    Get a standard Gamesir T1s and run a wired connection from the controller to the phone over usb.
    Still recommend the Wifi extender but running bluetooth for a controller can still cause some issues.

    Hi, I just got a Gamesir T1S and it works on the tello through my iPhone 6 also works to play games on my android and windows 10 laptop.

    my problem is that I'm not able to use the PS4 Controller, It's not recognized by the Tello App, even though my Android phone is responding to the controller....

    I'll buy a Tello and I'll see if I can get used to flying the virtual sticks on the phone. I just don't like the additional prep work every time I want to relax and fly around a bit.

    Thanks for the update! Using the PNX controller with my Tello and works great but have ordered the Niaomi WiFi extender primarily for a greater field of flight. Did not realize it will also rectify the indeed noted video latency. Keep up the great work!

    I'm still getting frame drops with T1D, Xiaomi wifi extender. Even in airplane mode with wifi and bluetooth. But flying with the phone in Airplane mode with the wifi extender I've had minimal drops.

    I heard the blue tooth controller interferes with the WiFi extender so I got the controller to fly aggressive and I got the WiFi extender to do fine recording 👍🏼

    Interesting. I purchased a Nimbus Steel Series wireless controller separately for my Tello and have had no issues with video whatsoever. (Using it in conjunction with an old iPhone SE).
    I didn’t even know DJI had controllers available for the Tello when I purchased the Tello a few months ago through Amazon.

    I use a Gamevice controller with my iPad mini (no Bluetooth). I had terrible video frame dropping. Also the Gamevice controller has significant latency (0.5 - 1.5 seconds) when controlling the Tello. I used a WiFi extender and improved the video, but the controller is not reliable for precise control of the drone.

    Just got a Gamesir T1d a couple days ago, and connects fine on my nexus 6p, but even with the Xiaomi range extender, I still get lots of frame skipping. Minimal frame skipping when I'm using the repeater with just the phone, but with the Gamesir, video is horrendous.

  • @ukausb
    @ukausb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Maybe the extender works with 5.8 GHz so no conflict with bluetooth

    The one I bought works fine with my tello. I have had it for a long time. I really find it hard to believe people don't know this. You have to do the firmware update for the tello out of the box.

    I bought the GameVice controller for my son's Tello and it worked really well. The sticks felt normal, no problem. However, if a person wants to actually fly it FPV in 3D goggles, it will not work unless you jury-rig it with an OTG cable since the Tello plugs directly into the GameVice. The T1D will allow a person to insert the phone into 3D goggles because it connects via BlueTooth.

    Thanks for the info! Been binge watching Tello videos since (and before) I ordered mine. :) Definitely gonna look into the Wifi extender, seems almost silly not to get one for $30 when it gives you like four times the range on a $100 drone! Hahaha.

    Why not just get the Ryze Tech GameSir T1d Controller made specifically for the Tello?

    • @HalfChrome
      @HalfChrome  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could, but it hasn't proven to be reliable, it is expensive and then you can't use it for anything else.

    • @Bobster986
      @Bobster986 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Expensive, it's $29.95 at B&H Photo and it's made for the Tello. Maybe that's why you have to use all that other gear to make yours work properly. ???

    • @HalfChrome
      @HalfChrome  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are lots of reviews that IT DOES NOT WORK. Amazon even pulled the listing since all the packages that included it were getting returned.

      Been watching videos, most seem like user error. Here's a good one how well the controller works if you bind it correctly. th-cam.com/video/YmX8rrffuYI/w-d-xo.html

    Is your Tello app stable? I was flying around with my brand new Tello with up to date software but 60-70% times I try to record video or use 360 view Tello app hangs with drone hang in place. I need to kill app and start it again. I can fly all my three batteries without recording video easily (taking stills doesn’t hang it). Try to record video... 💥

    I've purchased the Gamesir T1S on Ebay. Compatible with Android, IOS and Tello with no problems at all. Can use gamepad for other android and IOS apps as well.
    Xiaomi WIFI Repeater 2 (M1) works a treat. Place it as high as you can off the ground.
    I turn on Airplane mode on my phone, then enable wifi and bluetooth. Turning off the GSM has made an incredible difference to the video performance.

    I'm using the Gamevice controller, it's a bit more expensive but the joysticks are very responsive. Much better than the on-screen controls. My only gripe is you have uncase your phone.

    Get a Gamesir T1S or regular T1 and use a OTG USB cable. Works fine on my Android with the TelloFPV app. Bluetooth is going to interfere with the wifi plus latency of the controls which there's already that with the wifi connection and with Bluetooth you're adding more. Bluetooth is going to kill your range and video quality. Wired USB connection to phone is far superior. The Wifi Extender is only half the equation. You really get range by avoiding the Bluetooth remote and using a wired remote or on screen sticks. Wired remote eliminates the Bluetooth problem. I don't think the regular Gamesir T1 or T1S works with the Tello app, have to use TelloFPV.

    Why is it that everything that DJI touches follows this same pattern "Oh yeah, it's a great drone! Oh yeah, it works with Android devices. Well, THESE Android devices. Oh yeah, it works with goggles... Our goggles... and this one tablet that uses Android... but not the new Android. Older Android. No, not the last version... four versions ago. But it's solid as hell.. Mostly anyway... Totally won't work with VR because the lag will vomit you into oblivion but that's ok because the wifi extender that btw isn't supported on the same version you have to use for VR but why you'd need VR anyway we just can't understand. Anyway, you can always use a tablet with a separate HDMI output but be careful because the two tablets in the world that have it don't support ANYTHING you want to do because of course compatibility issues with the ARM processor but you can still fall back to this one six year old mini tablet that works fine with our other drones so you can always just pick one of those, which btw don't work with goggles AT ALL, unless you're of course talking about our new DJI race drone goggles which work with basically everything except half of our drones."
    I'm being super sarcastic here obviously but I just spent hours today trying to draw up a perfect goggles type setup for a decent DJI micro or mini drone for indoors, and every path I head down is a dead end because of one little fatal snag in the chain, every frickin time. I'm realllllly frustrated.
