Love this one, just north of me. My first long solo XC followed the Wisconsin from Lone Rock west to Prairie du Chien. I had a bald eagle as my wing man for a portion of the flight. Cory, your videos and constant inspiration were a huge motivator for me at 42 years old to restart my training at the end of 2020 and power through it to my check ride a few weeks ago. Meeting you and chatting for a few minutes at OSH was great, and the few moments you spent chatting with my 9 year old daughter about flying really got her pumped to go fly with her Dad!
Beautiful landscapes and a river with actual water, unlike here out west. Not a lot of rising terrain but stunning in it's own way. Thank you Cory and Ghost!
Cory, Really nice unobstructive view hanging like Superman under your left wing. Dumb question, the last time I flew like this all we had was Loran-C and GPS was just starting. When I flew I also had to keep on top of navigation. It must be nice to always have track handy so you can explore like this? Also, where have all the bugs and birds gone? Especially down over the rivers was always a problem with that for me....Moses
I often just let go of the navigation and keep the sun in position. Getting lost is part of the fun... But yes, the magenta line keeps things reasonably 'on track'... I've learned that birds don't climb very well. Don't fly under them and give them space... I really make an effort to respect wildlife insomuch as I try to not spook them. They're traffic like anything else. See and avoid. Bugs are another story. I have a nice lens cover that doubles as an ND and Polarization filter. I swap them out whenever dirty and they're usually covered in bugs... Just part of it I suppose. I lost several hours of footage due to bugs on the lens this year. I only post the good stuff.
Hello, I'm not from Wisconsin but I vacation there every summer. The highway crosses the river north of Wausau a few times. I'm wondering, the video starts in Prairie Du Chien and ends in ? Thanks.
I sure loved this flight!
