    Been using this teleprompter for more than a year with no issues UNTIL they apparently updated the teleprompter app software and now I cannot get anything to work. The text skips big chunks of my text, it also hops to various areas. Why didn't they just leave well enough alone. Had to stop shopping a video because of the updated app.

    I purchased the Desview T3, but unfortunately, it hasn't worked out for me. The app is extremely frustrating-it constantly flips the screen upside down, and no matter what I do, the mirroring function simply doesn’t work. It's been a disappointing experience, and yes. I have tried everything to fix this issue. I may have no choice but to return it.

    Hey quick question....When I write my script I add all the necessary indentations Ill need, however when I copy paste into the app it blocks it all into one big chunk and I have to go back through it again and space things out. Kind of a time waster. Any way around this?

    It includes additional foam circles wich fill the space around common smartphone lenses if don't use a dslr for filming. The circles fit into the foam ring on the 49mm plate.

    Hey Scott, Im looking into buying this, but I absolutely love my Sigma 16mm on Sony crop sensor camera (that gives the "24mm look"). What is the widest lens you have tried? I know they "recommend" 35mm, but is the 24mm going to be too wide? Do I need to crop in awfully lot or just a bit? Thanks

    quick question for you. How do I stop the lens from picking up the words on the glass? I recorded my first video with the setup you described in the video and there is a white haze over my video and you can see the scan lines from the text. How do I eliminate that?
    I’m using the canon m50 with the sigma 1.4. Do I need to change the aperture or something? Video isn’t too bad but I definitely need to figure out how to remove that.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I've never tried it, but even this remote just connects to your phone as any typical bluetooth device and it's not app specific, so it might work with powerpoint too since flipping pages should be a simple command. Before, I had a small bluetooth keyboard that actually worked with another prompter app, and that was again totally non-brand specific. I can't be positive, but there's a good chance any type of bluetooth controller or keyboard etc could work.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't experienced that myself, luckily. Are you using the filter thread screws to hold the prompter on your lens? If there's light leak in the back it could cause some issues but even then I'm not sure if the ghosted words would be one of the problems. Have you tried adjusting the brightness of your phone/tablet? I wouldn't think it could cause significant issues, but it's possible the image is too powerful and leaking through or getting picked up by the camera.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure- different people/styles could use different apps including Powerpoint. Of course, it would depend how you write your scripts even in an app like the Bestview app... I often write a rough outline and use it as a guide to read along, adding a little natural flow to it as I'm reading through.

      Depends which 50mm lens you have, check the filter size which should be written on the lens barrel somewhere and that's the one you'll need. Most sizes of adapter should be included in the kit but if not, you can probably find a step up ring on Amazon or somewhere that will allow you to go from your lens filter size to the size that matches one of these adapter rings. We are mounting this promotor on the lens, then, going to put extra weight of phone device; and this whole assembly is without any support, so entire weight (380g promptor + 210g samsung phone as script screen) will be on camera body and lens connector. Will this cause any damage to the dslr camera lens connector or body? What you think? This is the only concern which has kept me away from buying it so far.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I 100% agree it's a little nervewracking... but from my experience it's not too much of an issue as long as you watch out for:
      -the longer the lens, the more flex that will put on the mount
      -cheaper lenses/cameras will have more of an issue, but most should be robust enough.
      -just be gentle when sliding the prompter ONTO the lens and also when clipping in your phone
      I used it for quite a long time with the Sony A7III and a 55mm lens, no problems I noticed whatsoever.

      @@ScottDumas "longer lens more flex" --> not necessarily. For example, a Canon 70-200 lens gets mounted directly to the tripod, and the camera body then hangs off the back of that lens. Therefore, the prompter would be hanging on the FRONT of the lens, which when mounted directly to the tripod, creates no additional load on the camera/lens mount.

    Thanks for this video it helped I just got the T2 yesterday. it took me some Tim etc put it together I am using an I phone for videos and a I pad mini for text. I am still having problems with putting text into my I pad. it will only let me see about 5 lines then the keyboard covers the text. I would like to wet the text on my Mac and import it into the App. I don't know how to do this . can you help? thx tasso

      What I've been doing is writing it on my mac and then air-drop it in the notes app or even just email it to myself, so I can copy and paste it into the Bestview app without having to type anything in the app itself. Hope that technique works out for you!

      Hi! That's honestly a good question haha, and I wasn't quite sure myself. I haven't used it at all but I think if you need it to go around a phone camera to seal it so no light gets in, that may be its main use. I've never used this with a phone so haven't tried. As long as you use it with a lens that fits the lens thread adapters, you shouldn't have to worry about it .

    Is it light enough to use with a gimbal, say a Ronin-M with a GH5 + 12-35 ?
    And can you use it outside without the reflections being vissible?

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've honestly never tried it with a gimbal or that particular setup so I'm not sure. I feel like it would get quite front heavy and awkward especially with the phone in there. Another thing to keep in mind though is that they recommend using over a 35mm (full frame eq) lens, or over 50mm with a tablet.

    Thanks for this review! Having seen several different reviews of the Desview prompter, I definitely say your review is the best! Thanks for all those extra details you showed, that was helpful too. I'm looking to upgrade my Padcaster Parrot Teleprompter V2 which I like, but it's a bit too small which also means a small phone screen is required. I believe the Desview prompter will meet my need for a larger screen, but not too large. That also means I can use hopefully use my larger phone which is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ phone, or maybe even a small tablet. The other teleprompter I had been considering is the Glide Gear, probably the TMP-500 model which includes rails for larger cameras. I need for the teleprompter to fit my Canon Vixia G60 camcorder, which has a very short built-in lens design. Do you have any experience with the Glide Gear teleprompter? The TMP-100 model seems to be popular among TH-camrs, but I believe the 100 model is made for DSLR type cameras, not for a camcorder. I was hoping the TMP-100 model would fit my Canon G60 camcorder but it appears it won't. My other concern is that the larger TMP-500 model has mixed and spotty reviews, with some Amazon reviews saying the rail system is poorly made, plus other assorted negative points. I also don't really like the "hood" design of the the Glide Gear system. Also, I was hoping to use the Glide Gear teleprompter with the PromptSmart Pro teleprompter app which is voice activated so no physical remote control is needed. I ended up downloading the 7 day trial for the PromptSmart Pro app and tried using it on a TH-cam video I was creating the other day. But after a couple hours, the PromptSmart app started acting erratic by not scrolling for a new sentence here and then, or not scrolling at a consistent speed. The app later totally stopped working despite a default reset. I was so disgusted that I was forced to go back to using my tried and true Padcaster Parrot teleprompter and the Parrot teleprompter app plus the included manual remote control. So the next question is if you tried using the voice activated PromptSmart Pro app which costs $19.99? At this point, I'm leaning heavily on getting the Desview teleprompter. Thanks again for your video, I liked and subscribed!
