Just did my first test recording. Both phones were in landscape mode, but on the host phone guest number one showed in portrait on the preview and then during the final recording in the edit studio, the host was defaulted to portrait mode, while the guest was correct in landscape mode. What’s the problem? Thank you.

If it's on iPhone and the orientation is locked in the control center, it will record in portrait regardless of the physical orientation of the phone. Sorry about that!

@@Riversidefm Amazing, that is EXACTLY what was happening. Didn't even know that feature existed. And now that I know, WTF does it exist at all? That's Rhetorical. Moving on to the editing and exporting steps now. Thanks Riverside team.

I have a question. I was trying to record my podcast yesterday with a guest from out of state. I could hear her but she could not hear me. How to correct this problem? I have more guests I am going to interview from out of state in the next couple of weeks.

how long does the upload take on a 4K video that is 30 minutes? this could be a possible issue when interviewing important guest that dont have the time to wait around for it to upload. So curious on the time. Many thanks!!

It all depends on internet speeds, but Riverside uploads throughout a recording. So when I do an hour long podcast, it usually only takes 1-2 minutes to finish once we stop recording.

Why must the guests actually download the App? Can they not join on the web like it is on Spotify for podcasters? I mean they probably won’t even need to use Riverside again after the episode recording.
I see this being such a daunting challenge for guests who just couldn’t be bothered to go to great lengths to be part of a podcast. 😢

If your guests are on a laptop or desktop, they do not need to download the app! They can tune in via their web browser. The mobile app is only needed for those tuning in with an iPhone, iPad or Android device.

@@Riversidefm Ohh! That makes so much sense and thank you for this timely response because I was freaking out! 😅

If guests join from iOS app can they use whatever camera quality their phone is capable of or do they have to make an account and pay to get access to 4k camera quality?

    • @Riversidefm

If you have a Pro plan with Riverside and send a guest link, someone joining will be recorded in 4K quality through the app even without signing in!

I am setting up a vod/podcast where the guest user will actually be cohost for the production. Them logging in as a guest is fine, but I'm trying to figure out how to set things up so that they are using their rear facing camera on their iPhone for 4K video capture such that they can still SEE themselves and cohost/participants on a screen. How can this be accomplished? We want to use the best camera option, but want to see and engage with one another just as we would on a FaceTime or Webex meeting bridge. They also have macbook and iPad. I was hoping that we could use two video recording devices for different angles during the calling session, but I haven't yet figured out the "guest" or cohost experience. Please advise.

You *can* use Continuity Camera with a Mac to utilize the back camera while still viewing the guests in studio. Otherwise, if there are more devices available you can add them to the recording, but mute their speaker so they don't give any feedback, and your guests can view the others there.

Riverside was working perfectly until a few weeks ago. Now, when my guests try to join the studio on their phone, Riverside has them in a closed loop!!! It doesn't work anymore!!! They get stuck on a screen and can't go past it. Is there a solution?

Have you reached out to support? They can take a look at what's going on. There's a live chat option in your Riverside dashboard too

This sounds ridiculously complicated. I’ll stick with recording in Zoom because it’s easy and convenient for my guests. I’ll edit in Audacity. This Riverside tutorial is 5x longer than Zoom and Audacity tutorials combined.
I wish Spotify never partnered with Riverside. No offense.

This video was specifically focused on mobile, but I would recommend checking out our short walkthrough. On a computer it's even easier, with no applications to download, and it's much high quality than Zoom: th-cam.com/video/a-vYanD7jP8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CRQEJtAbyLtiUf8H
