I must admit that while this version didn't have the umpth and the soul that the original 1984 version had, I still like it anyway because the Pop generation had changed constantly.
And still today in year 2024, the poverty and hunger around the world is still a problem ether their in Africa, Asia, America or even Europe. Poverty and Hunger is still a problem that most government in rest of the world don't wanna fix
The original version is best, but every version is important and has its own style and character. I love it. All Versions. Most important is the message and the help started with all these artists and Bobs and Midges epic idea. We want a 2034 Version, 2044, 2054....
Even after 40 years, Africa still has the highest extreme poverty rates globally. This Christmas (2024), war between Ukraine and Russia will probably still be going on. There are still a lot more wars going on, that will probably go into Christmas time. It is still sad to see this going on during Christmas to this day. So, Let them know it's Christmas time!

i was around in the 1980's for We Are The World and Do They Know It's Christmas? here is a crazy thought. instead of redoing the song every 10 years, why not every generation in that group make a new song to add to the collection. giving seems to be harder every year as those in higher income brackets keep getting the raise while the people at the bottom keep getting told, there is nothing left for you, maybe next year. and then more people are added to the list needing the basic necessities of life. i want to thank the people in this world that still want to make a difference for others, that want to add a little light instead of take it away.
I think it's kinda cool that there is a new version with musicians of today, yeah the original was awesome and cannot be equalled but the message is good.
The 1984 version sends shivers down my spine. This one on the other hand...Where the 1984 version is like a mighty Douglas fir, this version is more akin to a plastic Christmas tree from Poundland.
I remember the 1984 version like it was only yesterday & 40 years later while there have been many different versions all have sincerely touched my heart. It’s the lyrics and the true meaning that resonates no matter what the year ! I hope this will be played for generations to come and I sincerely hope one day this world will be free of child poverty… Merry Christmas everyone ❤️
Yes, same here, I was a teenager 40 years ago and this song and Live Aid, bring back so many treasured memories. I loved it then and I still love it now!!

Sounds great, just need some help getting it on TV where more people see it and some older musicians in there. These are all youngsters that people may not know what band they play in. ❤
Geez, could there be more haters in the comments?? Seriously?? NOTHING will replace the original, either enjoy it or move on. It's that simple. NO need for the hate!!!

Talent-wise...this was such a huge step down from the original. Kudos to Bono for re-recording his same section. I had forgotten all about this 2004 version...simply did not stand the test of time.
God bless Bob Geldof. I know the woke people won't like this but who cares! This man and his fellow artists did a wonderful thing back in the day to bring awareness of starvation on the African continent. Maybe the words weren't right (according to the woke brigade) but they were right at the time. Maybe the woke brigade should take a look at the images we all saw back then. I don't think they could handle it, but Bob and his fellow artists surely did!! God bless them all for their contribution to this awful and CONTINUING famine in the continent of Africa. 🙏❤

That's true
The fact that there has to be multiple versions is a bigger issue than which one is the better ‘banger’
Maybe better by a few hundred miles away. Nice effort by the artists here, but the original 1984 version was phenomenal in every way
You completely missed the point of doing it again and again...........
