I have a Honda trail 70 clone and I’m having a problem with voltage so the stator output is giving me 15v on idle and up to 50c on high revs I out in a new regulator but I’m only getting 6v output low or high revs and this is a 12v rectifier what can be the problem could it still be a stator issue or CDI taking too much power
If you want to wire in another brake switch (e.g front brake lever on handlebar in addition to footbrake switch) I'm guessing would you add the switches in parallel?
Thanks for this video. I have connected my yellow/white to the regulators yellow and white. But the rectified voltage is close to zero and the stator voltage is reading like 7 volt. Do you have any idea what is wrong
Hey,i have problem with my regulator. I have regulator from bike that had Yellow and white from stator and my 160cc has 2 yellows. I connected them correctly to the reg/rec and it only gave 10V AC and led didnt work. I installed a KBPC5010 rectifier and the leds work flawlessly but it gives 14v DC at idle. What is wrong with my regulator? i dont want to run with that kbpc 5010 rectifier even tho it works fine but it gives too much voltage.
A simple brake light comes with 3 wires: 1 wire that goes to ground and 2 wires that will go to positive. One of the two wires is the running light (when the bike is on) the other is the brake light (when the cylinder switch is turned on). In my video the ground is the black wire and can be soldered directly to ground and the running light is the green wire which can be directly soldered to the positive +12v(This way you always have the running light on when the bike is on). The red wire, once connected, either makes the running light brighter or activates more lights, to show braking. There are a few different switches you can use to complete the connection.
Hook it up the same way. If the stator has 2 yellow wires like mine then 1 yellow stator wire goes to the pink rectifier wire and the other yellow wire goes to the yellow wire on the rectifier. If you only have 1 yellow stator wire then just tie the two wires on the rectifier together and run then both to the 1 yellow wire on the stator.
I do this and when I use a multimeter on the red wire I’m only getting 3V, shouldn’t I be getting 12? My stator has 2 yellows and not 1 white and 1 yellow
The issue is this guy keeps saying stator. Pit bikes without electric start do not have stators. They have magnetos which tho similar are different. Doing this set up the rectifier gets power from the magneto after the engine is running.
so if you have a battery for electric start, does that get wired in with the positive out on rectifier. my schematic showes the yellow as a regulated circuit and powers the choke and headlight. I have a Chinese gy6 150
Hello, I have a problem on a chinese scooter 49cc, I changed a light bulb in front of it with the motor started and the lights from the front does not work anymore, the break light works, the turn light work, and the voltage at the battery terminals are 6v without the battery. Maybe I killed the rectifier? Fron the stator at idle I have around 17-20V from yellow and from white the same, but on red is 6-8V, the front light are supplied by the red wire from the rectifier?
Can you please do a video on how to hook up the horn? I cant get mine to work unless I hook it to the ground of the headlight but this causes the headlight to shut off.
Make sure to clean the area were the horn switch touches the handlebars. It can’t be painted. This happen to me I sanded the area and now the horn works perfectly. I hope that this helps.
what white wire, i just brought a 5 pin CDI unit and there was no white wire, or is it the blue and white wire coz i cant figure out what white wire u taking about
Hi please could you help me find the charging wires for my yanmar l100 small engine rectifier/ regulator. It is a 2 phase generator/ stator please help🙏
I want to put a LED light bar on my SSR 125, I dont know what light to get due to not knowing the output and im afraid of getting a light bar that requires too much power. Im thinking a 7" 36w light? Is that too much? Will it be really dim or will it be working fully? Please help lmao
Im Destructive I think it would work fine. My headlight uses an S2 35w incandescent bulb, and in my other video it lights it up fine. Have never tested it at night though. Being LED it could possibly even be brighter than my light
Hey, great vid. I recently bought an ebay 4pin regulator/rectifier but after wiring it correctly, as you have illustrated, it is only producing between 2.5-4.2 volts. I hate electronics and am pulling my hair out trying to diagnose. Do you think it sounds like a stator problem or a dodgy regulator/rectifier?
Glad it helped! Not too sure. You should set a multimeter to AC voltage to rest the voltage coming from the stator. In my case I would test it at the yellow and white wire. See what voltage it produces because that's the voltage that is rectified and regulated.
glennspeeds so yellow from bike stator to bottom left pin, white from bike stator grounded, bottom right pin to ground also. This makes the yellow 12vDC
@@bernzie001 Dont ground your unused stator wires, you will burn out your windings, just leave them floating, Try connecting only one of the wires to the regulator, and ground the other ac side on the regulator, at first i followed this tutorial but turned out wrong for some stators, (i chose white wire, a bit brighter than yellow),now can easily power a 55w halogen full brightness on idle,

Why I'm getting 3.5VAC at idle (tested between yellow and white wire), when I rev the engine it goes up to 20VAC or something? I have chinese 125cc pitbike with 6 pole stator. It's a different way forsure but I didnt want to use it in case it fails. I was thinking braking pressure could be lost if it fails, but I'm not sure how they are designed.
Technically yes, but you don't have to bunch all the wires together and connect it to the RR. When I say to ground/frame, just connect that wire to the frame with a ring terminal or however you want. You can think of the frame as being a "wire." It is connecting everything together. Make sure to ground the RR at both points.
Ty for taking the time and making sure you go slow enough for us old people. Keep up the good work!!

That means you'll need to switch out the stator if you want to power Aux components. That stator will only run the engine.

I dried it with 3 new china rectifiers but only ever see 7 volts at output ?

Put the switch at the positive cable going to the light
Wire the positive of the light to the positive terminal on the rectifier

No problem!
And the yellow wire it ground or what?
Will my starter switch stop working if the regulator is blown?
It should still work, I dont think these bikes are wired that way. But if a you have a starter motor, it wont be charge the battery to use the motor.
@@IsaacPel - I've had the multi meter on it and it's definitely faulty so I've ordered a replacement. Just not sure if I need a starter motor too.

WHERE DO I TAP THE BATTERY FOR CHARGING???

Why not just buy a switched banjo bolt?
Not brake switch but headlight switch
Jonathan wise One way is wire a switch in series between the top left of the RR and the positive terminal of the light.
Xl 100 battery and horn setting
I have 2 yellow wires coming from my harness what now?
