I was always amazed at the strength Tony had in these scenes how he was able to push down his pain and agony and look at the bigger picture, not many people could do that and couldn't blame them
Can only imagine how much Tony would’ve been gutted knowing that his daughter had massive head injury, would not recover.. To take that moment and allow them to give BJ’s heart to Maxi... the storyline always makes me cry
A LADY I KNOW, A NURSE, CAME ACROSS AN ACCIDENT AND SHE STOPPED TO HELP AND ONE OF THE 4 KIDS IN THE ACCIDENT, DIED AND IT WASNT UNTIL ABOUT AN HOUR LATER WHEN THE POLICE CAME TO TELL HER THAT HER SON WAS DEAD, HE WAS SO DISFIGURED, THAT SHE DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS HER SON
Look at this. Tells me am getting old. Used to rush off the bus to see this. Am 42 now. And i was about 6 when this happens. Still i dont know if i would have the strength Tony had to do this.
The acting with BJ's and Maxie's storylines is amazing! I cried buckets as a kid and now as an adult. I can't even imagine going through either if I were a parent. 😢
I hate what the writers did to Bobbie and Tony. When they should have been comforting each other, but because of a stupid affair that shouldn't have happened! Way to go, GH!!
to stun and hs, you're both right.....they really put Tony thru hell the first 14 years....he was a true survivor.........all that he went thru.......from losing his first wife, Tania then B.J., his only daughter.......then later he had an affair with Carly only to be used by her and then snapped because Carly led him to believe at first that he was the father of her unborn child.
I WAS PRESENT WHEN A DR CAME INTO THE WAITING ROOM AND HAD TO TELL THE PARENTS OF A 16 YR OLD YOUNG MAN WHO WAS RIDING A MOTORCYCLE WITHOUT A HELMET AND THEY WERE ASKED ABOUT ORGAN DONONATION AND THE GUTTERAL SCREAMS FROM THE PARENTS WERE SOUNDS OF A HORROR SHOW. IT PIERCED EVERYONE IN THAT ROOM. SO VERY TRAGIC. 😢
Tony is hurting, knowing that BJ is gone, but she can help Maxie, by giving her, her heart, BJ is a match, not likely that they will find another match in time to save Maxie, Bobbie knows it's true, doesn't want to lose her
God this is heartbreaking. It really is sad how carly ran all over tony. Newer fans were rooting carly & jason including myself bc I was not watching then but I go back to this & my heart breaks for tony & can see how he snapped when he learned carly lied for months that he would have a second chance. Claire labine was a genius. Amazing that tony was able to see that time was running out for maxie & made the brave decision not to wait for a miracle that wasnt coming ( as a parent I'd keep my kid on the ventilator bc I'd be in such denial I would not be able to let go. I'd just want that childs warm body laying there looking peacefully asleep & never face the truth ) I would never blame tony for being in denial but he is a brain surgeon & knows his child Is not there anymore just her body.
I could understand that. If I were a parent, I'm sure I would do the same thing.. would want my child to be on a ventilator in some hopes he/she would come around, too. I think most parents would want that. The timing of the accident with Maxie is terrible. If they'd only waited even a week, it might be enough time for Bobbie to be able to cope with the idea of letting BJ go to give BJ's heart to Maxie. Yes, Tony had much courage here to face the truth and do what he had to do so BJ's heart would go to Maxie. But I resent the writer for setting up this scenario and I still hate Guza for letting Carly ruin Tony in the way she did, making her think her baby was his for months, especially as she knew she had lost his child.
This transplants/l is so much better than t6he one where Jake dies and Joss gets his liver. Mostly because it's bother brothers have a sick child and one cousin could help the other. by giving life to his niece. then too the relationship between the Jones brothers made their relationship even more special.+ the fan base is far more invested in these characters than they were in the dynamic between Liz, Lucky, and Carly.---Even though Carly and Lucky were cousins, Jake wasn't his son, he was Jason's and Carly didn't go to Lucky or Liz, she went to Jason to get him to get a liver. Lucky was raising Jake as his son so by right she should have gone to Luz and Lucky. Then too when Tania died---Frisco & Felicia took care of BJ as a baby, so the family dynamic was different too. Also when Jake dies, it bring Robin and Patrick back together and thart was thw main purpose of that s/l---whose the one tied to both transplant s/ls (Robin)
Overall, I think they did a good job of showing the conflict Frisco felt between his pull to do good (and, being good at doing it) and his love for Felicia and, later, Maxie. They were so young when they fell in love and he didn't yet know where his path would lead - I think the writers did honor the couple though by never having them cheat on one another when they were a couple or fall out of love with each other (until new writers cooked up all that crazy for Felicia). For a soap, that was impressive and a testament to the actors portraying F&F - Such a bittersweet love story that wouldn't have worked without their crazy chemistry. If it had been possible to recast Frisco (which would have been absurd), then they could have had him coming home periodically but there was no way to recast JW so they were bound by this way of telling their story
I don't know. Even so, I do wish Frisco could have grown up enough to realize it would be good for him to stay home and help Felicia raise his two children. It would have been the responsible thing to do. He could even have helped Tony, his brother in the next saga in his life, which would have been how Carly pretty much ruined him with her lies about her baby being his.
Had to watch these scenes again after yesterday. They still bring me to tears. RIP Jackie Zeman.
LOOK AT HOW FAR HER CHARACTER HAS BECOME FROM WHERE SHE STARTED.
All these years later and this still makes me bawl my eyes out
I was always amazed at the strength Tony had in these scenes how he was able to push down his pain and agony and look at the bigger picture, not many people could do that and couldn't blame them
I think he was numb/in shock
WHEN HE FIRST LOOKED AT HER INJURIES, I COULD ALMOST TASTE THE BILE HE WAS HAVING AT THAT MOMENT. INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE
I remember this storyline. This was GH at it's best. Also Monica's Cancer storyline was excellent.
and stone's AIDS storyline!!! They were also emotional and amazingly done!!
Can only imagine how much Tony would’ve been gutted knowing that his daughter had massive head injury, would not recover.. To take that moment and allow them to give BJ’s heart to Maxi... the storyline always makes me cry
^ maxie not maxi .
AT TIMES, TONY LOOKED LIKE HE WAS ABOUT TO BE SICK TO HIS STOMACH. SO PAINFUL, YET SO MUCH LOVE IN THIS DECISION 💔
How did Brad Maule not get an Emmy?
I say this all the time but the academy is just jealous
Look at this. Tells me am getting old. Used to rush off the bus to see this. Am 42 now. And i was about 6 when this happens. Still i dont know if i would have the strength Tony had to do this.
IT WAS AMAZING THAT TONY COULD SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE IN HIS TIME OF AGONY AND PAIN
Tony just gave. Hes was robbed of his emmy.
i agree. he truly was
The acting with BJ's and Maxie's storylines is amazing! I cried buckets as a kid and now as an adult. I can't even imagine going through either if I were a parent. 😢
Such beautiful acting with j and k....so many emotions
No one came and asked Tony. He just gave.
“I’m a mother!” Always makes me sad
i remember this so vividly
TO BE AN INCREDIBLE DR AND TO NOT BE ABLE TO SAVE YOUR OWN CHILD. HE MUST BE RAGING ON THE INSIDE
This has to be hands down the best story line everr besides Monica's breast Cancer story.
I hate what the writers did to Bobbie and Tony. When they should have been comforting each other, but because of a stupid affair that shouldn't have happened! Way to go, GH!!
I did too. General Hospital tends to destroy their main families a lot...
Agreed, cheryl. THe timing was pretty terrible, there.

I feel the exact same way
THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HELP EACH OTHER GET THRU THIS
Best storyline ever. I love GH. Till the late 90’s

Tony always a good man always

the brain had stopped working completly already before the arrival at the hospital
Same here...I know what the writers eventually did with Tony (even though I didn't see it) and I have a very hard time reconciling that with this man.
THAT IS THE HARDEST THING TO DO . I HAVE SEEN IT FIRST HAND. SO SAD
So sad I crying so hard after this they should lit frisco and Felicia stay together

What year was this? I must have been about 8 or 9 bcuz this was my first memory of gh.
Why cant the current writers just watch old gh and realize how much theyve let the show fall?

Courtney M 100% agree!! Perfectly said.
