you forgot one of the philosophies of the city: that "culture is not just for people with money" - the zoo is free, the muni opera and the symphany all have free seats in the back of the house.

I don't see St Louis as my overall favorite city, but it seemed to offer a good quality of life. Not very glamorous on paper but most can design any life they want.
My biggest negative is the lack of regional growth strategy and concentrated poverty. Biggest pro is you get a lot of big city amenities without the hassle or cost of many other places.

I've lived in Camdenton Missouri my whole life. Love Lake of the Ozarks. I used to go to marching band competitions in St.Louis at the Edward Jones dome. Always loved going up there.

Any resident from any city in the US would say that their city sucks. I have lived in Miami for 20 years and this shit is so expensive, if you don't make 6 figures you will live paycheck to paycheck if you are single. I am moving to MO cuz rent in that state is like $800 for a studio in a luxury building. Here in Miami the same studio costs $2000

I’ve lived in St Louis many years. The summer weather is horrible- very hot. The restaurants and many cultural amenities- such as the symphony, museums and sports are excellent. Traffic problems are very few. I always hear about crime but have NEVER had a problem myself.

Lived there for eight years in the late 80s/early 90s. Overall very enjoyable but so ridiculously hot in the summer. Like “don’t go out” hot. Winter is for sure punctuated by frequent ice storms and miserable cold stretches.

Yeah, have lived in St. Louis my whole life & haven’t found a place where summers are as hot/humid & miserable as St. Louis. I remain fully indoors in the summer & only go out if I HAVE to. That’s one of the reasons I’ll be retiring elsewhere (likely in/near the mountains) just as soon as I wind-up my career. But, this gentleman is correct about his assessment of St. Louis…it really DOES have a lot to offer and most of us live in the surrounding counties of St. Louis proper as the area is definitely spread-out.

I just drove across America these past three days and I remember St Louis as a really nice looking city similar to the charm and design of Boston Massachusetts. Was just curious of how living there is.

I am alomst 70 and have always lived here. I also went to UMSL many years ago. Very good education there without the big tuition. I agree with most you said. I worked many years with a very good brokerage called A.G. Edwards now part of Wells Fargo. I would say the winters are much milder than the North. The St. Louis region has really spread out in my lifetime beyond St. Louis county but grew up in the Southhampon neighborhood of the city. It is all abour risk tolerance to crime and watching the 10:00 News is like getting the daily crime report. There are good neighborhoods still in the city but just close to very poor areas riddled with crime (car jacking, stolen cars, broken windows, drive by shooting, teens walking streets with AR-15s) giving them risk as well but like said this is in common with most cities in the U.S.. I only seem to visit the city for Cardinals and Blues games. Soccer is big here thanks to the owners of Enterpsrse and others privately building the new stadium. Many years of Catholic youth leage soccer and now the largest Bosnian immigration in the U.S. help make it so. St. Louis got a bum rap when St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kronke preferred the large TV market of L.A. over a new downtown stadium St. Louis was prepared to build. The subject of Stan Kroenke unifies the people of St. Louis.

I would recommend anyone who wants to move to Saint Louis to actually move to any of the suburbs west of the city limits. Definitely not any part of Metro East.

We are moving over there in October because my husband got a job offer. We were actually there in 2020 during covid so we didn’t really experience all of the festivals or the nice cool restaurants in St. Louis. I would like to know more about the top schools and districts, we have a 5 year old son. We plan to live in St. Louis county Mo so hopefully we love living there.

I hope to do a video on local schools/districts at some point, but in the meantime, shoot me an email and we can send you some info! Hey@LivingInStLouis.com
