Poor Titanosaur! He was only a pacific mutant dinosaur that was mind controlled and forced to fight with MG against Godzilla, and for the entire match Mechagodzilla used him as a meat shield, and at the end he was thrown into the sea but this didn't free him from mind control!

this was one of the few Godzilla movies I had ever seen as a kid and I remember crying when I saw him losing to them. I recently showed some clips of old Godzilla films to my nephew who is a big fan of the recent 2 Legendary films. He giggled his butt off at how silly these films were, made me feel a bit dumb but I was happy he at least enjoyed this.

The first time that I watched this movie was about 11 years ago. The late 70s Godzilla was just so so much fun to watch. The monsters beat the shit out of each other, wrestle and throw one another around. This was the good shit.
This is one of the the darkest movies in the franchise in my opinion, Godzilla does take a beating from monsters in his movies but this one feels like the monster king got curve stomped.
Growing up on these films before social media and phones and even TH-cam, it was an out of world experience! I would get such an adrenal rush when Godzilla would pop up and spring into action, theme song and all!
Watching this after Godzilla Minus One just won it's Oscar for Best Special Effects, I'm really impressed and happy with how far this franchise has come after 70 years. Minus One did amazingly for a budget of only $15 million or less, and it shows with how immersive Godzilla is in every scene he's in. But I'd argue that you can see this in almost any Godzilla movie since 1954. Even here. The miniatures, the scaling, the explosives, the sound design, and not to mention the hardworking suit actors as well as the crew working behind the camera- each movie was made with just as much love, effort, and dedication from its crew to bring Godzilla and his co-stars to life. Now with Godzilla officially being an Oscar winning franchise, it feels nice to see all that work finally pay off.
The Era Showa films were really cheesy, but in the middle of these there were wonderful films, with Gojira (1954), which is the original film and the best of all.
In every Godzilla movie he always won in the end so it doesn't matter if the enemies doesn't fight fair because he always found a way to come back in the end and win always found a way to counter the enemies moves that's what makes Godzilla the king
Showa Godzilla goes out of his way to save individual humans several times in Terror of Mechagodzilla. He arrived as those two kids were calling for him, he tried to save the squadron from Mechagodzilla, and even saved the people who were distracting Titanosaurus in the Helicopter. Showa G's years of combat experience is shown here since he was beating Titanosaurus until MG interrupted him.
Part of the appeal for me is the models and practical effects. I feel like the newer versions of Godzilla would have done better if they had embraced that instead of trying to go all Hollywood.
Some interesting facts: There were supposed to be two Titanosaurus in the original script. They were called Titans. Titanosarus teams up with Godzilla in the comics. Titanosaurus was supposed to be freed from mind control and help Godzilla destroy Mechagodzilla but for whatever reason they changed that.

I like how for almost the entire fight scene Titanosaurus is doing all the work while Mechagodzilla just sits there watching with his mouth gaped. If you look at it a second time you'll notice that it totally seems like Mechagodzilla is malfunctioning.
Probably the most tragic character in all the Showa series. Just as Godzilla represents nuclear weapons, I like to think Titanosaurus represents the suffering of captive orcas and dolphins bent to the will of their handlers.
Was watching one of the old school Godzilla films on TCM just a few weeks ago when I realized I was grinning ear to ear. I will always love this stuff!

If it was either one by themselves, Godzills could thrash them. Titano's stronger, but Showa Godzilla at this point was basically a superhero in terms of combat skill. He could dance circles around Titanosaurus if he wanted... but both Titanosaurus and Mechagodzilla at the same time is just too much for any one kaiju to take down. A team as dangerous as the Muto pair, and much more lethal.

In this film, Godzilla has no monster allies to help him fight Mechagodzilla & Titanosaurs. But he was able to come out on top!
I like how for almost the entire fight scene Titanosaurus is doing all the work while Mechagodzilla just sits there watching with his mouth gaped. If you look at it a second time you'll notice that it totally seems like Mechagodzilla is malfunctioning.
That was the alien plan stated in the movie, that titanosaurus would waste godzilla's energy
I'm not a huge kaiju film fan buy this film is very memorable for me.

I may not be the biggest fan of the mid-to-late Showa era Godzilla movies, but this is easily one of the best fight scenes in the entire series.
Wats interesting about this one is that Big G is outnumbered but is able yo hold his ground.
They very literally put him in the grave, but he keeps on getting up. Amazing.

Probably the most tragic character in all the Showa series. Just as Godzilla represents nuclear weapons, I like to think Titanosaurus represents the suffering of captive orcas and dolphins bent to the will of their handlers.

This Godzilla suit will always be my favorite. This was one of the first Godzilla movies I watched when I was little. So it’s just nostalgic now.

1:23-1:30 damn Titanosaurus has one strong and power kick.
This movie should be called, "Godzilla V.S. Titanosaurs" because the film focuses on Titanosaurs more than Mechagodzilla.

If it was either one by themselves, Godzills could thrash them. Titano's stronger, but Showa Godzilla at this point was basically a superhero in terms of combat skill. He could dance circles around Titanosaurus if he wanted... but both Titanosaurus and Mechagodzilla at the same time is just too much for any one kaiju to take down. A team as dangerous as the Muto pair, and much more lethal.
Fights were always unfair but he's gangsta and always came out on top
