- I take my kayak out on the river for some spring smallie action! It's late April, right around the time of year I start finding river bass willing to bite. Let's see if we can catch a few today!

Congratulations brother 👍
Cograts
Hell yeah!
thats cool bro, caught my first crappie yesterday and it was a 1.5 pounder
How big
I appreciate it when you catch a fish and don't scream and jump around like a fool like most other fishing TH-camrs.
Who are you watching that does that lol
@@justinbecker947prolly Jon b or most younger fishing TH-camrs lol
Agreed.
@@justinbecker947 it is more like "Who are you watching that DOESN'T do that?"..
I had to stop watching those "On yeah!! It's a big one!! Huge fish!!! He taking line!!"... As they loosen the drag... After they get the fish in they long-arm like champs...
Love the stress free, laid back composure of all your vids. I get tired of vain and competitive channels trying to convince me of something or another. I just want to relax and catch the dumbest fish in the lake.
Dude who are you watching who does that?
@@justinbecker947 "Go buy this!" "Do this" "This is the $70k set up you need!!"
When they are looking for attention more than fish
@@justinbecker947 Lojo, Norm and guys sponsored by Googan. They never seem to have any rods break or anything. I broke a squarebill in my 3rd cast. Bill just broke clean off. Soft plastics suck. They tear apart so fast. That's just my take and opinion.
Fishing is to be relaxed, that’s why I don’t do tournament fishing,🐟on
Hey man, I don't even fish that much myself but I love your videos! They bring me so much happiness and tranqulity. Cheers from Canada
What a great way to start a Saturday morning in upstate South Carolina, watching my favorite TH-cam angler catching his favorite fish, river small mouth bass. Thank you for sharing.
Im here in Central Georgia!
I’m Irmo, SC
you know it's a good day when ndyak uploads
Smallies are a lot of fun to catch!
Just went wading for smallies in the Susquehanna on Monday. Caught 14 smallmouth and 1 big walleye. The fish are getting really active again!
I'm getting excited for the topwater bite. Only a couple more weeks...
West Branch or North Branch?
@@scottweisel3640 near wrightsville/ John Wright restaurant
@@scottweisel3640 I thought I replied but I guess I didn’t because I don’t see the response. I was wading near John Wright restaurant and heading up the river.
I was going to go fishing this morning but it rained me out. Watching your video is the next best thing.
"Sometimes you just have to say 'Please'..." LOL Love that, mate; another awesome video...!!! 😎
Some nice catches! Thanks for sharing!!
Those smallmouth you caught are impressive. Nice size and thick too. Pretty fish 👍
One of the only fisherman I've been able to consistently watch without pause. I wish I had as much awesome places to go as you! Thanks for the great content!
Love your videos! I refer to you as the Bob Ross of fisherman. I always watch your videos before bed cause it’s so relaxing. Keep it up man 🤙🏼
Rainy today where I am, and calling for strong storms later. Can't get out to go fishing. So, the next best thing. Watch your videos. Thanks for posting!
The fish wink at me when it’s that clear ❣️🤭😜🙏🏼😝😆🤪
Great blue heron flew by w/a 1 1/2lb bass, he was laughing, no wink🤣🙏🏼❣️Tight lines everyone, God bless❣️
You make it look so effortless. A year of getting skunked in the Kayak, I finally got 3 smallies today. You're great keep doing your thing.
haven't been fishing in 3 years. finally got back out today and caught 2 bass. lost 4. what a great day
Nice man
@@kyleangelone1074 felt so good to have a fish on
I just bought the yellow duck(savage gear), got it yesturday. Can't wait to go try it.
Yess, warmer weather, more ride alongs, more vids.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
Due to the warm winter most weeds never 100% died off, this will be an interesting opener in MN. I was out a few weeks ago targeting crappies and was surprised at the weed edge still in the lake. Can't wait to go for the LM and pike !
I watch several fishermen on a regular basis and I love you all. The thing I find really funny is that you all say the same thing: "I forgot my ??? today." You guys need a checklist...😄 Thank you for the great videos.
There’s just so many different variables it makes it easy to forget something. Different rods and gear for different fish, different kayaks and with the Hobie there’s detachable components I can’t forget. Half of the stuff I leave in my truck while half of it has to come out after each trip. I had my anchor stake sitting in one of the grooves on the bottom of my Tarpon which was sitting upside down in the garage so it’s easy to look right past it and forget if I switch it up and take the Hobie.

Got my first Striped Bass of the season here in Connecticut. Spring finally feels like it's here.
some great fishing videos with my morning coffee, thank you sir
Man I love smallies . The best fishin on the planet in my opinion. I miss it so much . I’m disabled now and can’t go like I used to so thanks for takin me along
MN opens their season next weekend then I can get back on some of my favorite smallie spots! I can’t wait!
@@ndyakangler I use to fish the James River in South Central Virginia which has some really good smallies . I’d would have loved to fished in MN or Michigan.
Just a dandy day to be on the water. The river conditions were spectacular and you found some willing participants. Had to spend the first half of the day laying down fresh mulch. This was a good choice to unwind for the end of the evening. Thanks Matt
Makes me feel better after getting skunked this morning after being on the water for over 3 hours. Thank you Matt!
It’s been a tough bite here the last couple weeks. This was about the only success I’ve had.
Enjoyed the video very much. Very high-quality angling but nice and low-key. Appreciate you sharing your fishing experience.
Perfect timing. I was watching one of your videos to see how to tie a Trilene Knot XD Then I got a notification of a new video! Good Saturday morning.
Another great day!! Thanks, Matt!!
Real fishing. Wonderful. Gentle.
Yeah buddy another great video!
Man I can't wait for MN Bass opener this Saturday 😩🎣
I very much enjoy your videos. some of my most memorable fishing excursions were in my kayak on the Wisconsin River chasing smallies and any other fish I could coax into hitting a lure. My kayak days are over-, age related, but I will relive these fun days through you. Thank you
Thank you for taking us with. Great vid as always.
just wanted to say, I used to watch about 20+ fishing channels on youtube, after filtering out the crap / boring / over hyped idiots, only you and 618 fishing remain. Keep it up my man.
Thanks! I've watched several of 618's videos too and enjoyed them!
Best fishing content on TH-cam, IMO. Love the areas you fish. Keep the vids coming. Great work!
Beautiful day. I like to plan my fishing by the wind and let it move me around. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Always looking forward to your next outing, didn't disappoint!
Another treat to liven up a Saturday morning! Thanks for another great video, Matt! Used to be the first thing I did on a Saturday was check last night's lotto drawing, but now I've switched to your channel, and get a winner every time!
more quality smallmouth Thanks for sharing
Thanks. Matt, for sharing this wonderful trek on a gorgeous clear water river, while you're catching some beautiful smallies, it just doesn't get any better than that! Take care and be safe!
man you are blessed with some world class fisheries. here in maryland we have 3 rivers you can target smallies on and everything you catch would be a PB here. it's all rooster tail and 2" grubs here.
awsome video some nice smallies🎣
Great content as usual. Can’t beat big smallies.
It's a great spring! Great stuff Matt
Caught me a flounder out off Carolina beach this past week on vacation.. Bout time to try and fail to bass fish again this year in Kentucky. Love the videos man.
Haven’t found the smallies return to my leg of the river from wherever they go to spawn. But! A little feeder lake has been nice with the largemouth, blue gill and crappie while I wait for them to come back
Nice bass as always Thanks for taking us along
On a stay at home day like this one of your videos was just what I needed
I think the rocks and concrete hold in heat from the sun rays and that's why the fish hold tight to it plus it's the perfect place to get out the current and ambush food. Great video any day the sun is out or the weather is nice is a great day to be on the water. For us diehard fisherman any day is a good day to be on the water my favorite time to drift the river for steelhead is in a blizzard because most of the time you have the river to yourself.
I caught my first muskie last friday on an Ultra-light rod and 1/16oz jighead i was using for panfish 😅 it was a real small muskie though maybe 9 inches
Another great trip! Keep them coming!
What nice river smallmouth!
The water in Iowa is sooo high and I can’t get out right now 😞 thanks for posting so I can get my fix!
Was crappie jigging with 2 pound mono on a old ice rod and caught a 3 pound Smalley literally like a five minute fight so fun and my new pb
Love the lakes you fish and your kayak
I have the hobie passport 12r and it's amazing. I got the turbo fins with the reverse on them too. Is that the compass 12?
wow nice looking samlies good job tks for sharing😊
Good night everyone, because the videos from this channel make me sleepy
@jakarta 10:45 pm
absolutely love the content you do. Keep it up!!
best fishing channel on YT by miles. keep up the amazing content, dude.
Great catches my guy! God bless, and keep those lines tight...🎣
Thanks for another great fishing adventure. I fish in a northern Wisconsin Vilas County lake. And it's similar to a lake you fish in. There is large mouth bass, pan fish, pike and musky and crappie. But no small mouth sad face, but I manage fine with catching large mouth. I just recently ordered a few top lures and can't wait to try a whopper plopper 75. I normally do fine wacky rigging the large mouth. And I also recently broke down and spent 200 on a Daiwa set up. Good luck to you fishing this season
400,000 subs ! Happy for you.
Nice seeing the 'ol Hobie Revo drive in use!
GREAT VIDEOS! Makes me wish I could go fishing again.
Them awesome lure .I've use them in the past when yakking for sea trouts😊
I enjoyed this video very much, the clear natural water mmmmh,. But still no green on the trees, here (Germany) green of nature is exploding allready the last 10 days, I love it when live is coming back. Anyway I think your nature will follow very soon ...👍👍👍
The leaves are starting to come in now! I’m along the north edge of the US so our spring is a little later than everyone else here.
That kyack is sick!!
Those smallies were nice chunky fish!
some beautiful smallies man - the bronze color is stunning in them
Man I would love to have one day of fishing with this man
Excellent! Glad the smallies are back!!2
Man, I wish the rivers in Southern IL were nice like this.
Where I’m at it seems we have more river algae, grass, and weeds than usual for early May. Rivers are high from regular rain. Wind is a factor too.
Always happy to see a new upload
Those geese were NOT happy with you being there at the start LOL
This Guy catches more fish in 3 minutes than most people catch all season.
Knowledge of habitat, coupled with knowing what lure(s), will give ol’Matt the best chance to boat a few. Very Sharp Fella!👍
Awesome session. Seems like you had a pretty good bag!
Omg, have all my babies!!!
Nice chunk!
For April 1st next year you should put out a video with music, flashy edits, and huge celebrations when you land a fish and say it’s your new style
This lure is my favorites 👍💪
Surprised to not see you get that floating moss on your bait. Enjoyed the watch.
It broke apart pretty easy if I yanked my lure through it. I think it’s the dead decomposing bits of last years algae floating up.
Great video - Just thinkin about how those released smallies go back in the water and tell everyone about their alien abduction - must be something!
Man you get it done. Sweet
i went fishing the other day. the only thing i caught was a glimpse of some fish.
Videos are exciting and calm. Really enjoy...
Caught my PB yesterday using the same set up thank you
I have my ap final tomorrow but studying can wait
absolutely stupendous outting Matt..
stay safe out there dude..
buh bye 👋🤓
That second smallie you caught, they've been doing that to me all week. Just pick up my jig and slowly swim away with it. Odd behavior I don't see that often, let alone every bite I've had in a week.
Thank you for creating and sharing this content. Curious about the algae, spring still and cool water, caused by fertilizer run off? TIGHT LINES ALL
There’s always some algae rising up off the river bottom this time of year. We just didn’t get much snow over the winter and no spring flood to flush it all through. There was about 40cfps moving through this river when I was there last week, normally this time of year it’s somewhere between 500-1,200cfps. The wind was stronger than the current and those spots the wind was blowing into had a bunch of green stuff piling up.
@@ndyakangler thank you for explaining the situation and educating me. I've not experienced anything like that in the spring. I enjoy and learn from your videos, thank you again. TIGHT LINES
Nice! Thank you.
Another fantastic video!
Any tips on a good, camera for hat?
Probably a weird question, but what pants do you recommend for kayak fishing in the summer? Completely scorched my legs over the weekend when I was out on the water for a few hours
I like the Columbia silver ridge stretch pants. The little bit of stretch is nice for getting in and out of the kayak and climbing around rough terrain, and the synthetic fabric dries fast. I’m not sure if they still make them, I bought like six pairs when Amazon had them cheap and have used them for several years now. Last I checked they had a newer version that didn’t have the zipper cargo pocket like mine.
@@ndyakangler thank you for the info! Much appreciated!
You might not see this but I love your videos
