Mine too Talita as well as as Bleak House amazing stories both of them acting second to none Bleak House so sad so exacting for the time it portrays . You have a very beautiful name dear Talita
People criticizing The Crown here have every right to do so of course. To each their own, but don't think it's boring at all. It's not about Elizabeth as much as it is about important historical events and the societal shift happening in Britain at the start of her reign. Queen Elizabeth has lived through many prime ministers and political events, which is why they have a lot of material to work with. The Crown and Peaky Blinders are the best period dramas on TV right now in my opinion.
I'd say it does depict British history but most of all it's about the actual crown and the weight it bears on the one who's head it falls on, e.g in this case George VI and Elizabeth II
actuaaly i would think many people turned it off after a little try at watching, th idea may have been ok, but the stories was so stupid , its a shame i would have loved to watch it if i could make any sense of it, but im afraid it was rubbish, nothing to do with the actors just the prick who wrote it
I absolutely love that you chose the 2006 version of Jane Eyre! It's my favorite period drama and the best adaption of the book, that I've ever seen. No other version could portray the chemistry between Rochester and Jane as well as this one did. I'm also happy that you included the great North and South (my second favorite period drama) and I really like your list in general (though I think that Downton Abbey is somewhat overrated. It's a nice show, but it often feels too much like a soap opera - then again, maybe that's one of the reasons, why so many people love it so much...).
My top 5 would be "Pride and Prejudice," "North and South," "The Duchess of Duke Street," "Downton Abbey," and "Call the Midwife." I really enjoyed this list though, and have watched almost everything on it! I love period pieces.
North and South cleans the floor with all of these. The Crown is great at suspense and making history and politics built of really personal, private moments. I think ultimately the Jane Eyre series was better than the 2011 movie. Peaky Blinders is frustratingly uneven and sometimes the stuff people do makes no damn sense as the plot skips forth too fast, but a lot of the characters are really fascinating and the family dynamics feel so real it's like these people are related irl. All added up together it doesn't hold in the Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones or Sons of Anarchy , etc. but at it's best it can be fantastic. There are many instantly iconic scenes. Y'all need to stop with Poldark. Ross sucks no matter how hard they try to make him not, and the show only holds up as a good drama when compared to Hallmark movie channel outings. It's like the "Nashville" of British TV. Like great if that's your thing, but let's not get carried away.
Lark Rise to Candleford was delightful and funny!! Downtown Abbey was a wonderful series I watched with my mom right before the movie was released! We were hooked!
No Victoria? I Claudius? (rights now with HBO), Poldark? The Tudors? Brideshead Revisited? Hornblower? The Way We Live Now? Deadwood? Bleak House? The House of Eliott? War and Peace?
Peaky Blinders is far too brilliant to be at number 5... It's not just a period drama, it's a masterpiece in all of its aspects... Should be in the top 3 at least
Call the midwife is number one for me. Every episode is magical, the characters are so well written and engaging, the cast is brilliant, costume spot on, writing and directing awesome, and they cover really important issues relevant both then and now such as the thalidomide devastations and the result of poverty. People write it off as just 'a jolly with babies' but honestly it's so gritty and honest that I cry with joy and sadness most episodes. And not to mention, the series is still going strong even after the original main character left!
I just started watching North and South and it is an amazing, beautiful, love story. Daniela and Richard do a superb job protraying Margaret Hale and John Thornton. I am hooked on this miniseries. I love stories like this 😍 ❤ 💕 💗 🤟🏾😊
Granted they can't mention them all but not even a wheeze for BRIDESHEAD REVISITED? Not even a mention in the comments? Utterly preposterous that it didn't receive a mention. I found the series, plus Jeremy Irons melodic voice, most agreeable.
The Tudors is my absolute favourite, Natalie Dormers performance as Anne Boleyn was perfection. Plus Henry VIII was actually interesting I don't really see the point of The Crown it's sooooo boring Queen Elizabeth II has never done or faced anything interesting got to be the most boring Monarch there is she don't do anything, now a TV series on Elizabeth I would be epic.
Rihanna And Little Mix I'm sure she would have loved to herald a great crusade across the East or at the very least destroyed an armada of sorts and I'm sure everyone else would have been rather accepting of such acts. What do you mean she's boring?
spirit wolf she is boring. There's been lots of big problems since she's been queen alright nothing as big as an armada etc but there's been stuff and she hasn't done shit all she does is wave at the public she's useless.
The Kings and Queens of old were an interesting lot because they had true power back then. The monarchy of today is just for show. They don’t do anything and don’t really rule, hence why Elizabeth II is boring.
@@_Moonlit_ Shows how very little you know about our Queen .She has dedicated her whole life to public service ,May be boring to you,but she is a great age and still working Albeit not at moment because of the Virus . I just binge watched The House of Eliott and loved it ... except for the bizarre cliff hanger ending and the fact Season 3 Episode 8 was missing from the play list ... why on earth was that series cancelled ... ? Is there a sequel?
Love North and South. My favorite. Pride and Prejudice also great! They didn’t mentioned Victoria series. I hope they give it another season. But it was wonderful too! Enjoyed Lark Rise to Candleford. Poldark was good. Did you know that Richard Armitage and Adrian Turner were both in the Hobbit? Both great actors!
Danstarr69 I've seen vikings and youre right, its a quality show, but the visuals on Peaky Blinders, the soundtrack, the acting that all complement the brilliant writing, are what make it, in my opinion, the best show on tv
Speaking for myself here I really like Victoria, I'm kinda disappointed it wasn't included (why was that scene from it in the beginning though?) Also the BBC miniseries War & Peace would be worth mentioning. Or The Musketeers.
What about the BBC's version of I, Claudius. Good to see Wolf Hall on the list. The BBC has done thousands of period drama's going back to the seventies
1983 Jane Eyre with Zelah Clark and Timothy Dalton is much better than the 2006 version. The 1983 version is closest to the novel. The leading roles performance, TD's in particular, is masterful.
Where the fuck is the Tudors?! That's the best. The Crown is beyond boring, what was the point of making it what has Queen Elizabeth ever actually done?! Also Poldark deserved an actual spot on the list.
Fandom Central A bit of an advice :) I'll say The Crown is for people who loves the Royal family, who loves music of all kinds because that series has one (1) of the most beautiful soundtracks, and people who particularly love History or love to see what had happened long ago for various reasons or, you can not be that type of person or anywhere close to it and still it can be possible to like The Crown. It just depends on the individual :) your opinion can't speak for the mass majority it is a very well done series in all the catefory.
You put shitty and boring The Crown on the list but not The Tudors and Poldark!!! (Yes I know Poldark was an HM but it deserved to actually be on the list!)
@MrSquifler Not just that, the starry eyed hero worship of the main character is exhausting and the two dimensional villainry of his nemesis is eye rolling. It's like the least complex British period drama made in the last 10 years.
Jackie M that's what happens in the book Demelza is meant to be like that but as the series goes on she becomes less like that, it's called character development.
Downton Abbey was Great until season 3. Unfortunately after all ideas from the show beginning came to a conclusion there was almost no story left for the remaining seasons.
JNSSS Season three was at it’s Highest point and it did drop a bit in Season four, but it rose again by the time we got to Season five and there were still so many good storylines!

North & South is so good.
i agree with you 100 %
I realize I'm pretty off topic but do anyone know a good website to stream newly released series online ?
@Jamie Allen I use flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Seth Royal definitely, been using FlixZone for months myself =)
@Seth Royal Thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I appreciate it!!
North and South is my absolute favourite!!! Poldark and Downton Abbey are great as well.
Mine as well. We just visited Elizabeth Gaskell's house in Manchester and it was amazing.

Love all recomendations in comment section, KEEP THEM COMING...can't wait to binge them all during this self isolation time
I love North n South, Pride n Prejudice, Jane Eyre. I rewatch them many times. Thank you for your review, I will watch other films as on your list.

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite!

Where was The White Queen and Victoria!?

I love North & South and Jane Eyre!💕🥰
Yes! North & South made it to no. 3! Its my most favorite!
Poldark and Call the Midwife and Victoria needed their own spots on this list.

I think they were just doing British shows but yeah Deadwood should win everything ever.
Wow, no Victoria?!!!
Jamie Wilde Yeah Ikr
Absolutely LOVE North & South. Richard Armitage is gorgeous 😍
No mentions for Heartbeat, Taboo, or The Tudors?.
And what about Rome? That was done by the BBC and HBO.
Wasn't Heartbeat ITV?
Loved the Tudors
Nothing for The Tudors? Not even an honourable mention? Nothing? Zip? Wow!
reshabriella I can see why ‘The Tudors’ didn’t make this list as it took so many liberties with the facts. ‘Poldark’ now that’s a good question!
North&South! Great mini series! Big, big minus point for WatchMojoUK: You pronounced Richard Armitage wrong!!!!
