I was pissed at the fact Ross essentially raped Elizabeth. She tried to resist Ross but when he started kissing her she loved him so much she couldn't stop him. But no where in the series did he ever think to himself Hey that could be my child. Elizabeth lost her life I know I am reading too much into it. This so bugs me when men get away with debauchery and even adultery. For all of Ross's declarations of true and abiding love it still doesn't negate the fact that he cheated on Demelza . Nothing can. Period! He even goes as far as to say that it through having cheated with Elizabeth, he realises his true love is Demelza. Really! What will she do with his 'true love' ? Every time she will be reminded of how it came to be realised. After her efforts, love and devotion , this is what she gets. When does it stop? When will women realise that her self respect, her pride is worth more than pretty words and sorry notes. It is a shame that relationships like these are still romanticized
I could never be with a man who cheated on me. No matter how much I love him or how much he says he loves me. My faith would be gone and what is love with out faith? I could never trust again. Maybe some can, some do, but I know with out a doubt I could not.
I think maybe they both are more forgiving of the other because their meeting was kinda happenstance, there marriage was kinda of an arrangement and their falling in love and their life together was kinda a surprise to both of them! In a conventional courtship I don't think either one would have been so forgiving! But I still see your point!
Truly I agree but would dissent on another matter. That is, two wrongs don't make a right. Had Demelza stayed true and faithful, perhaps I would share your sentiments wholely. Ross was the only one at fault. Besides the short tryst Demelza had with Capt. McNeil, she was blameless. However,I must agree that this other affair with Sir Hugh gave depth to her character. Demelza is still human, and given that she only ever knew one man as her lover, the true affections of Sir Hugh caught her off guard. Another man,who saw her and only her as the love of his life. A beautiful story truly
Just finished watching Poldark and I loved it. Demelza is my favourite as her spirit and growth is truly something to be admired. As well as were ability to see the goodness and heart in things. Demelza singing at the Christmas party simply moved my heart
This show was amazing .. ending a bit of a let down but the chemistry was astronomical. Stumbled upon this on Amazon video and it was captivating. Binged it in a few days as I work from home now. Didn’t think I would find a show that could give a better performance and story than Outlander but I think this ranks higher for me
eh, Ross deserved this one by a mile. Him stepping out on Demelza because it was "just something he couldn't explain" and " what can I say" - yaaah naaaw, buddy. That just ain't flying too well.
That last ever seen of ross and demelza saying good byes on the cliff must have been hard for these great actors ,he had tears in his eyes loved poldark so much beautifully done thank to every one for bringing this to our screens .
Watching this after outlander and I can’t take it! Jamie and Claire went through plenty of trials but they didn’t cheat on each other, it’s hard to root for Ross and Demelza knowing that 😞
I get where you are coming from, but sometimes love is complicated and to come back from what Demelza and Ross went through as a couple, is truly something. I think that Jamie is a more upstanding character than Ross, though, for sure. Less selfish.
I absolutely love this series its beautiful and I hope there could be more more. The characters are brilliant and I love Ross and Demelza. It's shows the joining of the true love they have for each other. Just love it 👏
They've been through so much things together and Demelza, she is one of the strongest female heroines in the world for me i adore both her and Eleanor Tomlinson, i will miss this show 😔❤
Right? Season 1 was SO GOOD. The last ep kills me every time. Aidan and Eleanor's acting was incredible. And then ross cheated and then they introduced another love interest for demelza and that pretty much killed my interest in the show. Caroline and dwight were great until the end though 😁
@@madisonwhovian943 that’s how I’m feeling right now.. I just finished season 3 and I honestly don’t know if I can start the fourth. I’m so distraught over their marriage 😭
It just kills me that it wasn't just in the heat of the moment impulse. Demelza literally stood in his way begging him not to go all the while he knew what he was doing..."it was just a mistake...". However, I stuck with the series and still enjoyed it. even through all the struggles.
This series has been incredible to watch, however, I did buy the DVD's to watch again whenever I like, I sincerely hope in a few years they'll return to finish the final books--"THANKYOU" to all involved in making such an amazing series--will truly miss you❤️💞
The scene where she says to Ross at the mine, 'I belong here. .......I belong here.' Truly felt as if she had finally found home with Ross at Nampara, and she knew it. It would ALWAYS be home from that moment.
I wish it was in the Hobbit Aidan as Kili and Eleanor as Tauriel I mean Evangeline Lilly did a great job as Tauriel but I could see Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson as a great fantasy chemistry.
This series was really good. However, the finale almost seemed like a parody. Having Ross pretend to be having an affair ONCE AGAIN seemed to be really out of character, and Demelza forgiving him felt way too fast. I don’t think Ross has ever listened to Demelza; he just does whatever he feels like with no respect for her. Gosh I feel so bad for Demelza but she is still such a strong character. I loved her, and Eleanor played her beautifully
JimboParadox I can see Ross missing her a lot since he thought about her so much in America, but I couldn’t understand how he would expect Demelza to listen to him about why he cheated
@JimboParadox ross and george were both in love with elizabeth since they were in school. they grew up together. when he came back from war she was just engaged to his cousin not yet married. it was a shock to him that she did not o anything and him being prideful didn't do anything to stop her either. he didn't fall in love with demelza instantly - he was mending his wounds with her. she was a rebound for a long while. idk the long burning candle is a bit over the top to me too. i think the cheating on delemza's part NEEDED to happen. she was already a broken women and she needed to get hers. for more than one reason. i for one am glad thy included it. it's more realistic that way. and ross cheating started it all. though i do kind of understand where he was coming from too. people are selfish. the last season though - idk it was so forced and with no real satisfaction to it. and demelza deserved more.
JimboParadox I understand what you’re saying now that you’ve mapped out the timeline better. I guess it’s the Grand Power of the First Love that pulled Ross in… who knows. Demelza is one of the most kindhearted people in the show-if not THE kindest person-and Ross just forgets about that and wants Elizabeth… which I guess shows that he wasn’t completely satisfied with what Demelza could give him. He, like so many other men, is incredibly stupid.
Just watched this again today 10/26/20 Ross that last look back at Demelza..leaving with coat flying in the wind to the crescendo drumbeat of the music ! Epic !never gets old!
I hated this ending. Ross goes to France to do know what? LeaviNg Demelza with two kids, a farm, a mine and another pregnancy. Really annoying and not what makes sense. very disappointed.
The script had many holes and nonsense. In season 5 Demelza had said the two worse sentences of the show: when she said that she went Ross's bed because he was a honourable man and she was sure he married her and when she had pity for Tess because “Ross had misused her“. Tess's character was the worst writen if I compare the five seasons.
@@mariacacho3176 the writer delebrarly screwed her up!! They wanted her to be more modern thinking . Even though in the book she does get the impression as the show they are going to marry after they bed. I think she thought far to much of Ross's character and morals. And in reality the show he was better because he married her right away. In the book they wait till she is 18 on the dot. But she never word have said she didn't in purpose as if she thought about it that way . She did it out of passion and longing and the feeling he would indeed take care of her.

I watched this show because I was so obsessed with Ross and Demelza. Their chemistry is just insane. But after he cheated on her, I couldn’t really watch the show. The beauty I saw in their relationship was gone, and I never had respect for Ross after that.
That dialogue in that last scene was really weird, but it doesn’t taint what a great love story this is and especially what wonderful chemistry these two actors have. Thank you for the video.
With all the hurt the cheating and everythjng else, i still loved their love story so much, it felt as if they were bound to each other with everyone else eeeing it except for them, it took them time to realise it hut they arrived there evetually
the cheating was in the books trials and tribulations that they overcame them doesn't kill their love but makes it complex not a fairytale romance very realistic in that time period I love them as a couple
Ross and Demelza, such a great couple,so much realistic and the love they have for each other. This is basically the reality, that's why we get pissed at them sometimes, these TV shows deserve so much awards. Im an Asian, there are lots of Asian movies and tv shows out there, but a very few realistic ones. Maybe that's why i have so much appreciations towards these.
I hated the ending, what kind of ending was that for such an amazing love story. He walks off to a boat to become a spy, she is pregnant...and that's it! There is no closure.
pixiegirl1492 The book series goes on for many more years, starting 10 years after Elizabeth’s death. The whole 5th season is not part of the original, so screenwriters wound it up as such.
I just finished watching this the second time. Now I want to watch it again!! Aidan & Eleanor - Brilliant acting & Chemistry. I Love how Ross is so real , he’s perfect yet flawed. I wish there were more seasons or atleast a full length film ! 💜💜💜
We never want a good story to End !!! but it would be great if it started to taper away ...and leave us to finish the ending in our own minds.. but lets not forget ..Georges baby is a Poldark ...so there's a few episodes to be continued just on that premise. Fingers crossed .
@@marialaing7130 Can i ask wich is the new word ? :) The story between Ross and Demelza is so unconventional, their love grew with them, we are used to "the magical and unrealistic love" such as Ross and Elizabeth, and Ross realizing day after day how his love for Demelza evolved is something i never seen in a Period Drama. I'm satisfied with the way bbc has realized an "imperfect woman" such as Demelza, to be our Lady Hero: a real stubborn woman, with her weakness and flaws... the path of her forgiveness to Ross, her love for another man.... everything was so veridic :D
Veronica Avila Honores the word ‘veridic’ was one I didn’t know. I just corrected my comment because auto-correct had changed it to verification. 😖😊😊😊😊
@JimboParadox I also think that, kinda, not everything need to be done "that" way, I do believe - the cheating- it's more for television audiences than a real and proper plot. In this case I admit it's cheap, i am agree. I was so disappointed by their behavior and lack of complicity but in the process I feel it was at last original for being a PERIOD DRAMA: if we are looking at a romantic scenario I appreciated that they were "ruining it" as two simple humans beings. I liked that, for those episode I was disillusioned from a fiction and I liked, they were only humans, of course I get happy when they came bake as Our Ross and Demelza :), but, again, I am content for the way BBC has portraited Those two Lovers.
well, divorce wasn't a thing so they kind of had to just work it out. It's amazing what people can do when they have no other choice. While it's good that divorce exists for those times when relationships are beyond saving, I do think far too many people use it to avoid self-improvement.
The scene where Demelza enters the party at the Poldark mansion is one that makes you draw a deep breath. You know from that moment that she is someone rare.
I'm so sad it's over. But maybe it's for the best. I don't want to see their love being ruined just to keep the show going. Anyways, thanks to everyone who worked on the show. It has a special place in my heart
@@ellieg40 really? I will read the books then. Tv shows tend to ruin characters and relationships just to get new content to keep the show going. I could not bear to see that happen to their wonderful love.
@JimboParadox Not defending what she did, but it came at a time when Ross had recently told her on more than one occasion to go look elsewhere (to get her needs met, if she should desire). Not in those exact words, but pretty close. And Ross was in the wrong and being unreasonable every time. It was only a matter of time.
That was a great summary of their exiting and changeable life. I think I have to start with session 1 of my DVD set, because I miss all the great character of this series! Still hope their will be a continuation, with the same actors,of course!

Season 1 of Demelza and Ross was so beautifully captivating! When season 2 came around, I was shocked to see Ross suddenly grow so indifferent to Demelza, which eventually led to his affair with Elizabeth. Ross was lucky that Demelza decided to stay with him after that. You would think he would have a change in character regarding his treatment towards her, but he was still a jerk to her after the incident. When season 3 came along and Ross was still neglectful, which I think since Demelza had no previous love experience, and Ross was her first love and first lover, he took that for granted. When Hugh Armitage came along I was happy to see someone see the true value of Demelza. I wanted them to be together in the end and I believe if she didnt have any children with Ross she would have left him after finding out he again cheated on her with Elizabeth. I rooted for Demelza and Hugh and Im glad they had their moment of love. Demelza was able to be another person just for a day as she had confessed to Ross.
Wait what? He cheated on her again with Elizabeth? You mean the incident in the church when Ross ran into Elizabeth regarding visiting Agatha's grave? I didn't take him kissing Elizabeth in the MO (Modus Operandi) of cheating on Demelza. Rather he kissed Elizabeth in the form of care only. Not lust or love as such. But a care that one has for a sibling. Ross already knew that he no longer loved Elizabeth in the way he did before he went off to the war. He loved Elizabeth differently and also differently to where he knew the he and Elizabeth would never have been happy long-term. Because Elizabeth is essentially high maintenance. Demelza was one to "to dirty her hands" which is what he needed, wanted and one of many things he loved about Demelza - as he later realized. Can you picture Miss Goody-Two-Shoe Elizabeth installed in Nampara working her rear bumper off and tend to the daily responsibilities there? She was not one to "break a nail" or "chip her nailpolish" (as we would put it in today's terms). Demelza was down to earth and did what it takes. Mind you Ross and Elizabeth would have lived at Trenwith, but Ross never got his nose too high to where it rained into it when it came to working and bringing home the bacon. Now was his nose rather too high when it came to Elizabeth vs Demelza? I'd say it was. He was an arrogant little prick at that. But Demelza had her say when she didn't loose her pride, but lost her pride in HIM. (Man, that was such a classic statement) - and then again he got a taste of his own medicine when Hugh Armitage appeared in the picture.

Didn’t think I would find a show that could give a better performance and story than Outlander but I think this ranks higher for me
I agree!
Lovely video.
It also gets me that Hugh appreciates Ross saving his life so much that he actively pursues his wife. Now that is gratitude.
😂😂😂😂😂
LKKKKKĶKĶKK
eh, Ross deserved this one by a mile. Him stepping out on Demelza because it was "just something he couldn't explain" and " what can I say" - yaaah naaaw, buddy. That just ain't flying too well.
two beautiful actors giving us a romantic beautiful story....
That last ever seen of ross and demelza saying good byes on the cliff must have been hard for these great actors ,he had tears in his eyes loved poldark so much beautifully done thank to every one for bringing this to our screens .
Loved Poldark but watched it after watching Outlander and all I kept shouting at the screen was “Jamie Fraser could never”!!!
Watching this after outlander and I can’t take it! Jamie and Claire went through plenty of trials but they didn’t cheat on each other, it’s hard to root for Ross and Demelza knowing that 😞
I’ve watched outlander almost through and I’ve watched only this of poldark and I’ve said the same thing!!
I get where you are coming from, but sometimes love is complicated and to come back from what Demelza and Ross went through as a couple, is truly something. I think that Jamie is a more upstanding character than Ross, though, for sure. Less selfish.
Truly excellent series that beautifully & powerfully differentiates between imperfect love vs idealized love.
Idealized love
I absolutely love this series its beautiful and I hope there could be more more. The characters are brilliant and I love Ross and Demelza. It's shows the joining of the true love they have for each other. Just love it 👏
They've been through so much things together and Demelza, she is one of the strongest female heroines in the world for me i adore both her and Eleanor Tomlinson, i will miss this show 😔❤
season 1 romelza was my otp....until he cheated
I tried to watch after season 2 but the magic was already ruined and ended up dropping it.
Same
The best show, the best actors...We love Ross and Demelza
This series has been incredible to watch, however, I did buy the DVD's to watch again whenever I like, I sincerely hope in a few years they'll return to finish the final books--"THANKYOU" to all involved in making such an amazing series--will truly miss you❤️💞
make one for caroline and dwight, i'll pay you 20 bucks
Simply the best come back soon!
And lots of Horrace!
Morwenna and Drake too❤❤
And Geoffrey Charles and Cecily too
The entire gang will return because Karen Thrussel has hinted that there will be a feature film continueing Poldarks adventures already.
Their love story is so inspiring I could hardly bare for this show to end.
Beautiful, romantic and as epic as the Cornish coast and weather!
I would love to see a supercut of George Warleggen's emotional journey, too.
The scene where she says to Ross at the mine, 'I belong here. .......I belong here.' Truly felt as if she had finally found home with Ross at Nampara, and she knew it. It would ALWAYS be home from that moment.
Aidan and Eleanor should appear together in another venue - they're magical!!!
So very true they act really well together
I wish it was in the Hobbit Aidan as Kili and Eleanor as Tauriel I mean Evangeline Lilly did a great job as Tauriel but I could see Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson as a great fantasy chemistry.
James Bond and Moneypenny
This series was really good. However, the finale almost seemed like a parody. Having Ross pretend to be having an affair ONCE AGAIN seemed to be really out of character, and Demelza forgiving him felt way too fast. I don’t think Ross has ever listened to Demelza; he just does whatever he feels like with no respect for her. Gosh I feel so bad for Demelza but she is still such a strong character. I loved her, and Eleanor played her beautifully
yup my thoughts too
JimboParadox I can see Ross missing her a lot since he thought about her so much in America, but I couldn’t understand how he would expect Demelza to listen to him about why he cheated
I think that he thought about her when he made his choices but was rational in his making choices prosses and that's why he is admirable
This show. The acting. The story. Incredible
Agree!
Yes❤❤❤
Impressive and fantastic love story. Very very well played.

Beautiful love story! I miss them already 😭 fingers crossed they will come back eventually for S6
I hope Eleanor and Aidan come back and do more Poldark in the near future!!
HE IS BUSY WITH CAITLIN NOW NO MORE ELEANOR HE WAS GOING WITH TILL CAITLIN MOVED IN
Yes a movie would be wonderful!

This cannot end like this! We need another season of Poldark pllleeeeeeaaaaasssssseeeee.....
I will miss Poldark and Romelza. I llove them. Thanks to Eleanor Tomlinson and Aidan Turner.
THEY BELONG TOGETHER GREAT COUPLE

Oh man, I going to miss this show so much 😭
Ross and Demelza were evenly matched!!
I watched this show because I was so obsessed with Ross and Demelza. Their chemistry is just insane. But after he cheated on her, I couldn’t really watch the show. The beauty I saw in their relationship was gone, and I never had respect for Ross after that.
We need more such amazing TV shows and books and life stories and societies.
That dialogue in that last scene was really weird, but it doesn’t taint what a great love story this is and especially what wonderful chemistry these two actors have. Thank you for the video.
I believe it was ment to lead to other possible shows or movies
It was actually adapted from a speech Demelza made in the books. So blame those I guess XD
With all the hurt the cheating and everythjng else, i still loved their love story so much, it felt as if they were bound to each other with everyone else eeeing it except for them, it took them time to realise it hut they arrived there evetually
the cheating was in the books
trials and tribulations that they overcame them
doesn't kill their love but makes it complex
not a fairytale romance
very realistic in that time period
I love them as a couple
Loved this show, one of my all time favs. Wish it had more seasons ❤️
This was a beautiful montage of some of the best scenes in the series!
If you'd read the books, the very end of Season 5 allows for future shows. Its was very well done...if you knew the books, you'd know why.
Read the books!! 1000%better
@@kathrynhighlander9893 so agree!!
That’s the reason I thought the series hadn’t finished . Thanks
Poldark, Medici and Victoria are forever my addictions
THE BEST OF THE BEST🤧❤️Ross and Demelza🔥
Thank you for this video, BBC🙏🏻
Love the romance between Ross and Demelza💕
They are forever the best couple 😍😍
I just finished watching this the second time. Now I want to watch it again!! Aidan & Eleanor - Brilliant acting & Chemistry. I Love how Ross is so real , he’s perfect yet flawed. I wish there were more seasons or atleast a full length film ! 💜💜💜
We never want a good story to End !!! but it would be great if it started to taper away ...and leave us to finish the ending in our own minds.. but lets not forget ..Georges baby is a Poldark ...so there's a few episodes to be continued just on that premise. Fingers crossed .
Was Aidan best work.
I just found Poldark 2 weeks ago and finished it yesterday. I hope they add to the seasons.
How is the biggest turn in their relationship - when Ross realises his feelings for Demelza - not in this?? The singing at the Christmas party!!
I completely forgot how heartbreaking this series was 💔💔💔
Demelza went through so much
I've literally just finished all of Poldark and now I'm watching my favourite couple and feeling too many feels😢
thank you BBC for portrait one of the best and veridic love story on tv !!!!
Veronica Avila Honores I had to look up veridic. Thank you for teaching me a new word. ... and I agree! 🥰🤗💝
@@marialaing7130 Can i ask wich is the new word ? :)
The story between Ross and Demelza is so unconventional, their love grew with them, we are used to "the magical and unrealistic love" such as Ross and Elizabeth, and Ross realizing day after day how his love for Demelza evolved is something i never seen in a Period Drama.
@@veronicaavilahonores6504
it was in the novels any way
it was also in the 1970s series
the cheating was important parts of the novels
We want a season 6 the program was so good
I feel like those last words were put in deliberately, for the audience, they will be back
Karen Thrussel has hinted on a full length feature film continueing Poldarks adventures already on CornwallLive.
Their marriage is incredible, the strength they have. How are they still together?
well, divorce wasn't a thing so they kind of had to just work it out. It's amazing what people can do when they have no other choice. While it's good that divorce exists for those times when relationships are beyond saving, I do think far too many people use it to avoid self-improvement.
Sophie Jones Hm, I never looked it that way.
The scene where Demelza enters the party at the Poldark mansion is one that makes you draw a deep breath. You know from that moment that she is someone rare.
I need Poldark to come back!! I need season 6!
Come on Masterpiece. Give us a Poldark movie already.
How about 6 more series? There are enough unfilmed books left!
watching part of poldark again i understand why he was so popular and why i liked his acting and his adorable looks but why he did not remain so
Love can survive anything but not betrayal. It can never be the way it was before, no way
I'm so sad it's over. But maybe it's for the best. I don't want to see their love being ruined just to keep the show going. Anyways, thanks to everyone who worked on the show. It has a special place in my heart
in the books, R & D's love goes on and on
@@ellieg40 really? I will read the books then. Tv shows tend to ruin characters and relationships just to get new content to keep the show going. I could not bear to see that happen to their wonderful love.
@@l.l3081 They remain together in the books thought the years. They had good andbad times as everybody but always together.
Read the books Jimbo.
I miss this show so much.
That was a great summary of their exiting and changeable life. I think I have to start with session 1 of my DVD set, because I miss all the great character of this series! Still hope their will be a continuation, with the same actors,of course!
a love like this is all we could hope for in life
The more I admire Demelza the more I hate Elizabeth. She is too materialistic, selfish and above all she is not as beautiful as Demelza!
She's not even in the same realm of beauty and excellence. Ross was a moron beyond belief.
Alright okay i love Poldark so damn much. Im going to buy the bloody books. Om my my my. I l love this show and always will
I think tons of people going to do it and did that.
Extraordinaire Demelza👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 qu'elle actrice , elle fait tout briller autour d'elle 💕quel talent 👏👏👏👏

Women's logic😂🤣🤣🤣
@@Chatterjee995 okay?
Now bbc is making their own fan edits 😂😂
Love it enjoyed it watched it twice xx

Dammit man why any legendary show has to come to an end
Watched the series absolutely brilliant .Better than the one I watched in the 1970s .
First 2 or 3 seasons were gold.
