Excellent post, Dave. Really informative as always. There are a few resources around, mainly written explanations with static pictures, but they can be difficult to follow. There really is no substitute for a detailed demonstration by an expert. Thanks, and keep up the amazing work!

This channel is so informative and it pretty much leaves no stone unturned thanks to the passion and effort of dave and camera lady ! It also shows just how much hard work goes on behind the scenes so when all the public has to do is walk in and it's all there I think we're getting more for our money than we probably realise. Looking forward to the next post ! P.s I keep forgetting to mention but the welfare you provide your animals is second to none and there are a lot of irresponsible people posting videos that could learn a lot from you . Keep the Knowledge coming !

There is a young TH-camr who is mostly into Tarantulas. After watching you work for some time, I can barely tolerate watching him, and he used to be my favorite. But now all I can concentrate on are the things he does that you’ve warned against- especially wet substrate. He never mentions the humidity that each T needs based on their home environment. The abdomens on his Ts are HUGE! Coming from this novice, they look grossly over fed. He had a T die recently and to me, her abdomen looked as if it had burst! Forgive me if I was out of line, but I’ve recommended he take a wander to your channel for habitat ideas when he would ask his audience a question that I was sure you could answer. I do hope he reaches out to you, or at least watches you. He had an entire sac of nymphs die out, a few at a time. The way he houses them makes me cringe. I don’t know his name, it isn’t listed and he doesn’t mention it. The only hint I can give you about who to watch for comments from, is that he has two channels that are one after the other alphabetically. I wish I could do something to encourage him to learn more from actual established T hobbyists.

I want to thank you, I used to be massively afraid of spiders. But because of you, I'm almost comfortable around them, no longer kill any, just re-home them outside. The happy chuckles of your camera woman showed me they aren't scary, just misunderstood, she was obviously not afraid. So, thank you for making my life so much better, you both are awesome!! 🕸🕷🕸🤗

I've got to say a big thank you for your channel Dave. Your constant mantra, "Be calm and love your spiders," helped me get over my fears of spiders. Just rehoused my C Versicolor and it ran down my arm. Two years ago I'd have thrown up and possibly passed out. Not now. After practicing calm and gentleness with my Ts I'm definitely growing as a keeper. Kudos!

New sub here…that was fascinating, Dave!! I always wondered, anatomy-wise, beyond abdomen shape or leg length, what distinguished females from males in their anatomy, and this was an incredible close-up of that!! Spiders have always scared the be-Jesus out of me, but I am really trying to learn more about them so they don’t seem so fearsome to me. You are a wonderful teacher. Much respect.

Finally someone, who was able to tell me how I sex my spiders, without leaving questions behind, great as always.
One question is there though, the fact that also the female parts of Tarantulas are different among the species, makes me wonder if the emboli and the spermithicae work like lock and key, one more security step to prevent different species from pairing maybe?
