    I just purchased an hx stomp from Sweetwater after having watched a bunch of your videos. I’m really excited to start playing with it.

    Is it the best modelller out there? No. Is it super easy to dial a great sound with no editor in about 2 minutes? Absolutely is

    Stop spying on me Cordy. I just picked one up this week- largely based on your demos - mainly for time based FX in the loop of Fillmore 25 but also for peace of mind if something breaks on a gig and I have to go direct. I was shopping for a super-delay and based on the strength of your demos I realized the Stomp could get me within a couple % of an Empress, Timeline, Timefactor or Nemesis with the added benefit of everything else HX does, plus having a backup at gigs, all for like $200 more than a delay pedal. Seems like solid math for me.

    Thx for this video. I know there are a lot of videos on HX Stomp and manual, but this one is very well structured and informative. Exactly what I was looking for. I sold my Kemper Stage, I mean the thing sound amazing I had no complains there, but it's just huge and heavy, as funny as it sounds that's why I decided to sell my Kemp, I will miss it, but I also can't wait for my HX Stomp. I just love that it's so small and there is everything that I need.

    Absolutely amazing tutorial! 👍 The HX Stomp is an extremely powerful Modeler, so a video walk-through its many features is a must. I've had an HX Stomp for over 1.5 years. My advice is listen to John, and pay special attention to the "order" that he does things. It is very well thought out, and will help any User get the best results with the least amount of effort.
    I made the mistake of starting off using "HX Edit" to dial in Presets. Follow John's advice to use the Unit itself, as that turns out to feel more "natural/organic," and easier, similar to using an Effects Pedal, though much more powerful and customizable. And one other thing, the Cab Block is very powerful in affecting the overall tone of Presets. Pay special attention to which Mic you choose, and the High and Low Cut settings. These are my "go to" settings when I need to make "big" changes to the overall tone.

    What are you running your stomp through? I’m having trouble with volume - even with the volume at max and the monitors all the way up it’s not very loud - I see your master volume here isn’t even halfway up. I have the output set to line, so that’s not the issue. Are you running into an interface?

    All these videos are missing key piece of information, how do you actually create an empty preset. Do you create an empty/new preset somehow or do you delete/clear and existing preset and use that as the base for building a new preset?

  • @jaltsch1

    Thanks for this, so helpful! Curious, when going into your interface why bother with the stomp rather than just using hx native? Wouldn’t that be easier and more flexible in that you can continue to tweak tones once recorded?

    • @Quimmoo
      @Quimmoo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends on a workflow. I love to record effects baked into the audio, so I don't have an option to tweak anything later. It makes me think more about what I'm doing and makes me more intentional with my decisions. And when my parts are recorded it saves me from overthinking and endless micro tweaking. I'm trying "less is more" approach to mixing, while trying to understand my gear better.

      After further study I have learned you CANNOT copy a snapshot to another Preset. You can export and import presets to other presets....the end.

    What are people running their HX Stomp into? I’ve already got a 50w Katana (which only has power amp in unlike the 100w version) but thinking of using my Mackie CR3 monitors instead and then through a 4x12 cab for band practice. Would that work?

    • @neekomax75
      @neekomax75 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would need a power amp of some sort in order to run the HX Stomp with a 4x12 cab. For example, if you have a head laying around that has an effects loop, go straight into the return of the amp's loop and that can power the cab.

    Just got my hx stomp xl and 1st time dipping my toes into modeling stuff. I have SO many questions. 😂 I normally play through a 50W EVH w/ 4x12. I’m impressed with hx so far! I plug it into my amp head and cabinet with 4 wire method. Could anyone tell me if this is correct? And also should I be bypassing cabs since I’m playing through the 4 x 12? You’re talking to someone who knows nothing about this stuff😂 Been trying to find a video that goes into detail about everything. Any help would be appreciated. 👌🏼

      Make sure your return block is also stereo and make sure your cable works. The effects loop is definitely capable of stereo, I run my H9 in my loop.

    Is the start not something like: you need some monitors, headphones work well too, alternativy a clean power amp connected to a speaker cab etc. ... Not having one: before I invest it would be good to know what kit you need... Fiddling with the unit itself is okay. Whats the signal chain etc. Atm I have valve amps... Okay you need a cable, some speakers if its an amp head...
    How are you listening to what you play. Sounds like pretty banal question I know...

    • @PondoSinatra680
      @PondoSinatra680 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use it like you would a guitar pedal.

    • @robertritchie2860
      @robertritchie2860 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One of the reasons to use the HX Stomp is to be able to play at lower volumes? You get access to all of the wonderful modelling, which is superbly demonstrated here. I dont want it in front of an amp... I have good amps and pedals already, which arguably sound better. My wet-dry rig is a pain to start-up and for 15 mins playing time is over the top. A flexible plug and play alternative would be welcome. So i guess you need a smallish clean power amp and some speakers to take advantage of the cab simulations etc. Playing through headphones is a pain.
      A power amp with monitors would allow for in theory great tones at lower volumes... Thats the use case.
      Using it to record and for looping etc. are given knowns.
