I always thought mosquitoes had a height limit in terms of flight and people in tall buildings could sit on the balcony without having to worry about this 🤔

Nice apartment and nice neighbourhood! - a 5am start in the morning is a bit harsh, though (unless u r a morning person), makes me appreciate my work from home gig :))
Wow. Great apartment tour video! With that added balcony you would probably be able to keep one or two real plants (seems to be a good light area) - really good for improving air quality too
I am a Shanghainese living in California USA. Today I found your channel by chance and learned that you live in Songjiang Shanghai. It looks so familiar to me because my parents are in Songjiang and I take Metro Line 9 from the University Town Station very often when I am back home. I stayed 6 months last year in Shanghai and I will come back again this summer. Maybe I could met you on the metro. I enjoyed your videos (especially the music) and I'll watch all of them. 😊
Haha I wish, I work at a school but because one of the lucky kids went to Disney we had to close for a week 😂😂 I went to Disney back in 2019 before COVID but haven’t been since, it seems quite chaotic from what I’ve heard but I imagine it’s magical at Christmas! ❤️
If you know anything about Orwells, he resigned from the BBC because he talked about how draconian the practices they used to makeup the news purposely against the people in the colonies and propagandize for the British empire. You certainly don't need any tech at all to be like Orwell's novel.
Definitely a bargain for such a beautiful apartment. You would have paid at least three times more for a smaller apartment in the city center. Near subway lines always helps, as it makes the distance less of a concern.
I totally agree. Our last apartment was a tiny one bed studio that flooded every time we showered or used the washing machine. It was near the city centre but cost triple what we are paying now! Not worth it in my opinion although it was nice being so close to lots of cafes!
@@ExpatNatt Wow! The landlord had the obligation to fix the plumbing/leaking problem. Or the contract should have indicated that the apartment is delivered in working condition. I would hold the rent until they fix this problem. Since your partner is a native, I wonder if he had wanted to deal with the landlord or leasing company. It wouldn't be pleasant for sure. I definitely wouldn't put up with this if I had your old apartment.

This is one of a very few government run complexes as my boyfriend has Shanghai identity and gets a subsidy for it. It’s our first time living in such a complex so I’m not sure what others are like but from other complexes I’ve visited, most are just the buildings and don’t have a social area/private shops and restaurants. Most communities will have a post room to collect your packages but some will deliver to your door. I really depends where you live. The closer to the city centre you get, the more compact the apartment complex is. This is very spacious because it’s in the countryside. I highly recommend finding somewhere close to your workplace and the trek kills me 😂😂 If you have any questions, let me know, or you can reach out on Instagram (expatnatt) ☺️
@@ExpatNatt Thank you for your reply, much appreciated. With the complex being government owed does that mean there are restrictions on who can rent a unit? Would an expat teacher be able to rent do you think?
@@davidcottrell3815 Honestly I’m not sure, I’m the first foreigner to live in this complex but it is in my boyfriends name and he is Chinese. If you can speak fluent Chinese then I think you’d be able to argue your way into most complexes. Your best bet for finding somewhere to live would be to find an English speaking agent who can help you to find somewhere that accepts foreigners.
I should add, they usually don’t care what your job is or if you even have one. None of my teacher friends have had any issues finding somewhere to live.
I just came across your video and glad I did!! One reason is I'm considering moving aboard to China!! Thank you for watching! It’s a wonderful city to live in! We do live pretty far out from the city though, so for city prices you can expect to pay anywhere between 6500-12000 rmb per month for a one bed apartment ❤️❤️
Also you gave us the city in the beginning of the video but can you tell me once again or spell it for me I was trying to look at some Air BNB should I come for a visit!! Thanks again 👍🏽
So being out near the rural areas means you have more opportunity to shop at local markets? If so you should definitely do a video on these as they are very watchable content on YT
There really is nothing like that out this way. It’s not rural but it’s also not the city centre… it’s mostly just industrial buildings and empty flat land waiting to be developed. It’s all very modern and new. Shanghai have a lot of laws against markets and street food and vendors etc which is why you don’t see those types of things in my Shanghai videos 😢
Those rental prices seem quite reasonable - not really sure what the RMB conversion rate is currently but I bet its cheaper than my London flat in North London! (which has doubled since the outbreak of the pandemic) ☹️
We will be paying around £350 per month although it’s quite a way out from the city centre it still has a tram and metro system. To compare, our last apartment in the city centre was around £900 per month for a tiny one bed with flooding hahah 😂
