  • Loads of pedals, a top-flight switcher and seven MIDI pedals on one board?! You bet…
Life too short for long TH-cam videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below.
Welcome to the video, Dan here, hello!
We were lucky enough to meet and hang out with the awesomely talented and charismatic Paul Davids at Thomann Gear University in 2019. If you're not familiar with Paul's work, please a visit here and get learned! / @pauldavids
Anyhoo, back there in Germany we began a conversation that culminated in this monster of a pedalboard build. Regular viewers will know that working with artists' rigs and pedalboards is central to everything I do in my main job at TheGigRig, and this was an opportunity to put all that experience to work.
Paul will follow up with a video on his own channel in due course, walking you through some of the sounds and his experiences so far. Please watch that space for more.
    Meanwhile, enjoy this video!

Wow Dan, you've 100% pulled it off! I can not express how great it is to play with this board. The first time I turned it on I thought it wasn't working because it's so ridiculously clean sounding. It is so versatile that it's gonna take me some time to fully grasp all the possibilities I now have under my feet. G3 keeps on amazing me the more I dive in it, and it feels like my imagination is the limit - which is EXACTLY what I wanted. Thanks for the build Dan, there will be a video from my part as soon as I feel like I mastered the board. This isn't something I want to rush :)

I’ve built myself quite a few boards in my years and have a good knowledge of the subject. This is something unreal. Just doing everything through the G3 with the infinite amount of options, would stop me dead in my tracks. 7 midi pedals? And the G3? It’d probably take me at least a month to figure out the programming alone. And after watching Paul’s video of him using this board, I realized how insane the routing through the G3 actually is. Unreal board and in my top 3 boards I’ve ever heard. The sound that he gets is absolutely stunning. This is an expert X’s 20 build.

As someone whos been building, modding and of course using guitars, amps and guitar pedals for a long time ive got quite a few pedals that i want to FINALLY put on a couple boards. One board for the front of amp stuff and one for the Fx Loop stuff. I whole heartedly can appreciate the importance of planning these boards out. Ive gotten away with just bringing along a few pedals when i go jam outside my house but at home im constantly zip tying cables in order to keep my 15 or so "in the signal chain" pedals still (a horrible practice but im good at a few things which make poor cable management....er.... managable. Those things are soldering, finding faults and when those two skills fail, hiding new patch cable purchases from my girlfriend). But its time i grew up and did this thing the right way. Ive got the skills and the drive, im just waiting for *the time* and *the money* to catch up lol. But in all seriousness i just finished a Chasm Reverb build and im almost done with the enclosure so as soon as thats done the next project is the pedal boards. Great board and tips as always Dan!

This is a GREAT pedalboard, but definitely not an affordaboard! LOL

Nicely done! Maybe one day I'll try out a M1D1 board, it seems like the way to go!

More vids like this, please! Never saw one of those boards where the cover wasn't dented.

This great, but too short! I love a good one hour episode on the weekend.
