Man, I cracked my 23 Saz18 election night and thought it was amazing. Got a lot more light fruity notes as opposed to too much oak. Obviously proof could be higher.
My own hot take is that no Bourbon is worth much more than $100. I learned early on that with many of the finer things, there is a price point of diminishing returns. Like wine this is around $60. For Bourbon I'm generally disappointed these days on most things above $80. Many I've tried have been good, but rarely would I want to have 1 $150+ bottle when I can get 2-3+ really good bottles. Stagg sets the ceiling on acceptable price for me ~$120 MSRP. Love the shout out to Parker Garage. It's a really fine establishment in a often forgotten part of the Denver metro.
Love the hat! Passing on the Russell’s 15 is tough…. Cotton Candy and Magic. Love that bottle. I tried several. None tasted like turkey. All were hitters.
Well hot damn, i agree with this list almost to a T! I'm also torn on the Parkers Single Malt. I was not a fan of the Parkers 10yr Rye last year and only dream of the Double Barrel blend 😂. Great video and nice work brother!!!
The Parkers is a Kentucky Straight Malt not an American Single Malt. American Single Malts taste like scotch. Kentucky Straight Malt tasted more like bourbon. It definitely may still be a try before you buy but it doesn't taste like an American Single Malt.
@@zachmassey4168 I don’t find that American single malt tastes like scotch only due to the lack of Peat. But what you are saying definitely makes sense. Cheers.
I passed on the RR15 at msrp as well but regret it now 😂 Passed for same reason. Not a huge WT fan and Russell’s SiB is the only one I actually truly enjoy and restock. The RR13 I loved at $75 and $99 but pass all the time at $150. It is good but not $150 good to me. Pass on Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Pass on Remus Babe Ruth. Love baseball but not over paying for a bottle made by the marketing department. Pass on the yearly Yellowstone Limited Edition. I loved the 2022 edition but tired of ok to good offerings at expensive prices just because they slap a limited edition sticker on it. Most of the last 5 year the Yellowstone LE has been a $75 bottle. Passing on Blanton’s. I like Blanton’s but it is a $50-55 bottle not a $75. I could get it easily and used to give it away as gifts all the time. 13th Colony at increased prices. Ever since the DO became a social media sensation people have jacked the price up on anything from them. The regular bourbon is a terrific $36 bottle but I see it all the time now marked up to $48-$65 😂 and their CS is not a $100 bottle more a $50-60. And I liked them before they became well known. Miss their Sour Mash. Passing on anything saying Widow Jane. Happy to have picked up the Little Book Infinite and Maker’s Mark Cellar Age at msrp this past week.
I preordered the Westward Milestone this year, and after it got here Im debating whether I want to even keep hunting for bourbon or just buy their stuff.
@@Wiskeyer Its really hard for me to recommend anything over 100 only to let someone else down, let alone 250. I think westward has a really interesting flavor profile as a brand, especially as someone whose palette isn't as great towards scotch like mine. If you havent had the Westward Cask strength (Purple Label) Id give it a go, its usually around 90.00 and very stone fruit forward.
The RR15 is one of my favorites. You should try it. It’s hard to justify the price, but if I could only have 2 whiskeys, it would be one of them (stagg jr is probably number 1. I need to blind both)
To be honest if I actually had my hands on a RR 15 I'd probably buy it along with the OGD 16 , but living in michigan the odds of seeing them here is like a million to one 🤔😖😵💫🫣 Cheers 🥃 👍
