This tutorial is so good!!! I so appreciate your story about growing up and learning these skills and really focusing down on doing them right. So excited to start working on more of these moves. I’ve already been working on bubbles, crossing over, and walking-in-place. Working up to transitions. They scare the hell out of me, but I’m getting there!! Thanks so much for this great vid! 🌈🛼

Love this! I’m very new to skating (started last August) and have no history with the sport or the culture, so I love your advice of getting to know about the history of skating. Before getting into skating, I had no idea there were so many styles and regional flares on skating. It put a lot of things into context when I started learning about various ways to roll. I’m still just learning my basics so not sure where I want to eventually go, but for now just learning about different types of skating has been really exciting! I was never good at anything athletic, but skating is one area I’m determined to really put effort into growing and learning. 🥰 Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
I stumbling across these skate dancing videos has been really fun to watch, also inspiring. I have recently bought my youngest and my self rollerblades, it has been little over 25 years since I have been on rollerblades. Holly crap the muscles and tendons that I have forgot I had to use just to balance in these skates. As for the dancing side of things a fish flopping around on dry land has more moves than me, growing up I was always playing street hockey.
I'm 7 mins into video...🤔 You are my new go to guy frfr. Love your energy and suggestions, never thought of a style. So I'm gonna watch all of your videos before my skates get here in a few days. Thanks for sharing 💯👍
I have learned, though, that many people prefer the slick, so people really make their own rules regarding wheels. This flexibility is making it much easier for me to choose my next wheels, knowing I cld love em or hate em, but I won't know, 'till I try.
Great observation, I have a video about wheels where I talk about the nuance of wheels. This video is about 8 Tips for skaters so I ain't get into the details about wheels. Preference is big with skaters but choosing the wrong wheel hardness can damage your feet and create additional falls. In the video I talk about how the type of skating we choose will affect our wheel choice. Where do people prefer to use slick wheels? Would that same person make that choice if they skated outside? th-cam.com/video/rSSQU7X1yrM/w-d-xo.html
So happy to find your channel. I’m a beginner and this kind of representation matters. I will be supporting as much as I can. Question: do you have a video specifying your favorite brand of skates, preferred wheel hardness, and other technical details? I’m buying my first pair of skates soon and I want to make the right decision.
So glad I found this video! It has really made me stop and think about what kind of skater I want to be. I don’t wanna just know random tricks. I want to belong to a community where everything I learn will blend together and do something that takes real skill and looks beautiful.
Just got upgraded from vanilla and laser to new vanilla and proline. Yeah my style is unique like fast rhythm jam skating with intense foot work. Had a proline in the early nineties. Great stuff! Love the video.
Not sure how I made it to your TH-cam channel but so glad I did. Found my way back to skating due to pandemic life and have been enjoying it thus far. I like to learn all that I can about physical activities so that I can perform them well and with good technique. I feel this helps to minimize injury. Thank you for all the excellent content and I have definitely subscribed to your channel.
Dopeness my brotha!!! I’ve skated 27 years (JB and rhythm rolling) and I’ve been learning even more from some of the skaters I’ve seen on social media...I know most of this stuff you’re talking about but recently have been asked by several people to teach a beginner/intermediate class...this really helps as far as the information I can start those classes with...much appreciated!!! 👊🏾🔥🛼
Thanks for this video. I been trying to look for names of styles for so long (mostly based on Skatelyfe’s videos). Only recently learned about JB Chicago style, but I didn’t know about jam skate or rhythm skating. Even names of certain tricks I’m learning about - I think the style I enjoy watching is the dancing while skating rather than stationary moves.
This video gave me a bit of anxiety but thanks for the tips. I'm over 30 years in but now I'm focusing on expressing myself more through dancing and complex footwork. As much as I'd love to own a pair of derby skates or low ankle, I'm less confident due to a serious ankle injury I suffered. I'm rebuilding my quads, calves and ankles first ... we'll see! Again, thanks & it's awesome to see your generation apply so much interest & love to skating. It saved a lot of our lives in the inner cities of Harlem New York and more during the 1980's.

I got skates for Christmas and have just fallen back in love with skating. I never thought to think of the style I am going for. I just want to be free and let my body do whatever it feels like doing. I have realize that I am soooooo much more comfortable dancing on skates than I am just on my feet.

Thanks for your list of basics to practise!! I just got my first pair of skates and am excited to build up a good routine and groundwork.
I'm working on a solid progression now. I'm doing research to really give people beginning something stronger to follow.
You always have so much knowledge and experience and express it with such charisma. Love your videos and thank you for sharing and teaching!
You & your video are AMAZING. I know you know but for people like me that haven't skated in 40 some years & still have my skates in great condition after skating 5 to 6 times a week for years gives me such encouragement to go through with it & start back up! The body doesn't work the same after all these years though. Any suggestions that would be different or to put extra thought into as I familiarize myself again?
Thank you!
Freaking Best Beginner Skate Video on the net, period! My second pair of skates come today, and I'm all over these tips!! Practice, Practice, Practice! I know exactly what and who I want to skate like. Thank you so much for teaching us for FREE!!! BOSS!!
Turn up. Can't wait to see the developments.

So happy to find your channel. I’m a beginner and this kind of representation matters. I will be supporting as much as I can.
Question: do you have a video specifying your favorite brand of skates, preferred wheel hardness, and other technical details?
I’m buying my first pair of skates soon and I want to make the right decision.
My apologies, I skipped tips #1 & #2 😅
So glad I found this video! It has really made me stop and think about what kind of skater I want to be. I don’t wanna just know random tricks. I want to belong to a community where everything I learn will blend together and do something that takes real skill and looks beautiful.
Just found you on yt I’m back to the basic after 15 years and we were doing this training at the rink in Chicago hard work and dedication yes indeed
Glad ive done my research before i start on sunday! Dope advise! Great content, love this history...thank you
All was well said. Thank you for the words of Wisdom... Much Peace.✌🏾
Peace to you as well
Thank you. Great info. You're right about too many lessons from beginners.
Just got upgraded from vanilla and laser to new vanilla and proline. Yeah my style is unique like fast rhythm jam skating with intense foot work. Had a proline in the early nineties. Great stuff! Love the video.
Fantastic tutorial with amazing tips! After skating for 11 years, I'm not the biggest fan of beginners for beginners tutorials myself.
Thank you so much. I used to roller skate when I was little. I miss it. Never learned fancy tricks but I’m ready to have fun and try. Great tutorial!
This is a great video my brother. Very informative and inspiring. Bless
Glad you enjoyed it
Not sure how I made it to your TH-cam channel but so glad I did.
Glad I could help
Thanks for this video. I been trying to look for names of styles for so long (mostly based on Skatelyfe’s videos). Only recently learned about JB Chicago style, but I didn’t know about jam skate or rhythm skating. Even names of certain tricks I’m learning about - I think the style I enjoy watching is the dancing while skating rather than stationary moves.
Glad I could help. Have you seen my other history videos on the channel? I talk more about specific styles on there and on my blog.
@@Dunbeezytv i’ll go take a look
This video gave me a bit of anxiety but thanks for the tips. I'm over 30 years in but now I'm focusing on expressing myself more through dancing and complex footwork. As much as I'd love to own a pair of derby skates or low ankle, I'm less confident due to a serious ankle injury I suffered. I'm rebuilding my quads, calves and ankles first ... we'll see! Again, thanks & it's awesome to see your generation apply so much interest & love to skating. It saved a lot of our lives in the inner cities of Harlem New York and more during the 1980's.
Glad everything worked out. Any particular reason why you were anxious?
@@Dunbeezytv Your flips & movement on those skates!
Great video. I want to get back into skating I miss it alot.
Thank you so much for this! Most informative and best beginner skating video I’ve seen 💜💕
Very good information right here! Studying is super helpful because you can go out all day spending on “what’s cute” stuff but does it work for you?? Thank you for educating a past speed skater trying to bring myself back on the scene and learn more styles.
Motivational speaker ❤
I loved your video! I started skating again after 16 years. I have a bad hip joint so i was nervous. But i skate just fine if i dont extend my one hip out too much. I love it. I dance around the rink, just not with my feet cause my hip makes me nervous. But here i was in my kitchen trying your moves! I think i need a larger area to practice haha
Thanks I really enjoyed learning from your video!
Thanks for watching and thanks for the support
I got skates for Christmas and have just fallen back in love with skating. I never thought to think of the style I am going for. I just want to be free and let my body do whatever it feels like doing. I have realize that I am soooooo much more comfortable dancing on skates than I am just on my feet.
The video cuts during the tutorials are so cute and funny! Thanks for breaking down some moves.
Everything leading up to 12:56 was truly incredible, thank you for that
Thank you 😊 Your so amazing 👏
I love Skating & really want to learn Jam Skating.
Damn this was 4 years ago , hope you’re still skating bro I’m starting out my journey been skating for a month now :)

Thanks for the great video! I grew up skating in the 70s and 80s and it is so good to see that it is getting popular again! Please keep the tutorials coming❤️
So in your skate history video when you said “Hiram” I wasn’t going to assume you meant GA .... but when you dropped Marietta in this video I was legit SOOO stoked! I live in the Marietta/Kennesaw are right by KSU & seeing a skater like you from here is just so dope given how large all these social media platforms are ❤️ I LOVE your passion about the art of skating & watching your videos always makes me want to put on my skates & keep perfecting this craft & passion I have as well. Thanks so much Dunbar 💯
I totally agree with the beginner to beginner tutorial bit
I skated when I was younger I loved it. I what to skate again but I miss it but scared to it again
I can completely relate. That's why I like to focus on making the right environment so everyone can skate safely.
I’m 2 and a half minutes in and I already love this guy lol

Thanks for making this video! It just popped up on my
Feed and I def needed this. 🙌🏾
Thank you for explaining the difference in skates . I didn't know what the difference was. You are awesome ,please continue explaining for us beginners.
I appreciate this video soooo much. Thank you 🌹🌹
I’ve watched numerous videos as I continue to learn and honestly this one is the most valuable one. Also, the advice makes sense. Focusing on the basics opens up everything else.
Finally, a worthy skater youtuber to watch and learn from. Thank you
