I enjoy your enthusiasm for Emnylou. I'm so glad to see you bring attention to Emmylou's albums. Her albums are among the best ever made and don't seem to get the recognition they deserve.
Roses In The Snow was completely different from everything else that was getting played on the radio in 1980. Roses In The Snow took everybody by surprise because it seemed nearly everybody was wondering what direction Emmylou's next album after "Blue Kentucky Girl" was going to take but I don't think anybody expected a Bluegrass/accoustic album, going totally against the trend of the "Urban Cowboy" craze that was sweeping the country at the time aka when country went pop. "Roses In The Snow" turned lots of Baby Boomers onto Bluegrass music who had never listened to Bluegrass music. Ricky Skaggs 1st album after he left the Hot Band is "Sweet Temptation" and Emmylou sings on every track, or nearly every track on the album.
Don Williams is one of my all time favorite male countey singers. He's recorded so many good songs. His songs are so easy going and laid back. I love their version of "If I Needed You". Townes Van Zandt was an incredible song writer. You might want to check him out if you haven't already. Emmylou brought nationwide attention to Townes Van Zandt when she recorded "Pancho and Lefty" on her Luxury Liner album in the mid 1970's, 5 or 6 years before Willie and Merle had a number 1 hit with it. Emmylou's version is where Willie found the song.
Nobody sings a Bruce Springsteen song better than Emmylou, and she has recorded at least 6, maybe 7 of them over the years. Emmylou's voice soaring into the atmosphere at the end of "Racing In The Streets" is one of the many highlights of that album. Bruce harmonizes with Emmylou and Patty Scialfa at the end of the song "Tragedy" is one of the most magical moments on her "Red Dirt Girl" album.
"My Dear Companion" is the highlight for me on the Trio album. It's one of my all time favorite songs that Emmylou has recorded. "Trio" is probably one of the best compilation albums ever made.
The Legend Of Jesse James was not a soundtrack to a movie, but what they called a "concept album". The songs are connected as if each song is a chapter to the story. It was produced by Paul Kennerly who was Emmylou's husband at one time.
Emmylou was in the movie Honeysuckle Rose. Willie introduced her and she came out and sang "So You Think You're A Cowboy" with Willie's band. Emmylou adds her voice to nearly every song of Willie Nelson's "Teatro" album. She's on the cover, wearing sunglasses. It's produced by Danlel Lanois.

I am literally taking in every single word you shared with me… First of all, thank you so much for taking time to listen to my video. It truly has been a labour of love, rooted in my gratitude for art. I love all the information you shared with me about these different albums, their history and the different collaborations… It excites me that I’m getting to learn more, because I appreciate the history and will be championing it for the rest of my life in one way or another.
All of these albums that I have been taking in… Some of them since I was a young boy, and others much more recently as within the last two years when I really went out on a search to find what I am calling my gospel music. I love hearing from other people who appreciate the same music, and as far as my Emmylou Harris content goes, I hope you can look forward to some more videos that I have on their way that I have worked on. Thank you again and take good care. CC

Gah! What an awesome video. As a ELH neophyte the tie ins to Springsteen and Gill gave me more current co text. But I so love all I have learned about Trio over the course of this series. Also, movies to add to my watch list!

CC, thank you so much for championing One of my all-time favorite singers: Emmylou Harris! You, BTW, have a great singing voice, too! I had the CD, Roses in the Snow, but I guess I lost it? Oh, speaking of "If I Needed You" I love that so much that I did it on my own channel! Don Williams (The Gentle Giant) is also a favorite of mine! Thank you for this great video! God bless, Charlie (Brother Charles)
