Reminds me of this story I saw on FB about this woman who bought a house next to a creek. Her property was next to a park but there was a clear boundary. In the summer, she saw entire families of people entering her property and using her section of the creek. They were loud, they got drunk and left trash behind. When she asked them to stay off her property they acted the same way and spouted the same trash: “This is OUR park!” “The previous owner let us use it!” and essentially trashed her name on some online group saying she was mean and yelled at them and threatened them. Even the city government was like “Just let them use it, what’s the big deal?”
Like, it’s HER land. SHE gets to decide who’s allowed on it. This woman is living a nightmare and no one is on her side. She just wanted to enjoy her property. Everyone is fine trespassing and not listening to her, but if a kid ever gets hurt or something bad happens…she’ll be the first one sued because it happened on her property. I would be putting up CCTV, NO TRESPASSING signs, and an electric fence. Take no prisoners.

Honestly the first time my dad dropped me off, when I was just dating my husband, dad asked me if that guy ever wore any clothes😂!!! He did always wear that skimpy towel thing inside but I'd never seen him take it off. His wife on the other hand never wore clothes inside the house or pool! When I was a kid I had what we called a Potato Iifle. It was shape like the son of a pump shotgun and a winchester. It had a big barrel like a Shotgun but a underguard lever like a WInch'. It had a small barrel inside the fake barrel. You would plant it into a Potato, then move the lever like the real one which would compress some air and when pressing the trigger it would throw away the potato part. Funny but still dangerous. :)

Pepper, though big, was so well trained, he could walk her without a leash in a city where a leash is required and the cops wouldn't care because they knew them. Anyway, he got tired of the JW's showing up so he got Pepper all excited ready to go play outside, grabbed her collar, and opened the door to just a screen between a jumping big dog and the JW's. Yeah, let's just say they never came back. XD He still maintains she was the best dog he's had to this day.

Story 4 - I hate solicitors that cannot take no for an answer. I was with a family member doing some yard work, heard them complain about some religious solicitors, so when I heard the doorbell I answered it...covered in dirt, with a pickaxe (clay soil) and my dog (mastiff mix, but never hurt a fly) and loud say 'WHAT?"
They stammer for a second and get three words in before I use the pick to point to the "No soliciting" sign and say "Are we going to have a problem, gentleman?" and they took off.
They came back later in the week and I answered again with the pick. They made a joke about how I seem to be doing a lot of work...and I just flatly said "Okay, I'm going to go call police because obviously you guys don't get it." and they ran away again.
I finally called their pastor and the guy was horrified how they were acting. I think they lost their positions, but I never followed up. They were brave but stupid...and there's no way I'm going to accept or buy anything if you harass me to the point of getting police involved.

I've got very mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, no one has the right to invade/damage private property. But on the other hand, can't the family see that this has become too much for Grandma to handle? Whatever fences & cameras they set up, they're too far away to be helpful on a regular basis. Maybe it's time for some tough decisions? There are lots of options (relocating closer to Grandma, selling the land and getting her a more manageable place to live, etc) but it doesn't sound like any of the options are being considered. I am sorry if that makes you unhappy, but I will not be responsible for someone else's children in our pool. that is the rule now. Nobody but our family in the pool." And then make sure you have a fence at least 4 feet high with a self-locking gate (taller if possible). Then immediately post the property with "NO TRESPASSING" signs so that you are covered with having your property duly posted when you have to call the police because of neighbors trying to help themselves to your pool.
It's for reasons such as this that my parents DID NOT get us an above ground pool when I was a kid. It was also in part because they had contact the homeowner's insurance company about liability and coverage ..... and the agent reminded then by quoting the section of the policy that specifically excluded coverage for any kind of a pool, inground or above ground of any depth, no matter how high a fence might be and no matter how well it was lock, etc. Hence we had no pool. That must have been when we got the pool membership.

Because of how they work, ALL Electric Fences (like TASER's & Stungun's) are High Voltage...the Average Electric Fence carries 120,000 Volts (enough to hurt but not kill)...
High Security Fences carry more than 200,000 Volts (they HURT a LOT more)...
If you want to make the fence Lethal, you need to maintain the basic Voltage and increase the Amperage it carries as it's the Amps that actually kill...
HOWEVER, check with your Local Laws to see whether or not you can Legally install an Electric Fence...

The third story about people walking on the family member’s property thinking it was public reminded me of when my family were talking about the back lot behind my family cottage which my parents/grandparents owned. Years ago, primarily in the 90s I believe and maybe early 2000s, people at the near by trailer park, vacation and not permanent living (RV parking), would bring their 4-wheelers and fly around on our property like it was public access, the adults trying to warn them. I had never encountered it but I remember them talking about it and that they were forced to find an insurance policy that included off roading just in case they got injured on our property. As far as I know no one has gone off roading on the property in years but I am glad we were covered at the time

Story 3: It sounds like they're in Briton, with a tradition of public lands and public footpaths through private land, that are being lost and taken from them; in many prominent cases, the people pushing to maintain public access are the good guys.
So, when they're told, "no, this is our yard", they are not inclined to believe you or that you have the legal right. So, I think you need a community meeting to explain the situation, and might even preserve the new footpath if it's seriously more desirable than the one a few hundred meters away.
In Texas, the culture is very different. Trespassers get shot.

    • @docomega7862
      @docomega7862 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

There are cases of public foot paths going through private property (I live in france), but either the public path was built before the land was bought so keeping up the public path was part of the contract (as it would likely reduce the price of the land), or the path was created with the agreement of the owners of the land. In both cases what's important is that the owners of the private land will be aware of the public path and consent to it being on their property. You won't find cases like this story where people just decided to make a "public" path on a private property and it becomes official and legal. So the only community talk I'd see relevant in this case is a warning once they install electric fence and / or buy guard dogs to make sure nobody trespasses anymore

Rec center Karen story: At least they were finally able to trespass the Karen. Better late than never. We know her daughter used to work there, I wonder if she was fired for some reason causing Karen's attitude.
Pool story: OP, I hope you have a fence with a gate that locks around your backyard. And if you don't have a camera to monitor your backyard, you need one. I strongly suspect EM is going to try to get her kids into your pool and leave them there when no one is home.
Private property story: If your grandmother is bed bound, doesn't she have a regular caregiver? It's time to hire someone to live-in full time, not only to care for grandma, but maybe someone who knows how to use a shotgun. Get her plenty of rock salt rounds.
Windows vs sick baby story: That was well done OP. Depending on the type of dogs you have I'd be training them to growl and lunge (not to actually hurt anyone) on command, with you saying you're about to let go of them. Works for my wife and daughter.

A big issue here is that above-ground pools have vertical sides. There's no access other than a ladder that leaves you in 3 or 4 feet of water. A toddler can't be left to splash about in a shallow end because there IS none!
I was at a local lake once when a two-year-old went missing. Everyone was looking everywhere, until a diver told the distraught parents he had his gear with him, and would check the lake itself. In no time at all, he found the kid: he had tried to climb down the ladder of the dock, fallen backwards, and was hanging by his legs off the bottom rung. That was how a boy of two managed a ladder that led to 8-foot deep water. And this "mother" is content to leave her daughter of the same age unattended with little inflated floats?!?!

I used to get some religious solicitors knocking on my door (don't ask which religion; I'm atheist and all cultists look alike to me). As I try to be polite, I normally entertain their spiels but give off enough "I'm not interested" vibes that they know that whatever paperwork they handed me is going straight to the recycle bin.
    2 incidents stick out in my mind as particularly amusing;
First was I had just gotten back from grocery shopping in the middle of summer. I had finished bringing everything in from the car, and got things put away, but still had some rather large (want to say 4-6 pound) steaks to cut up and portion for freezing and that would wrap up my household duties for the day. Now, since I was hot, sweaty and my AC was not working well, I had taken off my shirt to help cool off. As I'm in my kitchen working with a large knife, I hear a knock at my door; now nobody comes by and does that except the HOA president to pass along some news or solicitors.
Deciding to have some fun, I don't bother cleaning up or anything, I go right to the door, bloody knife in hand and pull it open quickly and answered the door with the most cheerful "can I help you?" I could muster...the brief looks of confusion that they had filled me with joy as they were suddenly face to face with a half-naked fat man with a big knife covered in blood being all friendly and cheerful and not-at-all creepy. While they were calm and professional, I like to think that they decided to give my house a wide berth as I never saw them again.
The second incident happened started normal enough, but changed after they finished up their pitch. One of them noticed my shirt which had the text "I'm not an evil minion, I'm upper management" and asked me about it. I shrugged and told them that I found it amusing (I legit do like shirts silly/nerdy stuff on them)...which drifted into a short back-and-forth about philosophy and such, at which point I informed them that I was, in fact, Atheist. They asked about why I felt the way I did and I left them with:
“If there is a God, He will have to beg my forgiveness.”; I let them know the source (A carving/writing on the walls of (what I thought, at the time, was) Auschwitz) and noted that a "good" or "just" god would not let something like that happen...which had me paraphrase Epicurus' statement on the topic (“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”)
...they had no rebuttal to that. I wished them a good day and I have not seem them ever again either.

He did not have an answering machine so the phone would just ring and ring. Eventually, his favorite thing to do was to tell them to hold on for a second as he had a pot boiling on the stove or someone was at the door or he had to let the dog in, etc. He wouldn’t give them a chance to respond, lay the phone down, and never come back. If you aren’t aware, back then it took a minute or two for the call to disconnect if one party hadn’t hung up the phone on their end. So the solicitors would wait for a few minutes for grandpa to return and then try to hang up to disconnect the call but couldn’t get their line free. He routinely wasted 5-10 minutes of their time per call. Gradually, the calls tapered off. He was retired so he had a lot of time to go to war with those jerks.

Then record each time a company comes to your door. IF they ring the bell or knock in order to sell anything, that is soliciting and therefore trespassing. They get that one notice (which is on the door) before you can call the police for trespassing/harassment.
My grandma put up with solicitors until she put up that exact sign on the door. It's no a large sign, but easy to see when it is near the doorbell button. Any additional shots would be aimed Center-of-Mass (i.e. at the heart & lungs) on the theory that if a 12-Guage Rock Salt Castration didn't stop you, blowing your heart out through you spine will...
For those wondering about it, a Saiga for all intents and purposes, it's an AK-47 chambered for 12-Guage Shotgun Shells which means, while it may not be the most accurate Shotgun (and who needs extreme accuracy with buckshot), it will take all kinds of abuse (dust, sand, mud etc.) and keep working perfectly...being magazine fed, they're also VERY fast to reload and while 7 round magazines (5 round if Civilian owned) are the usual, there are also 24 round drum mags for it too...
    😄😁😆😅😂🤣

Large dog are intimidating but the little ones are who you have to look out for, I have had both. I had a 111 pound German Shepard who got bullied by a one pound ferret and I had a Min Pin that was maybe 10 or 12 pounds that tried to fight a neighbor's Great Dane. She lived to 20 years and was that way her whole life. 😮

With the solicitors, it reminded me of when I was much younger. My parents were in positions of authority at our Baptist church, and the local 7th Day Adventists knew it. I was tired of them coming 'round - usually with a newbie in tow - to debate doctrine with my folks (who were too nice to turn them away), so one day they came to the door when I - a mid-teens VERY hairy male - was home alone. I was JUST about to step into the shower, so came to the door in a towel. I invited them in and said I was just about to perform my own prayers, and they were welcome to join me. So I lit the fire my dad always had ready in the fire place, took down a little wooden carving I bought for my folks while on a retreat to the Philipines, and took off the towel. They were out the door before I'd done more than mumbled incoherently while kneeling butt-nekid in front of the fire.
All I could do was smile several months later when at dinner one evening my dad asked my mom if she'd seen those nice young men recently from "that other church". He never found out why they stopped coming by because I didn't want to ruin my reputation of being "the saintly child". LOL

Story 3: Definitely up the security but as it's well known by now that people are trespassing and breaking down the fence (as well as threatening to break in and/or set the place on fire) you should be able to ask for police surveillance on the property (depending on where you live). Could also look into private security for a time just to catch them in the act of trespassing.

My former husband and I very nicely had the window salesman come inside, had several children in that day, running around, we just let them run around, that salesman was there for over an hour, we acted interested had him show us the different kinds of windows, generally wasted his time when one of the children’s parent came, we finally told the man that we appreciated his time but really didn’t need new windows, never had that problem again

3rd story: At that point, along with cameras, I would add motion activated lights around a 10 foot fence with barbed wire at the top. Closer to the house, I would add motion activated alarms.
Mom needs a medical alert system also activated by house alarms. The Superiors of the non-helpful cops need to be informed of all of these problems.

Story 4 - "No Solicitation" signage on your gates means they are immediately trespassing should they enter your yard. On top of that if you have told the same company in the past not to keep bothering you also means that they are harassing. So call the police the moment they keep coming. Otherwise go the more threatening route with a baseball bat or a gun in hand. Let them call the police themselves about you looking threatening and then you tell the police the constant harassment by them and their company.

In our city you have to be issued a permit to solicity door-to-door. I always ask them if they have the permit. I also have a No Soliciting sign on my door-it lists my exceptions such as Amazon, chocolate and girl scout cookies. So no matter what the solicitor says about having a permit, I ask if he can read. I then point out my sign and tell them that it is legal and they can be arrested if they ignore a No Soliciting sign. Then I close the door!!!!

In the latter part of the 1980s, I moved into a new-to-me apartment in the city. I worked nights, and slept what most folks call mornings, but the newness of the apartment had me curious about answering when the doorbell button was pushed.
My apartment was one of six in my cluster, and there were seven clusters. There was an outside door, with the panel of doorbell buttons beside it.
So, one Saturday morning, I was trying to sleep, and I heard my doorbell. I groggily made myself somewhat presentable, went down to the outer door, and was greeted by a couple.
"Hi, I'm Barney, and this is Betty, and we're from Kingdom Hall down the street. We'd like to discuss..."
I cut them off with a curt, "I'm not a religious person, leave me alone," and turned back to climb the stairs to my apartment.
The following Saturday morning, someone else ringing my doorbell. In a grumpy mood, but still wondering who was bothering me, I went downstairs, and encountered a different couple.
"Hey, I'm Fred, this is Wilma, we're from Kingdom Hall down the street..."
I cut them off with, "Hey, is mine the first doorbell that someone has answered?" looking around as if nervous. "I heard that one of my neighbors is in one of those cults that favors human sacrifice. I read up on that cult, and they really favor Jehovah's Witnesses as sacrificial offerings."
The two of them looked at me with one great big eye like in the cartoons, with four little dots of their lenses.
I was in that apartment for a dozen years, but never had a Jehovah's Witness ring my doorbell again.

Probably could have, but the cops would have needed to be motivated to do that. They probably had better things to do and didn’t want to deal with her more than they needed to. Especially if the “victims” didn’t want to press charges. If charges had been pressed they probably would have tacked it on.

Story 1: If I was OP I would be going to the cops to ask that she be charged with filing a false police report and misuse of emergency services. The cops didn't charge Karen because they did not want to have to do the paperwork. And Karen will just continue on her way to torment someone else. So thanks to those cops Karen will continue to terrorize other places.
Story 3: After they burnt the signs there would be no question about what I would do, but I can't say what I'd do as it would violate youtube's rules, get me banned from here and probably get me on a watch list though I am probably already on quite a few so far.
If no one can prove something happened then it didn't happen.
Story 4: I had trouble with some 7th day Adventists that just would not stop coming. So I got a bible from the Dollar store, burnt the bible partially, and made a tiny alter that I put the burnt bible on. The 7th day people never came back after they saw my alter.
Similar to story 5: I live on beach front property that is on a PRIVATE road, but every year we always have to deal with the idiots from the cities who come out to the rural areas and think that they can just park/walk wherever they please. But things have gotten better since I made a big no trespassing sign that looks like it has been shot by a shotgun and I painted a few red person shaped figures with large Xs on them on the sign.
