    This is pretty funny. I just found your previous video about the Parrot and immediately ordered it. Then I saw this video and had to go back and cancel my order and order this model instead. Excellent review. No time wasted and you answered all the questions I had! Thank you!

    I really appreciate you mentioning actual focal lengths. I need to shoot a little wider and knowing that it handles your lens at 18mm is incredibly helpful! I just clicked on your link and purchased! Thank you!

    I had been using the Padcaster Parrot for over a year, and just last week received the Desview T2 that I bought from Amazon. I can def confirm that everything you said in your video is accurate. For myself, the primary reason is that I want a larger screen so I can use a larger device such as a small tablet. The Parrot due to its small size meant I had to go out to buy a small phone with a small screen so it would fit within the small borders of the Parrot teleprompter. That made things a bit hard to read with my camera at 4 feet distance away, in addition to having to zoom out the lens to avoid seeing the borders of the prompter. But the Desview T2 is at least 2 times larger in screen size, so that means I can either use my normal phone which is the large Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ or use my Samsung 8" tablet. The 8 inch screen size tablet fits the Desview T2 perfectly and I can now see and read much larger scrolling text, so for that reason alone I'm blown away and am satisfied. The Desview T2 teleprompter app is crude and rudimentary, so I prefer to use the Parrot teleprompter app instead. For now, I'm also using the Parrot remote control (despite its clicky-ness) along with the Parrot teleprompter app when using the Desview T2 teleprompter, so it's nice to mix and match different pieces to suit my preference. The Desview T2 is definitely worth the $119 price tag! Especially compared to the $150 price tag that I paid for the Parrot a couple years ago. I almost got the $200 Glide Gear TMP-100 teleprompter but in the end, I decided I did not want to bother with the cloth design of covering the lens from glare, that was a turn-off for me. By the way, some other reviewers on TH-cam are saying the Desview T2 is cutting down the light exposure by roughly 2/3rd of a stop plus the Desview T2 makes the image slightly warmer. That may or may not be accurate as I haven't used it enough to say for sure, but I thought that was an interesting observation from other reviews. Overall I like the Desview T2, it's super easy to use and works just like the Parrot with the various step-up lens rings. I wish this was available a couple years ago when I was looking for a teleprompter. Lastly, have you tried using the "PromptSmart Pro" teleprompter app, it's the one that is voice activated? I tried that for a few hours, but the app kept freezing on me and would not work properly. I finally had to switch back to my manual Parrot remote control to finish my video cuz the PromptSmart Pro voice activation prompter app was so unreliable.

      Great comment! Yeah I mix and match as well. I really enjoy the simplicity of the Parrot app and Parrot remote, but I still use the Desview teleprompter due to the fact that it allows me to have a much wider shot.

    • @caseyonlocation8257

      @@TechAuditTV Yeah for sure! I'm deep into camera gear with various interchangeable lenses for my assorted Canon cameras, so I def know what you mean by not being to go wide with the Parrot. But that was less of a concern for me since I was able to improvise. But being able to use a much larger screen on the Desview makes a huge improvement for me as you know. Dang, I can even take off my reading glasses and read the text from the Desview from 4 feet away! Can't do that with the Parrot! So now I have a choice of either wearing my reading glasses to look smart, or remove my reading glasses so I don't have to be so finicky with my softbox LED light placement to avoid glare, haha!

      I just posted my latest TH-cam video on how I setup my place for a home studio for filming TH-cam videos. 3:05 What app is this? I have the Desview app and it doesn't look like that at all, it doesn't even have an option for a sight line. If what I am using is a newer version of the app then they changed it for the worse.

      They must have updated it! It was the Desview app. Another app to try is the Parrot Teleprompter app. That's what I use with my Desview teleprompter.

On the amazon page it says *"Support wide angle lens: Support shooting with wide angle not less than 35mm".* You said you shot with 18mm, but the specs tell min 35mm. What is your thought? If I use the Imaging Edge as a field monitor with my a6400 I lose the face detection. Why is it that when I then turn the app off, the camera doesn't turn face detection back on?
    Is there any way of framing my shot with another monitor (teleprompter blocks the flip up screen) and then get the face detection back on without having to go to the camera and fiddle with the menus?
    Many thanks.

    Quick question!! What about the script? Does the T2 app easily allow you to copy- paste large texts from word documents. I've heard the main problem with the T2 is that you have to type in the whole script into the app. So you then end up having to purchase another app such as the promptsmart pro to copy-paste text from documents? Is this true? Would appreciate the clarification! Thank you!!

      Why not just use your existing Powerpoint slides as your teleprompter software using PPT Mirror tool?, it's even better and easy, because the tool does not force you to read word for word and it works on any device in every browser.

    • @americandean8083
      @americandean8083 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patrick Berglund, same situation here, so I ended up using PPT Mirror software method to convert and mirror-flip my existing PPT slides for my iPad and display them in TTL (through the lens) in the teleprompter (advancing the slides with remote), as I aways have my whole concept in front of camera,I don't have to read word-for-word, I only use bullet points structure to avoid over-scripting myself out completely, therefore my conversation remain on target. which leads my videos to be more natural and conversational. I experienced that it is a good option that assisst's in delivering professional narration than word-for-word scripts. best wishes.

    Brandon, I just watched your video on the Desview teleprompter. It looks like the perfect one for me, but I have a Sony ZV-1 camera, it doesn't have a screw-on ring at the end of the lens and so I wonder if the Desview has an adapter for what's essentially a point-and-shoot camera. Great advice thank you very VERY much....I watched both of your videos on the Parrot 2 and T2 and the T2 is the one I am looking at..... I have made only ONE film and this would be a massive time saver..... I did not realise how easy it is to mess up your lines speaking from a written script!! .... I have several questions.... I am using currently a simple JVC Everio camcorder o record my clips, I assume that the T2 will fit it as it has thread patterns in the inside of the lenses bit.... Not sure of the size but that does not matter, do you know it will fit?....Second if I got a upgrade video recorder where it has a sound boom for outside work what would you advise??? (I might have opened a can of worms here) And my last question is I have a Nokia 3.2 "smartphone" (although its probably not that smart!!) will the prompt thing work on that or is there something else I should consider?? My 1st film was a hour long (MUCH TOO LONG BUT THAT WAS NOT MY CHOICE!!) and I probably spent 150 hours doing it with writing and all and, filming and I can see that one of these WILL help.... ..... Thanks in anticipation....Good job....

      The teleprompter comes with a range of adapter sizes for different lense sizes. You should be able to check the Amazon link description and reviews to see if your lense fits. I would definitely advise on an external mic with a boom arm as that is what I do as well. As for the app, just open the app store right now and search for the app to see if you can download it.

      @americandean8083 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shaun
      why not just use powerpoint in a teleprompter using your Nokia 3.2 ? but you would have to have to mirror-flip the slides using ppt-mirror.com tool ( Free Version Available to test if the tool meets your demands)..the advantage of using the tool is you don't memorize your script because you use your existing slides, and your speech remains natural because the tool does not force you to read word for word.... its worthy to give a try especialy with the situation you're trying to escape.

    On Amazon it said that you can't copy and paste text into the app, and that you can only type in the app itself. According to that review, you can't import a document like a google doc or word document. Is this true? I can't believe that's true. The reviews were really weird on Amazon.
    Thanks!

    • @TechAuditTV
      @TechAuditTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can. I write my script on my PC in Google Docs, then I open that doc on my phone, copy it, and then paste it into the teleprompter app.

      @@RhymeMastaMasse did you finally buy it and how has it been?

    • @RhymeMastaMasse
      @RhymeMastaMasse 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@durosoto Yes I did. It's honestly pretty clunky and mine might be somewhat defective. It is extremely hard to get the cover off of the housing that sits on your camera and even though they provide you with lik e8 different sizes to put on your lens as an adaptor, they didn't have one that fit my 15-45mm Canon EOS M50 kit lens and i had to shove the piece of foam that the cover sits in into a larger one and force it onto my camera, and putting the housing on the lens is scary because you have to use A LOT of force to put it on and my lens actually feels like it's going to snap whenever I put it on or take it off.
      Once it's on, it's not bad to use, even though the start/stop button is incredibly clicky and you can hear it in the footage.
      You can't import files but you can copy and paste them, so it's fine I guess...
      I would've rather spent an extra $60 on a better made product. Now I never want to use it because it's such a pain to put on/take off. Also doesn't fit on my tripod correctly.
      I will say, once it's on it's not bad as an actual teleprompter. I'd say it's a 5/10.

    NOT GOOD. I bought it last week. When I put my phone on it the camera lens can't move to autofocus itself and shuts down the camera, all because the lens has to hold all the teleprompter's and phone's weight. So better get something that has support for camera and teleprompter both and that doesn't affect the movement of the lens.
