- It is best to use the 1HP Last Stand Apothecary build for defeating these citizens. It should be able to one-shot most of them depend on your equipment loadout.
I have received these weapons in as little as 3 tries, and at most 80. It's all random so just keep on grinding them. Best ones in my opinion to farm for are the Blade, Axe, Bow, Staff, and the Robe.
For single zone areas such as S'warkii or Atlasdam, you can just fast travel between two locations, or use a savepoint.
For areas such as Bolderfall in which you have to load a different part of the area, it's best to beat the person guarding the house then take the staircases to the north area. Exit the game and load up the autosave file, it will put you in the lower part of the map with the door person already defeated.
I mis-worded (is that even a word) the part about obtaining it after certain quest. It can actually be farmed as soon as you get Olberic or H'annit, just be prepared for a long fight if you chose to do so then. You can obtain one of each by purchasing them from others after certain quest. It's been to long since then, not even sure how to get those anymore, but they can always be farmed.

I haven't seen this anywhere but isn't the NPCs that drop the battle-tested weapons the previous eight travelers. The one in bolderfall mentions that he used to journey with 7 seven others and the old lady in clearbrook has some hidden past, they are all hella strong, maybe not all of them are past travelers but it is interesting what the one in Bolderfall said when inquired and what it could mean if a sequel is made.
A bit late, but the official guidebook for Octopath traveler has a section on the true final boss and talks about it as if from the perspective of a group of travelers who have already faced it, meaning these 8 characters could've fought that same boss which is interesting to think about

You can also just travel between two places instead of resetting. It feels faster if you need twoweapons at the same time.
Fabiocean yeah, I say that in the description. Not worth fast traveling to multizone areas though, since you have to keep loading a new zone, and in Bolderfall you have to load a new zone everytime and defeat the door guard.

At lvl 57 some ennemies don't get ohkoed (like the axe one)
Warmaster Olberic using the "throw weapon from inventory" helped double the damage (used a 222 att sword i had in extra)

For anyone still wondering about stats and equipment for this method, I can tell you what I used. For starters you are gonna have to be around lvl 75 to consistently hit the damage needed. Maybe less if you use nuts. For skills I used Surpassing Power, BP Eater, Fortitude, and Physical Prowess. For equipment Death Cleaver weapon, Any shield works, Gareth's Helm, Robe of the Dragon Princess, and two Physical Belts. I was aiming for the highest crit chance i could get with the highest damage.
so in other words, this is a useless video like so many of his others because ofc using the best abilities from the hardest bosses would make this trivial

Do fortifying nuts make much of a difference because i used them all on h’aanit before i realized that olberic is basically a better character
Beef Good Sir HP is increased by 30%, SP by 6%, and other stats by 8%. Medium and large nuts, respectively, double and quadruple these values.
So, you'll need the apothecary class, obviously.
You'll also need surpassing power, from warrior class passives.
You get a battle, let your character die, then either run or finish the fight. A cleric or the small olive of life should bring him/her back with 1HP.
a better strategy would be to just challenge and then purposefully lose as it brings them back with 1 hp

I don't know if luck works differently between the Switch and Steam, but I got Olberic to level 95 farming battle tested shields and only got 4 of them. I remember on Switch having 8 of them pretty quickly.

damn, been doing this for a week. not ONE fucking battle tested weapon drop. that's at least 800 tries, over 150 hours logged and I'm guessing that at least 50 of those was for trying to farm a battle tested shield.
Anyone watching this video now should know this guy hasnt giveen his equipment or skills 4 Olberic in this video. if I had to guess I'd say he became warmaster got all the skills that boost HP and physical strength from that then he went and got the best gear you can get for making your guy as strong and having the most HP as possible and then he went and did this. I'm pretty sure he's at least level 90 as well so anyone who's just strolling in who's level 70 like me and thinking they'll be able to do this, this way, think again because this guy has Bamboozled us.

For some weapon types yes but for others no. Memorial axe is better than battle-tested axe and giant's club is better for physical damage than battle-tested staff

This is like at the end of the game chapter, or post game. If you want to chalenge them on earlier use haanit provoke, but you must know which monster to use.
I got a Lv40 set up,
Olberic with Apothecary sub class
At the lowest tier i got
Elusive shield, oasis hat, imperial armor for my armor
Accessories Proective bracelet, Dragon's scarf
All you gotta do is simply poison and heal stall til they die,
(Started with Clearbrook and if i don't drop the weapon i get lots of free levels making the other stages easier)
I'm using your method to get the battle-tested bow but I'm curious if a certain side quest needs to be done first in order for her to drop the bow. Because I've been fighting her over and over almost 20 times already and I don't want to waste my time fighting her 80 times if there's not even a chance of her dropping it. Is there a certain side quest that needs to be completed first in order for her to drop the battle-tested bow?

the key is support skills you will need Fortitude and Physical Prowess from Warmaster , BP eater from Starseer and Surpassing power. Now with only 1 hp your Last Stand should hit very very hard.
Sorry, the drop rate on these are terrible...you will waste so much time doing it this way. Your better off fast travelling to each town after a kill and just keep rotating. It's going to be a long grind, drop rate is TERRIBLE.
Does max hp factor in to fortitude's damage or is it just percentage based?

Jupiter ... i think so, too. which means that mote max hp will have an effect. I just haven't played Alfyn yet or an apothecary subclass to use LS more often.

The big question is whether you can drop more than 1 of the battle tested weapons.
I tried it with the shield and dropped one very quickly, but then got nothing for 2 hours before giving up.

you can get as many as you want. I have 7 Battle-Tested Blade

They are some of the best weapons in the game. There are only a few weapons better than the Battle-Tested weapons, but you can technically get them as early as you get Olberic or H'annit. It would be wise to wait till you can easily kill them though.

Yow. My Last Stand’s damage is only 13k. Note that it’s critical damage. Mine is level 60 with 4791 hp. Equipped with Golden Axe. Support Skills: Summon Strength, Surpassing Power, Fortitude, Physical Prowess. What am I doing wrong, can’t one hit them. Lol
besides the fact that youre not using bp eater, richards is lv 96 and so besides definitely being at 999 atk with weapons, hes also got a ton of health which will causes you to do more damage if its percentage based (I think) as his 1/6692 hp will be doing more than your 1/4791 hp

Pigpug Pigpug you can probably just let him die and revive him with the revive skill.
One method could be to lose on purpose in a duel, since you don't game over from losing duels against NPCs but just end up with 1 HP.
I dunno how he did it though.
Use poysenberry to poison your party member and just leave him to die

I'm confused, you quit out after beating them, wouldn't that just make it so that it doesn't have you getting the battle tested item, thus loosing you progress? Do you defeat go over to the save board, save, then quit out? Can this be done with literally anything if I just defeat/steal/open chest, then quit out?
TG No, he’s only quitting out whenever the item doesn’t drop as it’s a fairly low drop rate

Why do you need to be at 1hp? New to the game and don't understand.
Last Stand does more damage the lower your hp is from max. 1/~6k hp = big damage. Additionally, a passive skill that skyrockets physical damage for *all* skills the lower your hp gets, Fortitude, stacks with Last Stand.
Is it known how many HP they have?
Not to sure. Only way to do so is to equip Olberic with the Scholar class, but i know they don't have enough to survive a Last Stand at full power.

The way the battle system works, one of your characters will always move first in any battle unless your team is "surprised". And you can't be surprised in a duel.

ShiitakeWarrior Surpassing Power (warrior), Fortitude (war master), Physical Prowess (warmaster), and Heightened Senses (hunter) so that you can go first in the fight.
As for equipment. Anything that’ll raise your HP and Physical attack will help. There’s an axe called doom bringer (or something like that) by completing a quest called “Zeph and Mercedes,” which is a two part quest, and the axe will be rewarded after part two.
ShiitakeWarrior NVM, you always go first in a duel. Go for either hale and hearty (apothecary) for more percentage build up for last stand, or summon strength (warrior) for higher base physical attack.

The more Hp you're missing the harder he hits. 1/9999 would hit harder than 1/8000 for example.
Farming bow is hardest. He use light, dark and ice damage.
