Would really like to see some company make a high end audio solution for VR headsets. Audio is neglected on most headsets. There's a "good enough to get by" mentality there. The Quest 3's audio is a perfect example of walking the line of acceptable audio quality for most people. But other than the Valve Index, no manufacturer seems to have tried to make an audio solution which aims at better than minimum. The market could really use a solution that provides actual premium audio quality and does not suck for usability. I mean, what really gets me about all these existing 3rd party solutions is that not only are they a mess to install and use, but their sound quality is trash just like the stock audio. On the Quest 2 I used the Logitech Chorus, but they cannot fit on the Quest 3. Thank you for testing this. I will get my VR Ears and try them on the Quest 3. I used them on my Quest 1.
You should probably just get a nice set of actual headphones to use with them. There seems to be plenty of room for even most over the ear headphones to be used, and if you get some higher quality ones that need an AMP you can route that to your waist or something for FAR better sound.
@@waylandergemmell9858 I almost always forget there is a fan on my headset, in the case of anything requiring you to want that on you'd probably be better off with some good IEMs anyhow and would avoid that.
I just use some over the ear Bose old QC-135 NC ear phones when I want extra thump. The cable de-taches from the headphones So I just leave it looped up inside the Elite strap. Also for casual play my Google Pixel Buds via BT is just fine for games like racing games, flight sims etc... but not for Beat Saber :)
I would love to see a video about routers and other options to use wireles vr with the quest 3. Because for me it was realy hard to find some usefull info about that
I found the best price/performance compromise was a used Wifi6 router with Tri-band. This allows a wifi band to be dedicated to the Quest and avoid interference. My setup is more indepth than that as I play in a completely different floor to my PC, I agree finding info on what works and doesn't was tricky and had trial and error
Wifi 6E if you want good VR, Wifi 6(non e) works but not the best for certain games, Wifi 7 mostly not supported yet and too expensive for most people, Also may not be good if your router will be far away from your play area. ASUS or Netgear Wifi 6E router and you will be set.
Koss KSC75 are like 20 bucks and sound great. look like they are from the 80s but they are pretty awesome once you get the cables routed and tied down.
I still think the Vive Cosmos headphones are the best option. They're modular, they flip up and down, the cables align with the Quest 3, and they look great.
I’m using the Vive Cosmos because I saw a video of yours that you put out a few months ago. I agree with you that they’re the best option out there right now. I would, however, love to see BoboVR come out with an audio solution as well. I just wanted to say thanks for the video. The nuances and ambient sounds I’m hearing in games now is really great!
You get a clip on headphone amp. That would solve the low volume problem and cord length problem. Or get a good pair of headphones or buds and pair them with the amp instead.
I've been using the vive cosmos headphone that work great and the cable aren't to long, its just hard to find i had to get mine on eBay so if you can find them I recommend to give them a shot also they fit on the bobovr s3 pro

@@lairdie I tend to not use ANC because it affects the sound quality. That's probably the only bad point about the headphones really, having to choose between the best audio quality and ANC.
Hi JayBratt! Loving the vids buddy and have already subscribed! I am a VR newbie and have just received my Meta Quest 3 and the BoBo S3 headset. My only concern is I've just spent out £50 on a pair of wireless earphones that come with a usb-c jack. Only problem is I have just realised that it might of been a mistake as that's the only micro port that I can see that I will need to use for the battery pack. Also, just realised that the Quest 3 has built in sound. Would you mind offering some advice on the above please? Many thanks and all the best with the channel! 👍👍
Hi!! Is it too late to cancel the order on the headphones? You will likely want that port for battery packs and the on board audio is decent enough you don't need headphones right away. The other option might be to get a USB C to Aux adapter if you still want to use those headphones.
Quest 3 audio is big meh against Valve Index VR. VR Ears for Quest 3 are the closest match, but you should plan what headstrap you buy as well. I got "MQ Series Elite Strap with 15000 mAh Battery and Charging Station" and that works nicely out of the box.
I bought an extension and use the 40 dollar design that clips onto the strap. I had to cut 2 inches off the clip so it would take less space on the strap. I have to use double sided tape to keep them on the s3
What we need are some over-the-ear adjustable headphones that have a built-in microphone and the setup would plug both into your headphone jack and to the USBC but the USBC cable would have like a plastic panel on it. That also had a female USBC that allowed for full pass-through charging and pass-through pcvr. So it would have to be running like PD, 3.2 and USB 3.2 Gen 2, Etc. And allow a minimum of 27 w of power. probably a GAN
For me this was a major reason i held off buying a Quest 3. I had Logitech off ear speakers for my Quest 2 that was perfect. Then, my Quest 2 died and i made the decision to upgrade. I am sorry but the quest 3 audio is too tinny and lacks quality which pissed me off. 500 dollars and you can't make decent sound?? I am patiently waiting for a decent off ear system. Thank you for the video
If you're coming from the Logitech Chorus yeah the Quest 3 is gonna sound very trebley and not get nearly loud enough. I personally had a lot of issues with the Chorus and didn't use them on my Quest 2 though. I had an off brand set of off ear speakers that I still have on my last remaining Quest 2 actually.
I normally would use my Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headphones, though have encountered strange issues with it. For some very odd reason, if I use the Meta Pro controllers on my Q3 and am connected to the 6ghz router, the headphones get interference and distortion. Use the stock Q3 controllers, no issues. Use the pros and have no wifi connection (but keep the wifi turned on), no issues either. It's very weird and I have no definitive answer as to why beyond something is overpowering the 2.4ghz band the headphones are on in that specific use-case.
Any updates since this last video? Love your content! Keep them coming brother! I just subbed. Did you find a better solution for audio, battery, fan headstrap since this last video on Quest 3? On my Quest 2, I love my Kiwi headstrap that came complete with headphones, extended battery, and facial interface. I also bought a separate fan. I'm searching for a similar setup on my new Quest 3, but can't find any solution as I don't want to use earbuds and prefer Elite over Halo. Fan is a necessity as I play a lot of Smash Drums and Moon Rider (Too cheap to buy Beat Saber) lol.. Any advice and possibly links to buy would be great, thanks again for this content.
I wish I could somehow connect my RayBans to the S3 because the audio is great (and they don’t need to transition inside the headset!). I like using the Prism earbuds or a headset with mic but I’m sure they are not great during hi action activity
Just got our Quest 3. Sound is great...unless you actually do want privacy. Has there been any updates for options? I really don't like earbuds very much. The 3 is loud enough that when my daughter was watching Cats on our Vudu account, I could sing along with her. That is REALLY loud. lol

i just want to try a Q3 Q_Q everyone bangs on about how it's way better than a Q2 IEM headphones are best for VR, get a custom short cable made that routes on the head strap as majority have removable cables. Audio on some of the £30+ range are amazing, better than any of these clip on garbage
Audio on q3 feels like an afterthought. Pretty sure the 3.5mm port doesn't support mic by design (confirmed when my first Q3 had a broken internal mic. i dont think usb mic worked either but i cant realistic do that anyway with how power hungry the thing is). also bluetooth is apparently too slow? never tried but that's what i heard. i suppose some games dont need a mic but not having a mic on my first Q3 drove me nuts (i since replaced it and life is good)
I just sold my Valve index to get a Quest 3... I haven't even opened it yet... but I'm already feeling disappointed in what I'm hearing. Are the original speakers bad enough that you should want to upgrade? Index had perfect speakers.... I was expecting perfection since the index came out 5 years ago.
Internal speakers of the quest 3 is not gonna compare with the indexes off ear solution, but the audio is an upgrade from the previous internal speakers from the quest 2, as he said in the video most people will be fine with quest 3s internal speakers but for those who want to upgrade, these are the headphones he’s found and tested so far. The one he recommends would be similar in styling to the index, can’t speak on the quality difference as I haven’t owned them, but I doubt 50 dollar headphones will be a 1:1 with the indexes, I’m sure a good chunk of change went on them.
Hey man you should pick up a fiio dac it makes my audio crisper and gets it way louder in the truck. It's small too so you should be able to hide it. I'll grab it out in a day or two and try it out but I gotta get some iems to pair with it.
@@poodytanx8611 none have been perfect. Bobo were decent. A set of 3d printed ones I had were alright but got discontinued. Now quest 3 seems to just have none
The lack of great audio solution for Quest 3 is probably the main thing holding me back from buyinghh at the moment, I wish they would have some high quality premium option for it.
I'm new to the Quest and have been using the in built headphones. My question is why can't you use Bluetooth headphones? Do they not work well with the Quest? I have the Sony Pulse Explore earbuds and was planning to use that with the Quest if I needed to.
They use older Bluetooth stack and there is a big latency. You can use Bluetooth only if they come with USB-C dongle which you connect to Quest and that features a newer Bluetooth chip. Still you get like 30ms latency. Audio is the biggest drawback on Quest 3.
Seriously Meta wtf...what percent of headphones have the cable on the left side? It just always made sense to me having it on the right of the Q2, seems like a goofy last minute decision to prepare us for the port less version next gen or 2!
I was playing hyperdash some vr shooter and out of nowhere the audio I was hearing was on the right side only now I’ve been looking up solutions and I have not found any. You try epos pc38x hesrd they are great with the quest but iam too broke to find out going to one day tho cause artic nova 3 is ok but i feel i can do better on quality
Maybe I’m in the minority, but none of these are better than the issue that the stock speakers fix: comfortable audio solution. None of them are confortable. None of them actually solve any issue. Maybe sound volume but you can easily solve that with a basic Amazon wired in ears. I don’t get who’s buying these. Sound sucks compared to any decent audio brand I’m sure… regardless! I did use these from ebay but I could not tell the difference. The item was 'Ergonomic Earphones Immersive Sound Earbuds Earphones 3.5mm AUX for Meta Quest 3'.
I commented to you about it before but BringhurstVR had a video (no longer up) where he attached vive cosmos headphones to his headset, may still be worth looking into
On the Quest 2 I used the Logitech Chorus, but they cannot fit on the Quest 3. Thank you for testing this. I will get my VR Ears and try them on the Quest 3. I used them on my Quest 1.
You should probably just get a nice set of actual headphones to use with them. There seems to be plenty of room for even most over the ear headphones to be used, and if you get some higher quality ones that need an AMP you can route that to your waist or something for FAR better sound.
only problem with regular headphones if your useing S3 headset they pick up a vibration from the fan if you have it on
@@waylandergemmell9858 I almost always forget there is a fan on my headset, in the case of anything requiring you to want that on you'd probably be better off with some good IEMs anyhow and would avoid that.
Wifi 6E if you want good VR, Wifi 6(non e) works but not the best for certain games,
Wifi 7 mostly not supported yet and too expensive for most people, Also may not be good if your router will be far away from your play area.
ASUS or Netgear Wifi 6E router and you will be set.
It’s hard for you to use Google to search the Web, or just search here on TH-cam?
Because all the relevant information readily available.
Koss KSC75 are like 20 bucks and sound great. look like they are from the 80s but they are pretty awesome once you get the cables routed and tied down.
I loved the BoboVR A2 audio for my Quest 2, was really disappointed to see after all this time they haven't come up with a Q3 version
Hey Jay, bit a distinction thing: I believe what you are calling the ‘aux’ port is really the headphone jack. Just sayin’ . . . Love your videos!
I've been using my old logitech g333 vr from my quest 2, need to get a short 6 inch audio extension cable and it's ok... right side hangs down a bit.
@@Vecsen12 thanks very much.
with my vr ears I use the vive rubbers and attach it to the white band in front of were you have it and it sits there solid
Great use of the word Rubbers :)
I do hear they are in the works we just gotta wait and see who brings what out first ❤
You get a clip on headphone amp.
Atta boy.
I use a Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headphone with my Quest 3. Wireless (2.4ghz connection, so no lag) when playing PCVR games and wired via a very short 3.5mm cable for standalone games. Works well for my needs
Great choice! A more price friendly option and the ones i use would be the nova 7s

Headphone jack with cheapo wired Earbuds, why stress beyond that?
The headphones are very useful , good video shows .
I use some IEMs I got from Amazon. Sound quality is pretty decent until you smack the cables or something.
Also I would be okay with some decent ear cups the stock audio is great especially if focused more into ears.
I just use some sennheiser pc38x. Best overall headset on the market
Nice! Yeah I use Sennheiser's on both my PC's
I wish I could somehow connect my RayBans to the S3 because the audio is great (and they don’t need to transition inside the headset!). I like using the Prism earbuds or a headset with mic but I’m sure they are not great during hi action activity
I simply use beyerdynamic DT 900 pro x open back overead headphones, or some iems for travel ( truthear x crinacle zero)
Just got our Quest 3. Sound is great...unless you actually do want privacy. Has there been any updates for options? I really don't like earbuds very much. The 3 is loud enough that when my daughter was watching Cats on our Vudu account, I could sing along with her. That is REALLY loud. lol
Their are headphones FOR the quest 3 on ebay that I am looking to get, they look similar to the kiwi ones but they clip onto their brand of battery packs which I have
I may try to design 3D printable replacement covers for the Bobo headphones to fit the S3. Stay tuned.
The soundcore vrp10 earbuds are the best for active games
i just want to try a Q3 Q_Q everyone bangs on about how it's way better than a Q2
IEM headphones are best for VR, get a custom short cable made that routes on the head strap as majority have removable cables. Audio on some of the £30+ range are amazing, better than any of these clip on garbage
Your new studio looks Great!!!
👍🎉🎉🎉 💙 🐈 Mom
my mantis broke and been looking for the kiwi clip-on everywhere can't find them :(
DM me on discord... maybe I can ship you these now that I'm done with them :)
Thank you!
Thanks for showing up Alien!
I’m Good with the Built in Speakers
Hey man you should pick up a fiio dac it makes my audio crisper and gets it way louder in the truck. It's small too so you should be able to hide it. I'll grab it out in a day or two and try it out but I gotta get some iems to pair with it.
I remember you reviewing some for the 2 a while ago but still none seemed up to snuff still.
@@poodytanx8611 none have been perfect. Bobo were decent. A set of 3d printed ones I had were alright but got discontinued. Now quest 3 seems to just have none
i use my plystation pulse headset with my quest 3 they are flawless no lag bestsound quality
Ah nice. Thx for the review. So when I get Quest3 to replace my HP Reverb (it start to give up) I will not go for over ear for now.
The lack of great audio solution for Quest 3 is probably the main thing holding me back from buyinghh at the moment, I wish they would have some high quality premium option for it.
psvr og model hp jack was on the main cord, so thats y it was too long seeming im assuming
Tanks
You're very welcome Monke!

Did the maecker battery grips?
Hopefully, someone will develop some soon. I'd much rather have them than earbuds or headphones.
Thanks even though I don’t have a vr thing.
Vr is life, go rob a bank now, buy one for everyone you know
A used Quest 2 is a good and very affordable start now too. :P
@@TheGooseBruce nice!
@@stephenholmgren405 sure :D
Conclusion: either use earbuds or just the headset you use for gaming if it has bluetooth or usb-c
And I tried going to accessibility to change the audio but nothing works is there something wrong with the speakers what should I do
You try epos pc38x hesrd they are great with the quest but iam too broke to find out going to one day tho cause artic nova 3 is ok but i feel i can do better on quality
i use a external amp with my htc deluxe audio headstrap
Vega T1 works OK for 60 bucks. And no wires.
We are all waiting for the BOBOVR A3 AIR...
It looks like it... I'll let bobo know :D
Can you please do an external mic test in the future??
The stock speakers sound horrible bro
Air pods don’t work?? They have noise cancellation technology
What are those kitty cat ears on your quest?
I wanted to use my index audio but it's too much of a DIY project
i think you mean "Can Bobo strap BE UPGRADED with Speakers or Headphones?"
