Wasn't expecting the mid to high 80 score on this from you guys. I personally wanted a little more outta it. Would take my favorite year's standard 10 over it. Appreciate the review as always! Cheers boys :)
Great review...If there is a channel i was interested way more than any other to hear about new Springbanks, it's yours ! Now this one will be hard to get here too & I'm not going to chase it at retail price (anyway it is declared sold out everywhere I looked for it), and even the 12 yo Cask Strength, I'm not able to catch it now on time, so I rather on what I have already & enjoy the regular 10 yo that I'm happy to have in 4 different expressions at 46 % abv (hence my relatively recent video about 4 x 10 yo at 46 % + the old 100 Proof). Curious though about the Palo Cortado, which can be an exceptional added value sometimes imho...I skipped the new Glenmorangie one for now (reviews aren't all great) & looking forward also for the best proposal, regarding a decent age statement + more depth & charm because of this finish...So far the only whisky I've tried complying to that is one I alas couldn't buy but still have a sample of it to review,, the Deanston 1997 OB of a few years ago...Slainte !
I snagged a bottle of this when I saw it at my local spirit shop of choice. $600 at auction? Really? Nuts! I'm glad you found it to be good. I personally like a sherried Springbank, so I'm looking forward to cracking it open. But I'll tell you, I found this video to be particularly timely because what I'm looking forward to even more than opening the bottle is discussing the series with the friendly fine folks at Springbank when I spend four days in Campbeltown next week.
Nice to see a bottle that has been opened and is being drunk. I am currently on a regular Springbank 10yo. The PX definitely seems to be a curiosity - particularly at the cask strength abv.
@@maltreviews indeed. even before demand went crazy for Springbank, I found that I was happiest with the 10 (sorry not quite true, when the 12yo cask strength used to be available I liked that - I even remember pondering which batch to buy when so many were listed as available!)
Very nice review guys 👍 This is one of the whiskies that probably I will never get since it is very rare to find and for sure I am not willing to pay the price that goes at secondary market! The colour looks that they might forgot to empty the cask before adding the whisky 😂 Cheers 🥃
You are probably right thats why some serious whisky tasters/experts gave this one SB 4/10. Its still just an experiment even for Springbank but all they are bottling is sold out even they sell tea in a bottle with SB label. Is this hype ever get finished? 😁🥂🙋🏻♂️
Solid review guys. Did you find this in SoCal? Cause i haven't seen it up here in NoCal yet. I have seen the 11yr LB @ $175 but passed on it cause I haven't seen any great reviews on it and I don't buy to flip. I would pay $200 for this bottle cause it sounds exactly like what I dig! It sucks these are all 700ml now including the new Hazelburns. At least Kilkerran are still 750ml, Cheers!
Honestly these are almost impossible to find for $200, especially now. The store owners prob only got a bottle or two and sold it already. No need to stress about it honestly as its not one of those must owns in my opinion. Cheers!
Yup, very fun and enjoyable whisky, especially if you like dark and kinda funky sherry. Doesn't scream Springbank but I still get a touch of the distillery character. Cheers!
@@maltreviews the regular is decent but it took about 3 or 4 pours out of it and the bottle to sit for over a month to really get decent. At first I was kind of like meh until it opened up. the sherried one is good right out of the gate. I bougt a bunch of the sherried ones at Remedy for $55 and a couple of the regular at the same price. Can't argue the price for Springbank-ish stuff
Welcome back! It sounds like you guys liked the LB oloroso a little better than this one? It's going to be an epic tasting if you get one of each these sherry releases. The PX casks were from Jose Y Miguel Martin per the distillery. Cheers guys!
Five sherry casks, they'll have less bourbon wood cask influence, more time in sherry as they go along. All released at 55% - this PX has only a little SB character left - the Palo Cortado is superb - great balance. Amontillado next, followed by Fino then finally Manzanilla.......
Nice review gents. This is a decent enough bottling but the PX finish is a bit overdone and rather dominates the distillery character, I think a 12 month PX secondary maturation would have been more than enough. Looking forward to the other releases in this series.
more interested in the Springbank 10 Palo Cortado coming this year. the PX is too saturated. The new L.E. Glenmo- Palo Cortado finally just dropped today and K&L has it for $90. i have heard from Europe that it's very good. i thought it would be here over 6 months ago.
Let them peeps spend crazy money on 10-12 y scotch : for the same, one can get a bottle of 25-30y (even 40-50y) Armagnac or Rum, aged twice-as-fast in the tropics ... nice review.
I likened this to the long gone Bunnahabhain 14PX that went viral a few years ago. Actually a smidge too sweet for me. Preferred the Longrow Tawny Port that was released at the same time. That Longrow is just stellar and much more multi dimensional than this 10PX.
Return of the Mac. Glad to see you back and hope you guys had a nice break.
Awesome review. Love to see bottles like this get opened for those of us who never even see them. Good to see y’all back again.
Thank you!
Miss you guys so much it’s been to long❤
I wasn't big on this - glad to you see both back together and can't wait for more epic drams.
Ya a lot of people were not so your alone. Cheers!

I hear ya but thought it was a fun whisky. But agree that its over priced and not as good as the better 10s. Cheers brother!

That sounds amazing! Enjoy
You´re alive!
Yes, sorry for the long delays
Looks like we agree boys. Gave this one 89. Really enjoyed it. Cheers gents.
Amazing review. Thanks guys
I've seen a couple reviews of this bottle and you guys seem to like it better overall. That's the beauty of scotch. Great review.
Yes we def did not think this was a bad whisky. Thanks bud
I'd bite your hand off for the regular Springbank 10. Haven't seen that at the LCBO in a handful of years.
lol

Cant go wrong with the classic 10!

@@maltreviews ur saying this years Local barley 11 is not as good as last years 10?
You will be very lucky if you can found a bottle below $400 now in SoCal.

Exactly! Cheers!
Remedy has Campbeltown Loch back in stock now for $55 but not sure if it's the sherried version or not. Can't argue with the price
The recent sherry version is actually really good. Thats a crazy good price

I was lucky enough to obtain one of these from a friend at retail. I got strawberry jam right away on first pour.
