Fun fact: that gangnum style Giganto was the first (or at least one of the first) mods that were made when people figured out how to change the animations.

The fact that sonic in this game calls tails “little brother” bought a tear to my eye there are so many wholesome moments and callbacks to the past the fact that the ancients are ancestors of Chaos, the relationship between Eggman and sage and actually the relationships between all the characters. as a long time fan of the series to see it treated with such respect for the first time in years, it made me so genuinely happy.
We all know a game can only TRULY be good if it has a gamer hat.

Frontiers is a breath of fresh air and in so glad to see that sonic is getting back in his feet. I also love how the first mod I saw for frontiers was making Giganto do Gangnam style. Mods are a gift from God

The way DLC is handled differently in Sonic Origins and Sonic Frontiers is night and day

Considering the size of the development team, I find this game to be very impressive. It’s not perfect, but I loved it.

@@terreausore2435I mean, in this case it is realistic expectations. You can't expect a team of 50 people to pull out a game on the same spectrum as Breath of the wild. What they were able to accomplish here, considering their budget and the work that has to be done for the game to come out on all big platforms, including the Switch, at the time is really impressive
I gotta say, I’m a huge fan of the latest update to Antdude’s idle animation pose: rubbing hands together. Really makes you feel like Antdude, 10/10.
I REALLY want to see you try out the Freedom Planet games, Dude. They were strongly inspired by the classic Sonic games, but added their own twists to things. Unfortunately, aside from the Super Best Friends many years ago and The Completionist more recently, they've hardly received any publicity at all!

Sage is such a good addition to Eggman
There's also a total port of the 06 hub worlds over Kronos Island with actual stages from 06 replacing cyberspace stages. They are almost completely functional. There's also a mod that loads the full version of Kronos from when Kronos, Rhea, and Ouranos were one big island.
I cannot wait to see the crazy stage mods we get. And just imagine if we get some crazy boss replacements for Super Sonic?

I would have to say the biggest selling point of Sonic Frontiers for me is the the story and character development; it is easily some of the best we've gotten since the Adventure era, and redeems Tails, Knuckles, and Amy (just in time since they will be playable next year)🤩
Even Dr Robotnik get some much needed character love through his relationship with Sage (aka the best new character for the franchise since Blaze)🤗
I would have loved if they handled The End better, but Ian Flynn did an AMAZING job overall 😎

All I have to say is
At 24:58 there were also some limited time items you could get in speed simulator as well as in a bunch of other games. Like how you could get the sonic skins in funky Friday, that tied in with lord X from the sonic .exe mod, yeah it's a bit weird, but we ARE living in the era of crossovers so...
Now I’m waiting for Sonic’s new moves to be in smash. As a Sonic main, I hope it’s similar enough
Imagine Super Sonic being just like the old Giga Bowser and Wario Man final smashes and it’s just an uber powerful Sonic with this new moveset, it would be incredible

The skating animation is ripped from sonic forces, and was retargeted to work onto sonic's skeleton, and the person who developed shadow frontiers, did the same thing, Heck, I was even trying to give them advice on how to do it when they were trying to figure it out. So yea, misinformation is annoying and I don't take people's work, everyone in that community knows that

What I like to do with the boost is turn all the gameplay sliders up (except camera), get the infinite boost and the mode thingy for the faster boost and just use the cyloop as a sort of boost trail, looks really nice imo

The fact that the camera shaking (and the stomping sound effects) is actually synced with Gangnam Style Giganto is probably my favorite thing about the mod, other than the fact that you have to climb him while he's dancing.

I like that it had a low enemy density with strategic placement rather than a plethora of enemies. It allows sonic to run around more unimpeded

The amount of Love that the devs put into this game can clearly be seen.
This isn’t the return of Sonic, but the proper evolution of the series that we’ve needed, for ages.
Reused assets are literally a common thing in EVERY game, in every franchise, so again, keep crying.
And with more coming to this game throughout 2023, this game is bound to set Sonic in a right direction. (Finally.)

Been addicted to this game. My new favorite Sonic game.
Oh you mention the flying off the ledge thing. That happened so much at the start but then I started learning how it happened, then I start incorporating it into my movement. There was this one part on the final zone that you had to get to a far off island on these rails and a whole obstacle course for a time trial.
So I get speed and send myself flying, then barely catching a rail. I didn't make the full skip, but man was that fun. I started getting good at doing it

For the Shadow Frontiers mod, theres already a better one by another user with better quality in general, although without any voicelines (there are some voice mods to correct this though)
Someone originally modded the Super Mario 64 engine into Sonic Generations. Now imagine that in this game

The accidentally flying off ledges actually help me out in the game a lot for example. I was trying to get to tails and I didn’t know how to get up there then I found it. A ledge. I flew away and got close to the platform tails was in and realized I could use that ledge to my advantage. It took me about 30 minutes to get up there but once I got up there I was astonished. But at the same time very happy. The ledge jumping if used correctly is very useful.
So very glad you brought up Sonic GT it's my favourite Sonic Game period, held back only by its length
Usually, I have varying opinions about Antdude's takes. But here? Almost Spot-on. I love this game.
I hope to see a full dive into the game from Antdude when the final dlc is out. Want to know with all the spoilers his thoughts on it.

Frontiers is an amazing game and I hope Sega keeps it going with this formula. And you're totally right, Sonic can handle a serious story. I'm glad Sonic Team didn't make it a saturday morning cartoon like they've done in the past. Big ups to Sonic Team!
A character who protects Eggman until the end and decides to raise Eggman himself as a daughter I never thought I would love sage so much I can't wait to see how she interacts with Eggman in future works after she gets her feelings. Could it be a cure for his stress? It's been a long time since I've enjoyed Sonic in a game; just the right amount of space; lots of nostalgic stories; and the story of the ancients and koco. I'm also looking forward to the DLC
Glad I'm not the only one that made the Cyberspace Stage/Special Stage connection, although it's wild to think of the previous games' main gameplay style as the Special Stages these days.

I'm a console gamer. Mostly because I like having the physical version of games. But boy howdy do mods make me want to buy a game again just to experience stuff like this.
The Tetris puzzles were actually mu favorite challenge in the game! It might be different if the other challenges were more... you know...challenging.
Honestly playing lego dimension’s sonic content and playing as him in that game prepared me for this game. The idea that you can just zoom up high on the air unexpectedly is something I use for my advantage with those games that it just fits sonic the hedgehog. The core concepts of his classic zones being that the momentum you build up gets rewarded to get pass through quickly is somewhat being replicated unintentionally and I like that a lot.

I think the reason why it hasn't seen a re-release yet is because there is currently some legal issues surrounding the game. According to Ian Flynn, the reason the game was left out of the Encyclo-speed-ia is because it was out of Sega's limits at the time, going further to say it was so far out of reach that it couldn't even be mentioned by name.

One idea I'm looking forward to someone doing is incorporating is more NiGHTS-like gameplay and levels. Like having the sparkle trail for the Cyloop, using the Sonic Into Dreams model, traversing a bigger version of the levels from NiGHTS. Seriously, we need more NiGHTS integration into Sonic nowadays. Along with a new (& GOOD) NiGHTS game, that would be...really nice. :')

These modders have too much power. But all ranting aside, the imagination is dangerously limitless. I remember seeing a clip of 23:28 on Twitter just a day or two after it was out, all I can say was "they done it again..."

Turns out the best thing I've experienced is not the movies, not waiting for the chance to get the game, uh... Prime wasn't exactly what I thought in terms of which audience it was faced towards which... Hurt me pretty bad. The thing that made me happy all Sonic Season since 2020-2023 is SONIC AND TAILS R. I loved the sky fight with "Fly With Me" playing in the background. It made me feel the same way Spirited Away did when I was a kid. I'll be on the look out for animations on that TH-cam radio show, uh podcast, I guess?
I love how The Super Sonic fights feel so much like an Anime Fight(specifically Dbz) bc Sonic has always had that Shonen aesthetic in the games. Definitely the best super sonic fights we’ve gotten from the games
