my progress stagnated and stopped getting into it like I use to I still ride around and can ollie good but as a kid when my friends were progressing and I wasnt on their level made me feel defeated, keep skating tho great therapy

Thanks for the video. 👍👍 The word manual has been made widely popular through games like Tony hawk and Dave Mirra. They have been going since the 90's. I would argue that the word has been used in skating since then. It's just in different styles and circles they had their own terms. Now the term manual can be used across many different sports, styles and even used outside of sports. I was using the term manual for anything balanced on one wheel two wheels or even one foot since early 2000's or the 90's. Mountain/bmx bike one wheel balance (moving = manual) (stopped = stall) Skateboard you can have 1 wheel manual or 2 wheel manual. Roller blades you can do toe or heel manuals. Quads you can do 4, 3, 2, or even 1 wheel manual. What else would quad skaters at the skate park have called 2 wheel moving balance? I'm sure it's been manual since the 90s. 👍👍🛼🔥

I started skating as a kid and a bit in my early 20s and now just picking it back up. I was confused to see info about transitions. I never heard of it. Took me a week to figure out what it was only to find that I was already doing it.

Thanks for sharing, love learning as much as possible about the history of roller skating. We dont have the same rink culture in the UK

This reminds me when in the 1950's, we were kids working in the fields in Arkansas. One time we went to Little Rock. They still had sidewalks of wood. We passed by a rolling ring where they were dancing rock and roll. It was great to see them rolling skating to the rhythm of rock and roll. My brother and I stood by the door in awe. We got weird looks. I guess they hadn't seen anyone in between black and white. It was great!
