Just watched a podcast with Dr Basanta Panta - he's such a gem in the Nepali medical field, and I absolutely love listening to him! Just a quick correction about what he mentioned regarding the health insurance system in the UK. Since I live here, I thought I'd clarify: what we have is called National Insurance. It’s used by the government for things like healthcare, the state pension (which everyone gets after a certain age), social welfare, unemployment benefits, sick pay, maternity/paternity pay, and more. It’s not a flat rate as he mentioned - instead, it’s based on income. Higher earners pay more, lower earners pay less, and people with very low incomes don’t have to pay at all. This way, healthcare is free for everyone, no matter how expensive the treatment might be. That aside, his insights on philosophy, science, and Nepali politics are absolutely unmatched. Always a pleasure listening to him!
Dr Pant has portrayed Nepal's medical situation. I hope it will change in the future. If the current situation doesn't change, Nepal will lose many potential doctors.
Such a humble doctor. I really like the way he talks and information he conveys. Ani Sushant brother kudos to you for asking out your curiosity on psychedelics. I really enjoyed this podcast. Cheers and keep shining Sushant bro!! Lots of love and respect to you!♥
Hello, I have been following yoyu podcast for a long time now and I must say I love how you give space to the guests. Just a small suggestion, I would enjoy it more if I can find the guest's background and what they are currently working on, to give the-us, audience a door to follow their work.
The only podcast i have not skipped a single word. Being a Doctor of Nepal, i also think that if management part been done properly then most patient would not have to die due to a disease called poverty.Policy makers should be active regarding the issues.
Post graduate training must be open at private hospitals such as Grande, Mediciti for example. They already have a setup and professors. Yes, what’s the point of taking money from students for post graduation. They are highly skilled work force of doctors who take care of patients round the clock. Just open enough spots for post graduate training and give them enough salary.
I exactly felt the same sir I live in Butwal here all people from up and andra Parrish comes for check up If you can only do 3000 surgeries in a year Imagine Dr like u 10 in whole country We can establish Nepal as country of hospitals not only just hospitality❤

47:00 - why income/wealth based health insurance is not easy in Nepal is because people really want to hide their earnings or involvement in informal economy...this dishonesty plagues Leaders as well as citizens...

Always an admirer of Dr. Pant. Really love his perspective on health and his confidence and wisdom regarding neuroscience.
