000 era ATTITUDE's that I'm working on. Ive decided to go with 1x11 drive train for a modern riding experience, but ill be painting them in early paint schemes, Gator Fade and Horizon linear.

I was wondering how that was held in. Is it like the Cannondale Headshock bearings?
@@el_micha it’s cheaper and faster for assembly. It’s also a pain to remove which is why Old Shovel did not disassemble the fork, but resorted to greasing an area that doesn’t require grease
@@pcbootleger But if it just lasts? I mean when the sealed bearings are shot, they need to come out and new ones come in. Ok might be harder to change for the average human. I find adjusting cone bearings a pain - esp. in wheelhubs and cranks. Most other industries just rely on sealed bearings. And oddly enough they got to withstand much harder conditions than mt.biking and still last…
@@pcbootleger I guess it is a press fit as used for bottom brackets since a couple of years or in other industries. The steerer tube might be milled out a bit or sth. like that, so the bearing has a seat I suppose…

$4500 is the going rate for just the frame for these bikes with the original paint. It does seem high until you understand the rare value of this bike.
All the original '92ish Deore XT... The Cooks crank... The paint... The frame....The rarity... This is a package. The parallax hubs with rhino lite wheels was very fitting.

I recently picked up my 90s dream MTB, a 1994 Giant Cadex CFM3. All original parts except a replaced front rim. I love it, but the 90s aggressive riding position doesn't love my aging bones.
On another note, I had the same Suntour Self-energising canti's as that Klein on my race bike back then.
That Walmart back wheel was blasphemous..lol.

Kijiji Guy had three he was selling together for best offer, here in Toronto. I later enquire to find they went for $7500 CAD. I rode a fine burgundy one at a store, back when. Crazy money then, too.

What a great restore! I’m a 90’s kid and I’m still biased that those were the best years for cycling. So many great memories. Thanks for this one.
I would have changed rear brake cantilevers with spare Shimano, replace rear brake pads and re paint seat post.
Also black rims and a stem more straight. It would be really awesome!!!
So glossy! i have a mat finish with is great 500404KR | RAL 5004 | witch is a awesome color to f1 red bull, but that gloss... Oh the grass is greener on the other side but im happy with my color, always black but in full sun sooo purple you should try it Shovel!
