I let it pass the first time it was here, but after watching your review I couldn’t resist when it showed up again - K&L just got this one in a moment ago and I pulled the trigger - thanks for your review!
Here in Scotland these 10-12yo winter/summer batch bottlings at 46% go for £100 or a bit higher at retail (£150 the 15yo), and all by ballot or after queueing for many hours at the store. Then some stores add a big markup. Very high price but the juice and the distillery ethos definitely justify it!
Nice review guys 👍 I LOVE Daftmill! I think the quality of the spirit is at the top. Unfortunately it is expensive and difficult to find. I think this is the problem that we get with so small distillery such as Daftmill.
Sounds delicious. I'm seeing these go on auction for more than what I want to pay. I don't like to overpay for anything, especially whisky. Hopefully I'll get one someday. Great review.
Hi guys, guess what, I had my first try of DAFTMILL yesterday in a French show, alas not on sale but as a collector's pour....it was the 2008 Summer Batch release bottled in 2019 (from 5 casks, and Bourbon only), 46 %. I was immediately blown away by the distillate quality as you said, and by the finished product too (& I have to say that it did kill the 2 following whiskies after it, mind you, a Yamazaki 18 & a Springbank 17 Madeira !), with stunning citrus fruit notes, almost sherbety, bit waxy, with also loads of the best vanilla ever, some honey, and different other notes both reminders of old Bladnoch + old St Magdalene, with a touch of Clynelish or slightly peated 18 yo ish Broras indeed, loooove it ! So now i'm curious to try others & hopefully to buy me one, but it's not easy...I was offered a sample of the 2006 SC bottled at 56 % abv (WB133439) but it's still unopened...I did enjoy rewatching your video even better...Cheers !
By the way, i had to make a financial decision between this one and the Tamdhu 18 - i know totally different but it was budgetary. I have the Tamdhu 15 and a cask strength Tamdhu and no Daftmill - so I chose the Daftmill. You scored this 87 and the Tamdhu 18 88. I have lots of other 18 yo Sherry aged whiskies - hoping i made the right choice!
Perfect tasting note descriptions for Daftmill! I agree that it’s really just too expensive at $250 in U.S. but worth every penny for the three bottlings I’ve managed to find so far.
absolutely want all daftmill bottles, but yeah they're not cheap. I'm still buying tho, sampling the winter 2007 got me to grab this one. I'm on the journey with these guys. Cheers!

The intensity of the malt is very impressive. A true flavor bomb even at 46%.

Some reviewers like this release, some don't. I don't think I'll ever get to try another so I pulled the trigger because KL only has a few left.

Excellent review gentlemen! A fascinating whisky that you describe deliciously well. Thanks 🙏 ciao 👋 S.

Got mine at k & l. Reminds me of juicy fruit.
Enjoyed the review.
We need every new scotch distillery to mimic Daftmill
Not related to this video, but do you guys have a recomemdation for a whisky shop out your way?
