    The problem with Samsung is that, their phones have become expensive for no reason. Im even looking for another brand that offers better options.

    • @TechDaily
      @TechDaily  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +294

      New Samsung phones are only full price for about a month or two. Then they’re discounted $50-$100, and by the 6-month mark, they’re $100+ off.
      By the 1 year mark, you can get them for like 25% off. They have an insane depreciation curve, so if you can wait, I think that’s the best move.
      But I do agree that upping the price on the S24 Ultra for example was a tough thing to justify

      @denzowarmbad5486 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +59

      @TechDaily well in South Africa, that's not the case, Samsung phones are too expensive. Even if you wait for a year, their discount is not much. But when comparing to other places, they are less.

    Still can't thank you enough for the A34 review you did last year. I am still happy with it, I don't use my phone much but for the price, it gets things done without lagging. If the A35 and A55 get 7 years of updates, well unfortunate for me, but I needed a phone when my Xiaomi decided to die (again).

      I also got my a54 last year because my previous phone the screen just cracked. I got the spider screen all over my phone so had to change it without being able to wait much time.
      And I’m also very happy with my pick I’m not a tech expert so I don’t need a flagship. When I got it. I was indecisive between the 34 or 54. went with 54 because of the camera design, I prefer the punch or whole for the camera than the water drop look. So that’s why I chose the A54.

    I have a Samsung A12 coming up to the end of a 3 year contract. Still working fine, just had a security update today. Only ever had a couple of minor hitches, Bluetooth can be a bit erratic and had to dig around for a solution to a USB charging/tethering setting which had a mind of its own. Only criticism I have of all current smartphones is that nobody makes a decent smaller screen mid price device, I have small hands and really don't enjoy messing with these 6.5 inch screens. I would love to see a 5.5 or even a 5.0 which isn't a cheapo Alcatel or similar.

    Personal testimony: I got the A54 5G around last November brand new. I like it. It works great. Does everything I want it to do. It plays all my games great, too, such as Call of Duty Mobile, Need For Speed, Black Desert Mobile, Minecraft, etc.
    I also like the premium look and feel of it, but I got a rubber casing that makes it look and feel even more premium to my hands.
    The only things that feel like a downgrade from my last phone, which was BLU F91 5G, is A54 doesn't have a depth sensing camera, and a slightly smaller display. Everything else is an upgrade.

I bought one for my wife last year and its better than my Nothing Phone 1 (2022). We've also had Realme phones in the past and have liked them. The Realme 6i (2020) and the GT Master Edition (2021). both are still working fine, we handed them down to family members. I read and watch reviews before buying. I make sure that the phone I'm getting works in my region (some phones are international phones and support many signal bands, others are regional and won't work everywhere). Good luck looking, there are soo many options nowadays.

      But most galaxy devices ive used did feel... meh. Even the s22 ones (exynos models) stuttered a bit sometimes, wich was really sad as they had such beautiful displays and all the nice things goodlock offers. The first one that really felt great was the s23u, my current device.
      Maybe i can test the a54 somewhere bc up to now, i didnt even consider it as the soc is technically underperforming compared to other, cheaper devices and is just marginally better compared to the a34, the better buy imo. But yeah, ive always had not sooo good experiences with the a series
      Also, the moto edge 30 feels amazing to use, is snappy and looks great - a bang for buck option imo

Low light camera is biggest upgrade, performance is slightly smoother too. Battery a bit better as well but it is heavier. You feel that extra 500mah in your pocket.

    I'm currently using an A71, which I decided to get in favor of the A51 at the time because of the Snapdragon chipset. I wish Samsung would release an A75 along with the A55. I'm not a fan of the Exynos chip. I'm actually quite appalled that Samsung gets away with selling the S24 and S24+ with an inferior chipset here in the EU, for the same price (or higher) than the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 S24 and S24+ in other areas. Benchmarking comparisons show outrageous differences.

    A54 is a good all rounder and a nice upgrade from A52s. Battery life is good. I paid 267 pounds from ebay seller which is a great deal. Thought id got used but found it was actually brand new. I first replaced A52s with pixel 7a but that phone is fab but buggy and stutters. The battery is also no better than a 2 year old A52s. So i got the A54 which on paper and in reviews loses badly on performance to the pixel but in reality is far smoother in most apps when scrolling. In games it'll cope just fine and be smooth if you lower the detail a bit or use samsungs game boost. The pixel has a better camera but its not night and day difference. Theres sometimes too much HDR in the pixel that makes samsung look nicer. Not better objectively but nicer. Pixel is almost pulling out more detail than you can actually see with naked eye. Camera is definitely a nice step up on A52s especially in low light.

They can regularly be had under 300$ for the ultra and around 200 for the fe and they are absolutely wonderful tlat these prices. Nobody with one of these has any real need to upgrade STILL. Along with the note 20 ultra, these phones have been absolutely stellar if you bought them at lunch to "future proof" as were pretty far into the future for a cell phone, and these phones are still absolutely top of the class in the budget and midrange

    replace the A54 with the S23 FE and I think its a fair list. S23 FE u can find used for around the same price, maybe 50-100 more depending on condition or locked status. U still dont have to worry about paying for the gimicks as well as u get faster charging, better chipset, wireless charging, better cameras. I think between wireless charging, wider compatability, specs that will hold up for longer in terms of performance and better screen, cameras, and charging; the S23 FE would be a much better option. As of this comment time of posting, A54's run about 150-250 on ebay for used and 200-300 refurb. S23 FE's are about 200-250 used and around 300-400 refurb but you can find the S23 FE for the same and sometimes cheaper if you choose a locked phone to ur carrier. Also, alot of carriers offer the S23 FE as the free device trade in when u trade in an A series phone or Older S series (at least in my area). So I wouldn't call these features Minor or forgettable features. Not to mention stronger materials and wider range of accesories

    Quick question! $563.41 for a Samsung s23fe or $640.13 for a Samsung s23?

      For that price difference, I would actually just get the regular flagship S23 for $640. The FE has a few too many compromises this year by comparison.

      If you don't mind the extra $80, the S23 will have a better battery life. Snapdragon 8 gen 1 in S23 FE is a beast, but it's power hog. The Snapdragon 8 gen 2 is a bit better while being much more power efficient.
      But I've been able to daily S23 FE just fine for my own use because honestly, nowadays, charging phone is not a big deal (you can charge while at work if necessary).

    I have an A14 and it SUCKS! The camera takes photos but the quality is way under subpar with distortion and color. You get stuck on screens after tapping on an app which means you need to tap the back button, wait for a few seconds and retry opening your app. The finger sensor works as well as wiping molasses like poop off your tuchas with a dry papertowel. The lag time is HORRIBLE! About 50% of the time the finger sensor does NOT work. If you are slow to navigate through your phone, this would be a good fit.
