And as an absolute must Karen be put on the collective Do not Fly list. So Karen can not fly anywhere unless in an air ambulance going to hospital, or after being kicked, punched or judo thrown over should after she tries to aggression another child with more physical parent.
Enjoy the multi day road trip across America, hopefully on indirect buses. While rest of family fly half a day.

When I was 19 I often got mistaken for much younger. One flight I think of the time I found the land of the giants. Everywhere I turn they were tall people. Big and buff people. People five times my width. From sitting on the flight to waiting on layway. I happen to be surround by giants compare to me. Tiny little 5 ft size 2 me. This guy who was big around and well over 6ft with his daughter, 12, who was at least 5ft 5inches thought I was a small child lost. They were from a culture where apperantly he was consider on the small side and never met a grown woman as small as me before. First time he left home. But he was poliete about it. Still I thought I get a heart attack when the daughter told me her age. She was already double me by width too. And her family nickname was shorty. 😂

On a flight out west, a father politely asked if his 10 yo daughter could sit in the seat between me and another passenger. We agreed and then spent 3 hours with one of the most delightful children I've ever been near. She was an absolute joy! Hers was a family of 5. They hadn't been able to get seats together, it being right before the holidays, so the parents each sat with a younger sibling and hoped for the best for the eldest. The father gave her a bag with things for her entertainment. I mean, this family had it all together and their kids were so well-behaved! Being on the flight with them was quite lovely. Good parenting shows! The little girl was a happy child and fun to travel with.

People have gotten crazy on planes. I was flying an airline known for open seating, and some guy decided that one row was for him and his family...told the family there to move and when they didn't punched the guy in the face. The family got on board and sat down like nothing happened (wife & 3 kids)...till the police came on board and dragged the family away.
The whole time the guy was screaming they did nothing wrong, that anyone that said they did should go out on the tarmac for a fight, and even yelled at the cop...who told the guy sit down and shut up NOW or they'll cancel the flight and charge him for it (~$250,000). No idea if this was true, but he shut up immediately and walked off the flight. It was like a light switch.
His family didn't say anything during the exchange except the wife who said they were no longer welcome there because of daddy.

This is an example of entitlement outweighing other entitlement. Even if you think that woman is entitled to a break (because parenting is/can be hard), that entitlement is outweighed by the fact that everyone else on that plane is entitled to fly.

@@BarafuAlbino If that's the crash I'm thinking of, it wasn't a private plane. It was a Let L-410 Turbolet, which is an all-metal high wing turboprop commuter airplane. Bearing registration 9Q-CCN, it was operated by Filair, which was an airline based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A passenger smuggled a crocodile aboard the aircraft. The croc escaped the duffel bag it was in, the passengers panicked, and they all ran to the front of the airplane. Unfortunately, this happened when they were on final approach to Bandundu Airport and the pilots didn't have room to recover from the sudden shift in the aircraft's center of gravity. If it had happened when they had more altitude, the pilots may have been able to maintain control. There were 21 people aboard the aircraft; only one survived. Reportedly, the crocodile also survived the crash but was dispatched with a machete. This happened on 25 August 2010.
Filair was on the list of air carriers banned in the European Union. They ceased operations in 2015.

With as adamant as that woman was in the last story that she literally spent an hour looking thru gates for this one girl, that goes well beyond concern to which she could've informed security of a possible unaccompanied child. That woman I have no doubt was working for a human trafficking ring, and I really do hope those kids with her weren't victims she had already collected.

Heck I flew by myself twice when I was 11. Maybe it was just a different time back then but the flight crew were all wonderful to me. They kept expecting me to be scared during a storm on my second solo flight but the lady next to me was the terrified one. The ironic thing is that it turned out the flight crew had asked her to sit beside me in case I got scared when they flew through the thunderstorm. We lost altitude and got whipped around a bit but I thought it was a great ride. I even got to see the cockpit and got a little set of wings to wear.

Story 1: I don't understand these parents who travel without bringing their children anything to do and then get grumpy when their kids act up. Bring them a coloring book, a novel, or even an electronic device, according to their age or preference, and then the problem is solved. If you can afford hundreds or thousands of dollars to buy tickets for the entire family, you can cough up a little more to keep them from bouncing off the walls throughout the plane trip.

Private jet story: There's a difference between courtesy and respect, and more people ought to learn the difference. I owe common courtesy to anyone who speaks to me (until they prove differently, anyway) but I do not owe them my respect. Respect is earned by behaviour, and not by age. Some people get worse with age, and at some point they can't even expect courtesy anymore!

Reminds me of this woman who tried to take a seat at a karate event and not let my grandfather (who had gotten up briefly) sit down because it was for her son who was participating in the event and by no means would be using the seat and got up in my grandfathers face. Which got my dad involved. Normally, my dad is very passive, but turns very aggressive when his family is threatened or disrespected. He intimidated that woman so his father could sit down. (For reference, my grandfather had been hit by a car bicycling and had pains that made it difficult to stand for hours) and that lady tried to talk smack to me about my grandfather not realizing I was his grandaughter since I'm mixed. I am someone who was taught to respect elders. This lady was older than me, but there is a difference between respect and honoring the people who have lived life and people being entitled because of age. I will respect an elder, but if you act entitled and bigoted, I will not stand for it.

I was flying with my 2 stepsons a few years ago. They were 10 & 12. I was taking them to FL to stay with their dad for the summer. They were playing on their switches when I told them I would be right back & stepped into the bathroom, right across from where we were sitting. I came out & saw some lady yelling at them. When I asked what was wrong both boys jumped up & hid behind me. Lady said that they were her kids & she was trying to take their devices as punishment for not listening. I just said that's funny. I am married to their mom & you ain't her. She got mad & quickly walked off. We thought it was over but a few minutes later airport police showed up with the lady. She told them I was kidnapping her kids. I had some legal documents that me, my wife, &her sex signed explaining what was going on. My wife insisted on the paperwork & I am sure glad she did. After about 30 min t& confirming everything they arerested the lady for filing a false report & incinting a panic, I think that's what the second one was.
