That's amazing. I wonder if he's calm because he's used to human contact, or if he can sense good vibes from these people. They're being submissive yet so is he.
That's what's stumping me! They're being very calm and collective but so is he, he sat down in a pretty vulnerable state and for this big guy being surrounded as well. I assume he's just had good human contact and see's males of his own species as his biggest concern.
@@zachary8249 I kind of assume it's best to stay confident as much as possible when it comes to wild animals. Standing your ground but bot looking directly into their eyes, and especially not staring. I think all animals can sense fear.
i would guess he's a rather intelligent gorilla. probably seen humans before, probably mimics them a bit. when they all sat down it's all kinda like respect in gorilla language so he shows it back by sitting calmly as well. sees the humans as non competitive animals like themselves. almost like a human finding squirrels or raccoons or something
They're our closest relatives. Gorillas are also not as violent as they're sometimes talked about, they simply don't attack you unless you're threatening them and everything's all well. The same can't be said for chimpanzees though.
Mountain gorillas are usually very peaceful animal to begin with. As long as you don't threaten them by attacking or making eye contacts, you're most likely gonna be fine encountering wild gorillas. However, it might be a different story for chimps...You better pray lol

Wow yes there is an innocence and weight off his shoulder compared to the almost stone like males in the zoo.
I don’t necessarily think that’s true. I’ve seen mostly Low land gorillas in the zoo. The Mountain Gorillas are rare to see in a Zoo, although some Zoos have Mountain Gorillas…they’re mostly the Lowland gorillas we see at the Zoo. It’s that some Zoos have better, more natural enclosures than others. I do agree, it’s much better to see them in their natural habitat but the Zoos I’ve been to take good care of their gorillas. I view them from the big window and the gorillas look very clean, with shiny coats and good weight. They also appear very relaxed and at ease. I suppose some Zoos could do better. I checked out some white Tigers they had there and they were napping right along the edge of their man-made pond because it was very hot out. This particular Zoo I visit provides very well for the animals.

could literally watch them for hours. their likeness to us is amazing, yet they seem to be missing everything bad. They're not aggressive if they don't need to be, and they communicate very clearly using body language, and eye contact.
Gorilla's thought: "Well, since this is the only bathroom in the area, I'll just use it."
The way you can sometimes catch the guttural sound of their breathing is simply amazing; to me it's an indication of their immense size and raw power that can be called upon at a moment's notice. Plus he can strike a pose like no other!
My dream is that so many people all over the world can experience the magic of sitting, watching and listening to those magnificent animals for many years to come. Thanks for visiting you really contributed on the conservation of these mountain gorillas and you can definetly recommend it to friends

The blessing of having a gorilla come up to you and let you take photos while it's peacefully eating......what a treasure. I envy you soooo much! I'd give anything for an encounter like that!

Gorillas are actually very gentle peaceful creatures and when with a guide as a group, dont mind you watching them as long as you respect them. I have heared that even silverback males are very gentle and peaceful and as long as you keep submissive and dont stare or touch, he is very peaceful and gentle.
This Gorilla obviously likes people, hence why he came and sat down among the group. I am going to look through the comments, and I am willing to bet that there will be at least a couple people who make negative remarks, instead of just enjoying the fact that humans and Gorilla made a rare chill session.
