Just get an exercise beanie hat / cap. Way cheaper. $15 cad for a 2 pack so $7 a piece. Which is around 5 quid per piece. Just swap em when they get to soaked during longer sessions. They are thin so it doesn’t interfere with the headset. Tho color choice can affect whether the sensor detects your head or not. Doesn't like solid black so grey or another color should work. Another advantage is that it helps the headset grip your head so it won't move as much when the headset is not as tight.
The problem you mentioned with the headset cutting out has not affected me so far. I've used the headset without a facial interface since the Quest 3 came out, and now with the Quest open facial interface and never experienced a problem. That being said, I might add the bit of tape anyway as I don't like it switching off if I take the headset off for a quick break. Also, I don't think this interface is purely intended for cooling during high activity games. In mixed reality it is great having peripheral vision. I've spent many hours working in VR, and consume media daily in the headset while mucking about the house, cooking, washing dishes etc. It's one of my favourite upgrades for the Quest, next to an after market head strap.
I did mention the peripheral vision thing I think this interface is great for AR. I think it's biggest issue is letting too much light in degrades the image quality.
It's a no brainer than this should have come with the silicone interface. I have the Meta brand one and on top of it not absorbing sweat I also find it way more comfortable than the fabric one.
There's an issue with the latest update that's affecting the sensitivity of the proximity sensor causing the blackouts as though the headset is away from the face.
I would say, the "BEST" is to ditch the facial interface all together and use the boboVR's halo headstrap for it. stable and secure on the head, open air flow across your face, and it sits really darn close to the eye's and you never really notice you don't have an interface.
I actually mostly play like this and I have the AMVR interface as well. WIth the Bobo S3 Pro, I never have any issues with it cutting off randomly without the facial interface, and because I can get my eyes closer, the FOV is wider. Bonus is I can better see my drinks and not knock them over lol
BoboVR's S3 Pro strap is pretty damn good. I never thought I could use VR without the interface until I got one. Even with no interface the fan still keeps things cool. Quest 3 really does get hot as heck, even with the interface removed. I couldn't go back to a traditional strap now. Even if a S3 is expensive. Getting a much cheaper M3 strap would be just as good. Just getting all that weight off your face and having the thing balanced evenly on your head is a game changer.
It needs to block light from above, I'm sure my room light would cause reflections. Add on bits for the gaps, to block out light for VR, would help too. Hopefully a third party will make something better and cheaper. They got rid of the stupid proximity sensor in the Q3s, it causes lots of problems and kills many headsets, as that's what fries, when sweat gets in. Broke 2 headsets because of that.
@@VRCauldron :D Don't tell me... you are not eating carbs! :D :D :D No worries... just slipping an idea... each one should search with his own mind. You can do an experiment... one month VR aerobics etc with "regular" diet then no VR fitness or any "fitness exercise" besides some walking and usual chores and say... as natural as possible animal products only (you know... meat and eggs some cheese, butter - zero oils ) for a month.
I use Quest 2 just with holo strap without face paddings. I prefer comfort to immersion. Question not related to this but does anyone fill like having headset lenses little far away make image more natural just FOV gets to small? Like when i watch movies if screen is close i can not focus at image that well
@UKTunedIn is your eye balls get sweaty? It's so weird I can't figure out why I do not like when vr classes are close. I like it's immersion but harder to watch movies
@iraklimgeladze5223 lool no my eyeballs aren't sweaty 😆.. when the lenses are close to my eyes the lenses steam up.. is what I meant lol Maybe it's something to do with your focal point/distance.. like when you focus both eyes on one finger, moving it towards your nose... Until the point where you become cross eyed.. I think that's your called focal point🤷🏾♂️... Maybe your eyes are focusing on the surface of the lense itself rather than looking through them... Maybe it's just your reflex of something being so close to your eyeballs... Alot of "maybes" 😅
@UKTunedIn I think why do not like Watching movies in VR even it's immersion because image is to big like in Cinema and i miss half of movie because how big is and if i make small in vr image is very low resolution. It's my guess yet
Pretty sure you can disable that the quest turns off automatically, that way you wouldn’t need to stick a tape there
it also turns back on everytime you restart it
Just easier to keep the tape on and forget it I think.

Great review! (As always) very informative and useful. Loved the meta rant, please digress more! 😂
Haha thanks. I shall 😂

The heat from my eyes sometimes steam up the lenses 🔥👀... Other than that 😅👍🏾

that'll make the headset really wobbly tho and halo strap are already wobbly without that
@@ilikestuff8218 it doesn't though, I was concerned initially when I did it but no, if you secure it properly, it's stable and doesn't wabble

Yeah an above shade might help.
you cant turn it off unless you use somthing lke sidequest i disabled mine with it
also evertime you turn off your quest you must disable it again..
So yeah use the tape haha
Best augmented or not reality advice to get fit is STOP EATIN ANY CARBS!
Not good for you, everything in moderation works.
@@sharpvidtube Of course, depends on goals and assumptions though. Very different results life-long term.
Not eating carbs will not get you fit

Lol! What a piece of trash.
😂😂 I like it but it's waaaay too expensive.
