Early spring Pike & Bass fishing on a Remote Iowa river! (this river is loaded)

- These "hidden gem" river spots are my absolute favorite places to fish! I think there's a notion that small rivers in the middle of nowhere don't hold fish, but that is definitely not true most times from what i've found. Although today was brutal and I had to work hard for the Pike, they are definitely in there and they are hungry! Northland Tackle knocked it out of the park with their new soft plastic line-up called "eye candy" as that was the only thing I could catch fish on! The Smallmouth and Pike both absolutely crushed it as it hopped along the bottom! Can't wait for the temperatures to warm even more this spring as the fishing is bound to get only better from here on out!

I heard that there are trout 2' long+ and some near 8lbs in that river
Same….. would be an epic riot getting into some of those! It’s kinda wild how many rivers around SE MN/NE Iowa that have trout creeks flowing into them. Even a river like the zumbro… I found a trout creek there one time by accident (as I was wading) that had a couple GIANT brown trout hanging out at the mouth. Really does make you wonder how big some of these trout could be 👀
