- Godzilla goes to the National Institute of Informatics inside National Center of Sciences Building in Hitotsubashi and goes by kyoto and destroys the kyoto tower after destroying mechagodzilla and the army. And he tries to get his son but after little godzilla jr. sends out his s.o.s. eye signal godzilla leaves and heads back to the ocean.
The destruction scenes of all the Godzilla films are awesome

I love the new Monsterverse Godzilla movies, but they are missing these kind of awesome scenes. Don't get me wrong, I love the fights, but I would like the new movies to show the monsters just rampaging and destroying cities...... If that makes sense
yeah, I think the newer films don't really know how to do destruction scenes as well as the older films.

in the past, yeah the practical effects were way better than the CGI. but these days the CGI is so damn good its hard to face the fact that CGI godzillas like minus one, and even the legendary godzillas are just much cooler and endearing to look at.
(although I do really miss the goofy personality that showa era godzilla had)
a lot of beautiful and clear shots of humans and godzilla in the same frame. Hollywood gotta learn from this type of cinematography instead of just zooming in on the fights all the time, human pov is the key to godzilla movies imo.
One thing the monsterverse really needs more of. Sure, we got a taste of it in GVK, but so far none of it tops the destruction in the older films. I love coming back to these every once in a while.
True, and the main reason why a lot of the heisei godzilla films have great destruction scenes is because they based them off of some of the classic godzilla films. I think if the newer godzilla films based things off of the past godzilla films then there will be a really great godzilla film.
Similar to what I said in my Godzilla vs Gigan short film review. If you had not seen that yet I highly recommend it.

Minus One had me feeling like I was living it. I just want more realism. I want scenes that will make me feel there. I’m not a fan of the classics. Just doesn’t hit the realism part

@@OscarMartinez-pj8yc I also would say I prefer the suits more, but all the dangerous health risks and hazards are really scary ! So CGI is doing a pretty good job indeed putting more realism in the films!

京都は原爆投下のターゲットだったけど、ホワイトハウスの最終判断で免れたらしいので、核の申し子のゴジラも遺すべきものを遺したと解釈したいですね。

Not too many people know this but most Kaiju movies avoid wrecking Kyoto to avoid pissing off some extreme cultural hardliners that think Kyoto should still be the capital of Japan.

I like most of the monster fights in the Godzilla movies, but damn, it's these kind of scenes that made me fall in love with Godzilla as a kid (or scared the shit out of me). You just feel at Godzillas mercy, and you have the constant feeling that, no matter where you try to hide, he's seeing you. Perspective does a lot here. Shin Gojira also made a good job of capturing this uncanny feeling in a few scenes. Even today I sometimes dream of Godzilla towering above me while I try to hide, but in vain. Stupid, I know. ಠ ಠ
Lots of people who grew up on the Godzilla films probably have had at least one dream about that, I know I have.

Every Monsterverse film from now needs to have scenes like this one or a military vs Titan(s) that's as long as the classical 'military vs Kaiju(s)' scenes where we see the military throwing everything they've got at these massive beasts (yet, to no avail). And it can be any Titan. Doesn't have to be the King of the Monsters.
I agree, I wish they would have done that from the beginning. The only scene similar to that is a short scene in Godzilla 2014 at the bridge, which I think is the most memorable scene from the movie.
But I wish they took it farther than that. Hopefully whatever Godzilla films are next have more scenes like this.

I love the special effects and the camera angles used. Takao Okawara (Director), Koichi Kawakita (Special Effects), and Yoshinori Sekiguchi (Cinematography) really outdid themselves.
Koichi Kawakita is my favorite director for any category in the Godzilla franchise. He added so much to the Godzilla franchise. He made Godzilla have his consistent look from 1989 to 1995 while adding tons of new things to Godzilla that would inspire many Godzilla films in the future.
And he made Godzilla be more serious in fights and design, basing Godzilla's look on reptiles.
Also I really like the mix of real footage he used in his films, it makes Godzilla feel connected to the real world.
@@GSTE_ Very well said! I agree and the Heisei series has that special place in my heart. The ferociousness of Godzilla and his larger than life Atomic Breath (or Heat Ray!) His look was very powerful and Koichi Kawakita did a marvelous job showing it.

The Heisei era's iconic designs for the monsters shows with most of the Godzilla promotional material. With it mostly being the heisei version of the monsters. Like mothra, king ghidorah, or Godzilla.

As someone who hates KOTM and just didn’t find GVK entertaining,
I feel sad that they had traded what G14 brought to the table to basically try and be the new heisei saga,
If legendary kept hiring competent directors,The monsterverse probably could’ve been a masterpiece,
Kotm was 98% nostalgia bait and GvK had some here and there,it was alright but ehhhh.
Gareth edwards genuinely wanted to provide something original,and I hate how people disregard that just because “theres not enough monster scenes” even though godzilla has more screentime than he usually does,

Shows about popular characters who are usually in movies tend to flop,so I have low hopes for the series.
well personally I disagree, also I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to be like the heisei godzilla era since I think those films were pretty good, although some things like the fire godzilla being added and the nuclear pulse seemed to come from nowhere.
Also I think Godzilla vs Kong was a lot more creative than Godzilla 2014, although the 2021 godzilla vs kong film does have many problems, it has many incredible new things that no other godzilla film has.
Both Godzilla vs Kong 2021 and King Kong vs Godzilla 1962 had about 10 minutes of screen time for godzilla, which is about the same time as Godzilla 2014. And even godzilla king of the monsters had a few minutes less screen time for godzilla, and the same for the 1954 godzilla film which had about a minute less screen time for godzilla than in 2014.
So it's not much about the screen time and more about what they do with the screen time.
But thats just my opinion.

The kaiju’s and what they did in g14 had a sense of scale,everything they did had resulted in something,
And the sheer mystery surrounding these kaiju was what made it even better,
Had they tried to progressively build the world instead of just going “well guess what monarch actually has all of these kaiju stored and we know everything about them,don’t ask why we didn’t even exist in the last movie.” I think it could’ve turned out alot better.
@@oblivious4318 Well I agree with you about them instantly getting all the technology, I always had a problem with that.
I think that was one of the ways that copying the heisei era didn't work, because they forgot that the heisei godzilla films already had advanced technology, but they were only able to make a mechagodzilla after using the world's resources and scientists as well as future technology. And even after that Mechagodzilla still was very robotic in movement.
So I agree that it's very unrealistic.
But I guess that's what happens when three different people direct three different films and all have different visions for the series.
But also something important to remember is that most people as well as me, didn't like the monsters being from the people's perspective and not being able to see most of the fighting.

The scene where g14 slams femuto on the ground while obliterating her,the atomic breath scene and the one where hokmuto’s about to crash into a train are still stuck in my head,
When you see the kaiju directly from a humans POV you really think “man that things huge as shit,and so is the collateral damage it causes.”
And I honestly appreciate that,it gives some realism to the entire movie.

I agree, but I don't think they will do the suits for the films anymore. But you never know if they could bring it back.

コンビナートの合成は、爆発の照り返しが実景部分にも反映されるように作られててなかなか凝ってるんよな。
鈴鹿サーキットの旗や清水寺の木々がピクリともしないのは当時の技術の限界だった。
しかし翌年のvsスペースゴジラでは動くものに自動でマスクして合成する技術が出来上がっていて、あの頃はまさに日進月歩だった。
着ぐるみもラジコンで首を上下したり表情を変えられたりできるようになっていって、あれは一つの到達点だった。

I would like to see the size of heisei godzilla compared to a human
I loved this scene where Goji’s looking for Baby, and he doesn’t care if he’s gotta destroy the city to find him. Also, I liked the score after Godzilla turns away.
A slow motion frame rate would definitely have enhanced the sense of scale for the excellent practical effects. The explosions and debris are really good, it's only the speed of movement that gives away their miniature size.
I believe almost all the footage with Godzilla is slowed down a lot. In real time the explosions are really fast and the actor in the Godzilla suit is also moving really fast as well. There are some scenes in the film where they don't slow down Godzilla for a few seconds and basically it's like if you took the first clip and put it on 4x speed. There are behind the scenes clips that you can see this from.

Wow, need to re visit the hesei films. The FX and deliberate scenes of urban destruction were top notch here. I always appareciated it but being older and after working a lot in film I can see so much more now why these films special.

Hey!! Not the pagodas!! Those are works of art! Godzilla can destroy all the ugly concrete buildings, but he should leave the architectural art alone!
Some of the shots were a little questionable, but ultimately growing up watching these, it was these types of shots with both practical effects, composite real people running in the background and mixing them together that made it believable.
yeah I think having entirely animation, or entirely model sets make it feel less real. It's usually a mix of real and fake that makes something like this feel believable.

well it's most likely based a lot from Mothra vs Godzilla and the original mothra movie.

@@DarrellYoder1999 yeah, with Godzilla going into the city for his egg, similar to mothra going to the city for the mothra twins. And the editing style is very similar to the editing they did in Mothra vs Godzilla with having godzilla in the background of real footage. Also considering the Heisei films started doing this only after the Godzilla vs Mothra remake of the original makes that point even stronger.
Especially since Mothra vs Godzilla was one of the only showa godzilla films to have Godzilla edited into the background that much. Usually they used models or just showed people running away.

Okay, but there are times when I enjoy watching Goji being an enormous A- Hole...lol.
Such as : Godzilla hitting that hospital wing with that poor lady thinking she was safe in GMK : All Out Attack
In Minus -1 Godzilla walking by those reporters on the roof and after spotting them causes the building to collapse.
And for me the original Godzilla v Mothra, he was just being a jerk...lol.

And yet it doesn't show one human killed. Can't have the audience hating on Godzilla. He just destroys property; he really loves people ... right?
Well the film does say that Godzilla is a threat to humans and needs to be destroyed, but it's also shown that Godzilla was just there to find the baby godzilla, which the humans brought there from the island.
Godzilla doesn't like people, not this version at least. He's not there to destroy or help the people.
But the human's actions of taking Baby Godzilla brought Godzilla to the city twice, and also rodan.
So this film is more meant to have it more sympathetic towards Godzilla and the Humans as well since both are just trying to protect their own existence.

Has the best version of mecha Godzilla, the only version to almost kill Godzilla. It's also technically the third version not the second since in terror or mecha Godzilla they called the upgraded mecha Godzilla mecha g 2
true, but MechaGodzilla 1975 was technically the same mechagodzilla as in 1974. While MechaGodzilla 2 also known as Heisei MechaGodzilla or Super MechaGodzilla is the second version of MechaGodzilla.
The same goes for MechaGodzilla 3 or also known as Kiryu. Both versions from 2002 and 2003 would be called MechaGodzilla 3.
So it's mostly based on them being different MechaGodzillas from different series.
And also the film was called Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla 1993, but outside of Japan, people thought that name would be confusing so they made it MechaGodzilla 2. And the name stayed for multiple video games as well as DVD covers and promotion art.
So yes, technically you are right, but it's easier to think of it as MechaGodzilla 2, while the showa mechaGodzilla is just MechaGodzilla 1.

If you go off the alt time line that was created in Godzilla vs king Ghidorah which technically plays a lil into mecha g 2 but maybe a different mecha g without the future tech

The showa era is all mostly connected, The Heisei era Godzilla films are only connected to Godzilla 1954. Godzilla 2000 is only connected to 1954. And the same thing for the Godzilla films between 2000 and 2003.
Usually Showa MechaGodzilla 1974-1975 is called MechaGodzilla or MechaGodzilla 1.
MechaGodzilla 2 is the one from 1993, and Kiryu 2002-3 is called MechaGodzilla 3.
And I would say that MechaGodzilla 2021 is MechaGodzilla 4, although most people don't call him that.
Also MechaGodzilla wouldn't have been needed in the Heisei timeline. But because Godzilla was revived from the Anti Nuclear Energy Bacteria a Mecha was needed to stop him.
I think it was said that if the future people didn't interfere with Godzilla that everything would be normal and Godzilla would stay in the ocean.
But the future technology allowed them to beat Godzilla, although it was temporary, and allowed them to make Mechas in the first place.
Because before that they were only able to make flying aircrafts that didn't really work that well.
So going from that to having a giant moving robot needed some sort of reasonable explanation, unlike the 2021 MechaGodzilla where they suddenly have the technology.
So they were able to study a similar giant robot made hundreds of years in the future, and thus be able to create giant Mechas.

It's amazing how tall Godzilla kept getting in comparison to that white high rise every time they switched the shot.
well that's because the low angle as well as there probably being a hill, making Godzilla look taller the closer he is, but smaller the farther away he got.
It's a real model set with Godzilla there, so it's how it looked from the camera. You can see this when Godzilla is walking towards the Building, and when he is walking away from the building.

I hate that they went away from the 84 and 89 roar, this roar is so terrible lol
I personally like the roar used in this film, it resembles the classic Godzilla roar a lot more. I'm not really a fan of the 84-91 roar.
It sounds kind of weird to me like someone burping or something. It just doesn't fit Godzilla for me, but that's just my opinion.
As much as I appreciate the Monsterverse giving us a modern take and bringing in new fans, this is an essential ingredient to a Godzilla film. Him just walking around destroying what is on his path and there is nothing that humanity could do about it.
The matt work in the foreground with the camera guy is bad. I camera distorts and part disappears. I need to check my Blu-Ray to see if it's on there also.
yeah, but it like only a few frames that it moves around. But besides the camera guy's hair, they did a pretty good job with having the explosion reflect on the water, since the city footage in the background is real, but Godzilla and the explosion are edited in.
